What's autistic about it? He's studying stuff by breaking it down and reconstructing it in different angles. Very difficult to do, but also much more effective than just copying the ref. KJG studies that way too.

Fun fact: step one is actually harder than step 2
>>
>>2363215
Not really, measurements are easily quantifiable. You can plot out any point you want with accuracy using your pencil. You can't do that so much with values, laying and refining the correct values is much more hit or miss and doing that in grey scale when you're looking at a live model is even harder.

>I'll draw arbitrary lines after the fact and claim it's all based on the golden ratio!

>>2363521
The first 3 steps are pretty much shape language anon.

The author described how to handle negative shapes using circles placed in a 3d plane. You can see this in step 3 on he made a twig and .

Step 4 is putting his theory to the test and the step 5 is the brush setting he used for the step 6 where he laid in the initial silhouette of the piece and gradually chipping in the form until finish.

Is that okay?
>>
>>2362288
This is useless.
>Learn construction
>Learn bone, fat and muscle landmarks
>Get a medical anatomy atlas and consult it when in doubt.

As a reference, this is worse than actual pictures of the real thing. As learning material, trying to get to this level working from memory is a waste of time and goes against the workflow of anyone actually working or producing art.
>>
>>2362614
Anon...
How long have you actually gone without knowing what "study" means?
You're meant to draw what you want from imagination, then get reference and analize what you did wrong. Draw from imagination again, then look at the ref again and analize what you still have wrong.

You don't learn shit by just copying pictures.
>>
>>2363343
Layers.
Everyone who sucks at hair/fur has one common error. They only paint/draw the surface layer.

>>2363348
You want to know what's crazy? You can actually use this same technique for drawing clouds bending into the horizon.

This shit actually pisses me off so much. There's a time and place for photobashing and "cheating." It's a keyshot of what? Some chick looking behind her as debris flys around? A Starwars character that he didn't even design himself? Like what is he even trying to fucking say with this image because the idea, mood, and feeling are fucking lost on me and all I'm getting from this photobash is wow congratulations I know how to match lighting and throw on a low contrast filter. Contrived as fuck. This guy tries so hard to be Maciej Kuciara but at least Kuciara is a good designer and can actually tell a decent story. You can't hide garbage fundamentals.

God fucking dammit I hate this kind of tutorials. It explains fucking nothing and yet these artists are fucking awesome and I feel like shit when I observe what they draw.

>>2368461
3rd explains, but I agree that the two first are frustrating as hell. I want to know what fucking tools he used and the full process.

Beginner here, I notice a lot that if you desaturate an image for example the pretty busts and portraits the majority of internet famous artists paint, there is very little work on values, in this drawing is it correct to say that only a basic light 0-20% value range is used on the face, and then the definition and form is expressed through the use of color mostly and colour with different values are used , is this a valid way of rendering a face? should this be avoided?

I'm still wrapping my head around value and I've always thought of it as a way to show the structure/form of the face through use of light.

If this is correct then wouldn't this girls face mostly be flat, save for slight sunken eyes, and an inconceivably small bump where a nose should be?

yet in the final image it looks natural and defined.

TLDR, isn't the face too flat to begin adding colour when the artist did?
is this valid or to be avoided?

you expect me to take tips from a terrible chicken scratcher who uses emojis so much i couldnt even read a single word?

sadly he's right though
that tutorial is garbage

Yeah, yeah. Now that you already know chicken scratching = bad, contribute to this thread. We're proud you read the sticky.

So many good reaction faces
>>
>>2368351
That top one is kinda wrong to be honest, but I get it's the hardest one. I find people tend to exaggerate the perspective on the jaw line and also needlessly adding that second line at the bottom between neck and jaw, when in reality -most of the time- those two sections, just sort of combines in a smooth shape showing no sort of hard plane changes. Also that nose is self explainatory.
>>

contribute to this thread, i literally posted for half of the amount of the whole thread

I could be wrong, but I get the strong feeling that this is an asian skull. Someone recently made a thread about skull ethniticity, and it feels funny how I feel like I can kinda recognize where skulls come from now.

Please, he clearly uses ton of brushes. Try to do the same thing with a marker before saying this kind of bullshit.
>>
>>2367660
The think is he can acutally paint. He comes from art university background. He knows his shit, but at the same time he is too young to know where to draw a line. He should have apologised and take that shit down, but instead he goes nuts trying to defend himself. He calls people names etc. That's highly unprofessional, and simply stupid. I woudln't want to work with him in a studio.
>>
>>2368925
You are never going to make it as long as you refuse to look at what's important and instead get lost in completely irrelevant bullshit.

You need a brush that allows you to paint hard edges, firm edges and soft edges, maybe one or two with texture and that's it. You can find those brushes in literally any brusbpack on the internet. I guarantee you, you already have all the brushes you will ever need. If that artist used your brushes, the end result might look marginally different in close detail, but the image as a whole would be exactly the same. Same drawing, values, colors and edge control.

>i literally posted for half of the amount of the whole thread

Yeah faggot, surely you posted as anonymous, cuz I see nothing but half of the shitposting with your name.

Stop being autistic. It does not help that many of the tutorials have already been posted in this board since fucking forever.
>>
>>2369074
holy shit its almost like you didnt read my comment or something. Reposting tutorials in a centralized way is effective, you cant expect people to look at every thread.
>>
>>2368133
I didn't know such in depth tutorials existed for drawing cum.

fyi to people who dont know how to find stuff like this

Pintrest and tumblr are pretty good for this kind of stuff

if you only lurk 4chan then you are doing it wrong.

i can agree with most of what you quoted, but

>>2368378

is good. if you're not good at figure drawing then it might hinder you a bit, but if you've got the basics down you should absolutely be pushing the pose for the sake of clarity and movement.

i dislike that its badly drawn.

It illustrates the concept well, I don't know what else you want from a tutorial.

good visual representation of what gesture should look like. A sense of tension and pull in skeletal structure, easily readable ( where the fuck do i start), form is possible
>>
nosebro you are literally a bonesofruin tier tripfag, and for a little while I actually thought you were him tbf.

if you actually care about improving, please stop posting your inane opinions/critiques and just work on your own art.
>>

>bonesofruin tier tripfag
dont know what that means
>if you actually care about improving, please stop posting your inane opinions/critiques and just work on your own art.

you dont realize that when you help other people they will help you in the future, seeing how other people do things and the occasional redline also help me improve. I've gotten to this level in 2 years from nothing and ive only put an hour or 2 a day ( except the last 2 weeks). Its not like im in some stump of non improvement or anything. I can afford to fuck around.
>>
>>2367857
different anon, you do learn proportions of reality through studying a photo offcourse, I'd never argue that.

However picking apart features or parts of an object, the ball of the foot, the width of an ankle joint and changing it from the reference is about 20% of the study drawing i do. <3
