Oils, or acrylics? Either way, a decent set of 10 to 12 colors is a decent starting point, and any set of brushes that includes so large a small flats and rounds is as good a starting place as any.

Bro I honestly go to wal mart and get their acrylic paint. The most expensive kind (Apple Barrel). It's like a dollar a bottle. And I also get my paintbrushes there. I don't remember seeing a stand. You will spend like 15 bucks for a ton of shit. And if you know how to mix colors... All u need is red, blue, yellow, white, black.

don't do this. you can find way better acrylics that are still cheap as shit as hobby stores and art supply stores. also you will get a way better range by having more colors than the primaries + b/w. having a warm and a cool version of each color is advisable (e.g. lemon yellow and cadmium yellow)

This is a Koi I did about a year ago. And it's done with wal mart paint. It's a 4'x 5' canvass. Had several offers but I don't want to let it go just yet.

Hey thank you for being real. It's hard to get an honest opinion. And you are probably right about the paint I was just letting the dude know what's a decent paint to get for a new artist. I've used this stuff for a while now and it seems to be pretty good. What paint would you recommend and why?
