Name one artist that's better than Kim Jung Gi at drawing from imagination.
You can't.
Kim Jung Gi
better than himself, just himself
/thread
>>2359937
da phuc is kind of cute ngl
>>2359961
you should see him nowadays
>>2360002
DA PHUC!!
Hot as hell
>>2359932
It isnt pulled straight out of his ass, most of those creatures are from japanese folklore
Katsuya Terada.
>>2360342
ARE YOU FUCKING RETARDED YOU GIANT NECKBEARDED FAGGOT?
Anyway Kim is god, anyone who says different is an autist with no taste and no skills.
>mfw I said ~6 months ago "meh kim jung gi is not that good"
Little did I know
>>2360342
Drawing from imagination doesn't mean drawing things no one has ever drawn or seen before, you genius.
only thing I dislike is how every fellates him because he draws from imagination.
He's a great artist and the imagination thing is impressive, but judging art based on its process is stupid and the finished product usually lacks in a few aspects.
Its the same with spraypaint "artists" because its harder to spraypaint they think that makes the artist amazing for putting out decent work.
I love kim, but I don't think he deserves all the praise he gets. But then again, that's life.
>>2360375
Have you seen his sketchbooks?
He also paints
>>2360380
I have and while its great I don't think he's the best artist in the world because of it.
Its impressive and he has amazing visualization skills, but I don't see why people consider him the best / one of the best because of the fact he draws from imagination.
>>2360387
Well name a better artist than him.
>>2359932
Maybe I'm unrefined ogre, but I don't like his drawings. Everything is put on the top of each other and perspective is non-existant for the whole composition. If you look at his drawings it's really hard to focus on anything. In the drawing in OP focus should be on the centre dancing figures, but they just blend with the rest of the drawing.
I guess the only one I liked was the one that he did to commemorate Gwangju Uprising since whole composition was made from x2 fish-eye perspectives divided clearly and arranged vertically to mimick flag of South Korea.
That was clever. That was neat. Rest of his large pieces doesn't seem so. That's also why I prefered to look at his sketchbooks.
>>2360387
not the best but the most skillful, which people use the term best because he still surpass everyone in one aspect of art.
>>2360375
This, kinda. It's impressive, of course, but OP's pic doesn't really read well at all. Granted, this is just one of many, and many of his drawings do work very well, but just because it's very detailed, well drafted, and has a lot going on doesn't mean it's good.

Are you guys BLIND or something?
Holy fucking shit.
>>2360408
I don't know "better" artists. I just don't like his drawings.
>>2360408
terada, unlike kim, most of his forms and designs are actually invented from his mind rather than based on real world objects that kim does and he has better aesthetics to boot. but of course kim draws would always look more complicated compare to terada given he spam that fish eye perps and details.
>>2360391
Michelangelo
>>2360425
nice meme
>>2360430
It's true.
He used drawing as source for greater works (immortal frescoes and sculptures), while this Asian guy can’t get out of his comfort zone of drawing comic-like cartoons. This Asian guy is an artist for kids: he seems incapable of growing up.
>>2360437
You're right, fuck this asian faggot. Michelangelo is much better
>>2360391
Namaniku ATK
>>2360412
>erada, unlike kim, most of his forms and designs are actually invented from his mind
You're hilarously delusional.
> a half realistic face
> a cat
> wires and factory features
None of that is anywhere near inventive and he clearly didn't took them from his virgin ass.
>>2360500
and you're a dumbass that doesn't know how concept art and form designing works.
>All this assmad ITT
>>2360412
>Katsuya "sameface" Terada
>good
He's is like kr0n but can't paint.
>>2360555
Kr0n can paint? all I ever see from him are digitals.
>>2360412
this is fucking hilarious, and at the same time makes me worried that when i get good enough no one will actually know how to appreciate me, because they lack the understanding of whats good. Jesus
>>2360583
The process of using values, edges and colors digitally to create images on your computer is widely known as "digital painting". So yes, Kron's "digitals" are, you guessed it, digital paintings.
>>2360590
>you
>getting good
fucking hilarious :^)
>Name one artist that's better than Kim Jung Gi at drawing from imagination.
Michelangelo all the way
>>2360613
specify Digital painting next time. Terada has had solo gallery shows with up to 20 acrylic paintings.
>>2360635
Can you post something by Michelangelo that shows that? Obviously his sculptures are incredible, but they naturally were referenced. All the sketches I've seen of his are fairly mediocre, like a dirtier, more messy version of Vilppu.
I know people love to worship the old Masters, but please use your fucking brain. Michelangelo is worthy of worship for his sculptures, as a draughtsman, he doesn't have shit on KJG and a ton of other artists.
Does pic related look better than a KJG drawing to you?
>>2360672
>Michelangelo is worthy of worship for his sculptures, as a draughtsman, he doesn't have shit on KJG and a ton of other artists.
wut?
>>2360677
Kim jung shit BTFO
>>2360672
Also, you should know that he burned the vast majority of his drawings and sketches (he was a proud man and wished that only the finished Works survive; so if you search, for example, the Sistine Chappell ceiling, for which he made thousands of drawings, you will find only a few remaining drafts – the rest he personally destroyed).
>>2360672
look at the quality of this cross-hatching
>>2360555
This has to be bait. At least Terada can vary his motifs quite a bit, instead of just drawing sameface omg so kawaii desu girlchans.
Also, dat linework.
>>2360677
this >>2360712 for cross-hatching with pen and ink, but look at this modeling style with black chalk (pic)
Cunt-eyes don't have souls so by definition Kim a shit.
>>2360754
Also plebs don't know about their own artists, not a single one of you mentioned Moebius.
>>2360763
I came here to post Moebius actually
>>2360775
Came for moebius, stayed for Michelangelo
ITT no one know what drawing
from imagination actually means.
O hai
I honestly don't think his busy compositions read well
>>2360391
Steve Huston.
>>2360590
'lack an understanding of whats good'...translation, everything I don't like is crap
>>2360391
He's really good, but his work is not interesting in the slightest. It's usually too much of a clusterfuck to convey much of a coherent scene.
I've seen really bad artists produce things that draw my attention better.
>>2361581
I find his sketchpages more interesting.
His big compositions kind of have that "if you have seen one you have seen them all"-effect
>>2360391
michelangelo
>>2361507
how can you on such small screens? wait to see it irl or wait for mediocre screens to be wall size (and consume 0.01 watts so that normies can start appreciating digital work)
