This thread is meant for artists who might want to try to make stylized work in-between their studies. It is strongly recommended that you use this thread in conjunction with learning the elements and fundamentals of art. You can also discuss the visual elements of various professional artists as well if you keep it relatively articulate and civil.

Submit your drawings, receive feedback or critique others! Share your knowledge and remember to thank those who've critiqued or red-lined your drawings. Most importantly, have fun!

>>
>>2385799
You're getting the idea. I would just choose one in this cause I imagine the cloth with the moon on it has a window behind it and the dino is just using the moonlight to read the book and that there is no secondary headlight on. It also would make sense cause the girl is sleeping suggesting bedtime--but that's just my interpretation.

Oh by the way cute pic.

And for the rest I'm sorry but I don't quite understand what you are saying. If you are asking a question the answer is yes, the skill gap if you compare me to someone like Dave Rapoza is huge.
But if it was meant to say: dude you have a long way to go. If that's what you meant, then yes I know I'm a beginner, I actually did this piece so I can compare it to my earlier pieces from when I started drawing about a year ago.

Not him but that's not a bad advice, at first i was looking at artists and couldn't even understand what i was seeing, i just knew that it looked good and i liked it,
afther pirating Color and Light by James Gurney and Designing with Color and Light with Nathan Fowkes and researched more about color theory i could actually see drawings i liked and understand
how and why they did what they did and so pass some of it on my own drawings.
>>
>>2386393

D-d-do you really think so? I mean I've been here for years now and yah know I always wanted to be a trip fag. Maybe I should start simple and be a namefag though and then graduate to a tripcode. OOohh doushiyou ka naaa?
>>
>>2386450
But color theory alone isn't going to make you magically know how to paint. Honestly I'm just looking for handy digital-specific tricks to speed up the process and make it less of a pain in the ass. Right now inking and coloring is taking at least 30x the time it takes to complete a pencil sketch.
>>
>>2386523
There are no shortcuts in art, if you find one it is usually a crutch and will only harm you in the long run.

Just bite through the pain, watch how other artists do it and mimic their process.

She? the hair included but the body looks more manly - can't even see sideboobs, the waist is pretty straight. I think the figure's upper body is much wider than the hips.

the arms don't feel natural... when you try to pick something up, do you keep your arm straight out? (i guess deadlifts) maybe there are other physics involved here that explain why it's that way

the wings don't work with the rest of the body. the wings are facing straight at us but the figure is turned a little, no?

more detail to the eyes and smoothened the line of her back, but did you not see how fucked up the arm and shoulder connecting to the ribcage are, and how differently they look in >>2388202
The line of her back also extends down much lower and the breasts on your pic vs the ref are so poorly defined and smudged out beyond recognition. It's obvious you don't have the underlying anatomical knowledge, but atleast use your eyes.

you know it's not that good man, you have eyes. practice more.
>>
>>2389462
Not too good, sorry.
There are pretty glaring anatomical problems (the pelvis for example, and the knees or lack thereof), too much reliance on outlines as a means of conveying form (breasts, calves and neck for instance), the overall form is very stiff and static, the colours are not blended well and the values are off.
Practice, practice, practice. Draw from life, you can only get so far without that, and don't be afraid of drawing the trickier stuff like hands and feet just because you're bad at it, practice makes perfect.
>>
>>2389436
>i was doing this without reference
for what purpose? there's literally no downside to using reference
>>
>>2389484

well, my theory is that i see what mistakes I make when I draw without reference. I can (relatively) draw much better when using ref, but its more challenging to do so from imagination.
For example for this piece I improved a lot on the figure, making it less stiff than my previous drawings. I draw from ref too but dont post them bcuz i dont want to.

this piece had its good areas and its problem areas, i particularly like the brushwork around the top of the hair, it brings a sense of detail without being over the top. as for areas that need a bit more work, i'd advise softening some edges while keeping some hard as to help guide to eyes to key focal points. other than that, i'd say try to use more references, most notably for the facial features and the hands, it would really help strengthen them. keep up the good work!

Maybe break it up with some internal lines to define volumes. Maybe make the wrist part a big sphere instead of a can, and have the armguard be more tapered to the elbow, that way you have a wedge shape to convey direction and internal division to show volume, its more interesting than a can shape.

Do some life drawings before you draw from imagination. I don't mean only draw from life until you're great, just draw a similar subject from life before you draw it from imagination. It doesn't have to be the same shape, pose, lighting, etc. it just makes you think of how your imagined object would look in real life.

