>you will never be this good
My inkjet printer is more skilled
>>2381575
sure
That doesn't really concern me and is no reason to stop trying.
>>2381571
Looks like babbys first cloth. He learnted to render cloth and overdid it. Nothing special, why not try something new??
>you can't even paint this good when dreaming ;_;
>>2381586
Nothing special. hahahahaha you motherfuckers crack me up
There's no hierarchy of detail in this. Everything is given the same amount of attention, my eye doesn't know where it's supposed to look.
Kudos to whoever took the original photo though, its a nice photo.
>>2381589
And? You agree or disgaree with me? Look at color pallete, it's brown and boring , the subject matter is boring and Go to photoshop and ad rule of thirds overlay, or golden ratio - they are non-existant rules of composition! I think the artist didnt become wasnt famouse for Valid reasons.
I paint/draw because I like making shit you can't fine in real life. Everyone's got a big art-boner for hyper-realistic portraits but it bores the crap out of me. It's impressive - like really, really, impressive - but I'm so glad I don't obsess over perfection for years just to get something that looks ... /normal./
>>2381600
yes, because plebs,
such as you
, consider it boring
>>2381586
>>2381600
>>2381571
I could do that but there's no money in it. Furry porn keeps a roof over my head.
>>2381600
Motherfucker of course im not agreeing with you. You are a retarded neckbeard. Jesus christ. If you can one day do anything that even RESEMBLES that painting you'd realise the amount of bullshit that comes out of your mouth is fucking amazing. What next? You going to blame him of symbol drawing?
>>2381612
But this is pleb tier art. Only plebs find this kind of photorealistic copy art interesting. I expect to see this on the front page of reddit.
>>2381571
Wow. A human camera/printer. *clap clap clap*
>>2381571
Another guy who should have been a photographer
>>2381571
Nice photo
it's shit
*yawn.*
>>2381571
neat.
>You will never be this good
>>2381587
If I could imagine things better than I could paint them I would never have bothered getting into art.
you will never be this good.
>>2381586
post your work :)
>>2381631
to me that looks more like realism than photorealism
>>2381587
holly fucking shit. Made me hard
>>2381593
Not a fan of the artist, but there can be a hierarchy of detail without any obvious subjugation of it in a forthright manner such as Sargent would do.
If extreme attention to detail and tone is his deal then that'd harm his expression, so instead the composition is chosen in a way that there is a hierarchy of texture - in a graphic sense. Don't be so quick to dismiss something and tell yourself why it's wrong.
itt: I know I'll never be able to get to that level of detail and skill so I'm going to call it shit!
glad to see you guys are still fucking annoying
i dunt like to be a fuking human printer :(
but once in a while I might try to draw something like that. First I need a qt white bitch to pose for me
>>2381769
be lazy and gain an understanding of colors, values and texture and you can
>>2381571
Talking to yourself again?
>>2381919 (You)
No. Are you?
>>2381571
Honestly, my goal is to be be able to reach the point where I CAN be a human camera just to photograph the impossible shit in my head with horrifyingly convincing detail
I'm impressed by the control that these people have over light and shadow, but it's so much more awesome when you can bend reality instead of just pointing at reality
>>2381923
Obviously not as my post was a reply to you, dicknose.
>>2381677
The salt is real lol
>you will never be as good as Jeff Watts
Holy shit. I'm watching his drawing from a model video and he's a fucking beast.
>>2381593
>Everything is given the same amount of attention, my eye doesn't know where it's supposed to look.
Makes me wonder how you would navigate the real world, where there is no "hierarchy of detail" either.
You fall down a lot, I take it?
>>2381938 (You)
Fuck you, idiot!
>You will never make the subject matter look and feel more interesting than it actually is
Why even live
>>2383039
The artist would have slapped you for saying chickens aren't interesting. You just like to suck painterly dick
>>2383046
ho ho ho but I never said chickens weren't interesting. He takes them to a whole 'nother level.
>>2383048
I never knew Santa had an appreciation for art.
>>2381600
> no composition
>>2381600
>Go to photoshop and ad rule of thirds overlay, or golden ratio - they are non-existant rules of composition!
>>2383003
Your brain doesnt encode every detail about what you see, that would be overwhelming
Its a selective process of what to focus on, and other anon is right about hierarchy of detail being more aesthetically pleasing
But it's still a good painting regardless
So much this. I can appreciate op pic for it's technique and hard work but I have no desire to paint like that.
Look at Sargent work and his absolute control of the hard and soft edges, a much better painting than op's Imo
>>2381571
Well, why not though?
>>2381611
This tbqh family man
>>2381571
why is it whenever I see contemporary realistic paintings, they use subject matter that would make it seem older then it is. As if it's avoiding being "modern"(time sense not art history sense).
Does anyone else get what I mean?
>>2385430
Then you haven't hung around the realist community enough ;) Check out Nick Alm or Jeremy Geddes.
Although, I get what you mean. From speaking with a lot of the people teaching today's academic/classical art students, they seem to want to emphasise a kind of timelessness that exists in a lot of the 19th century's artwork. I think that's why it doesn't always look very "modern"
>>2383649
underrated post
>>2385854
didnt think anyone else would ever post JJ around here.
>>2381571
No doubt, Serge Marshennikov is a phenomenal painter, but when it comes to painting I think getting too much photorealism is detrimental, which I think applies to all 2-D art mediums.
People work so hard to develop their skills in making things look like real life and that's really impressive, but all they've really done in the end is make impressive works with absolutely no personal style because it's all straight out of real life.
