Consider also this - when chapel was made through years and you were an artist sponsored by the pope himself and there really wasn't many people who would give you money like that, would you care to finish fast or would you rather like to live from your payment? Yeah...

Nowadays market is huge, paintings can be fixed fast and artists aren't normally sponsored by the powerful and rich, but by plebs on patreon that want to see porn of a fan art.