Use flowing shapes. The blocky cylinders look jarring in contrast to the rest of the character.
Try looking at Portal guns or boxing gloves and derive something from those types of forms. A rain drop shape would also work nicely.
You need to work more on using those types of forms in general.

Bro these, the ones I have, were classified as A, B, C originally they came on a CD as they had some html code and they were mean to watch it on the browser.

What I did was get rid of all that shit, take the images and put them in 3 different folders, with out the other files (non image and code shit) so their study would be easier.

there´s another set of jap. models in color of a secretary, maid, casual and the schoolgirl which I never could get.

One day I realize none of you guys had them, it was christmas so I decided to share all my collection, including old and modern black and white pose collection.

Then the SOB, russian fag came and derailled the thread.

If you are reading you SOB I swear I will find you and shove my wacom pencil up your ass.

I like it a lot, but I have to point out the cut off arm's shoulder looks dislocated and location of tail seems really off. Should be coming out from human's tail bone. The crotch seems really low too.
>>
>>2392136
Stop drawing anime.
>>
>>2392138
Oh the crotch is so low LOL what the fuck is the problem with my eyes, thansk for the crits bro i'll take some time to fix that later
>>
>>2392140
But how do you get better at drawing anime? Shouldn't you be drawing anime to get better at anime?
>>
>>2392148
Draw from life, you learn the rules before you "break them" if you are copying off a model and give her an animu head you will get it wrong which seems to be exactly what you are doing study the proportions of a figure.
>>
>>2392136
why is she naked
>>
>>2392148
Everything is bad about learning from symbols. No good animu artist learned drawing animu, drawing animu.
>>
>>2392153
How would I give a model an animu head? How do you know if you're doing it correctly?
>>
>>2392160
You can always change your proportions after you git gud.
>>
>>2392140

this thread is for anime bro
>>
>>2392164

I'm surprised nobody called me out for the inverted ass cheek.
>>
>>2392160
After you understand how Artists are able to change proportions based off life you will draw with this knowledge remember that your moeshit is based from life would you rather remain a xerox machine able to copy but not understanding the how and why or be creative and draw from imagination? Stop arguing.
>>
>>2392171
So if I learn how to draw from life, then it'll naturally come to me as to how to draw animu?
>>
>>2392153
>>2392163
>>2392171

Actual poster of the image here kek - notice the tripfag ...

I am not copying a model and drawing an anime head what the fuck. I draw from imagination even mentioned that in a previous post, i dont use reference a lot except when training
>>
>>2392179
You're not ready to draw from imagination yet, I'll say it one more fucking time stop drawing anime and draw from life or fuck off.
>>
>>2392155
because he is a horny 13 year old who needs to see real pussy
>>
>>2392179
>I draw from imagination even mentioned that in a previous post, i dont use reference a lot except when training

That's not obligatory a good thing you know.
>>
>>2392181

> You're not ready to draw from imagination yet

topkek. says you

>>2392187

>draw from life to train and understand forms
>draw from imagination and save those images

i dont see a problem here?
>>
>>2392183

>horny 13 year old
18*
>needs to see real pussy
pretty much..
>>
>>2392194

There's nothing sexy about naked girl #49395056298496084 floating in space looking at the viewer. Learn to make appealing pictures for your audience, anime shit or not.

First time on /ic/
Is this kind of response to criticism common on this board ?
>>
>>2392252
Leave.
>>
>>2392254
I was just asking a question
>>
>>2392252
You'll quickly realize there's no good critiques given on /ic/ just shitposts.
>>
>>2392268
Spent so much time on /pol/ that I've forgotten how annoying no ID's are.
(eg. stop stealing my posts)
>>
>>2392275
Still better than DeviantArt
>>
>>2392283
I'd disagree, at least DA has some groups that will give you good critiques if you know where to look.
Here it's just all shitposting and amatuers who think they know anything hiding behind their "critiques"
There's a reason da has some good artists and /ic/ has none.
>>
>>2392287
>/ic/ has none
I beg to differ on that point. But most of the "critique" here is shitposting, yes.
>>
>>2392287
Fuck off back to DA
>>
>>2392287
DA has got like 100.000 times more members so it's no surprise it would have much more good artists than /ic/.
>>
>>2392294
Let me fix that then.
>there are more good artists in other boards drawthreads than /ic/
>>
>>2392299
many of which post and redline here as well.

>>2392167
head too big, breast too high. shoulders too narrow, armpits too high. all around sub-optimal proportions. the back-view is better.

>>2392136
nice try. but you lack fundies. it's flat, the gesture is weird and it's clear that you only in the beginning stages of understanding the body. the knees are also way too thick.
more gestures, some studies, more sketchbook drawing.
