Has any of you ever done a course at one of those classical ateliers?
How was it?Can you recommend it?
There's an atelier near me; I might start attending next summer if I can bring myself to part with my precious, precious money.

I haven't, but know other (professional) artists that have, and it has really upped their game. art college tends to teach you how to think creatively, whereas ateliers teach you the technical proficiency.

Not all ateliers are equal. If you have any near you I suggest researching into what methods they teach, what the work of the teachers looks like, what the student work looks like etc. Some clearly will be better than others. Some will teach construction, some will teach sight-size, some are open minded, some are closed minded.
Most let you book a tour and talk with the main professor.
I think ateliers can be great if your goals align with what they teach. If your goals are different from their goals you are in for a seriously bad time though.
