default real 2b pencil is GREAT if you have tilt sensitivity (intuos pro). closer to the real thing than anything else i've seen.

other than that, i don't really like it much. you better forget about it and learn to use photoshop properly.

There is something really wrong with the engine. The black value in painter can't reached as dark as in other programs for some reasons. If you save as a PSD file an open it in Photoshop you can colorpick and see

check your color profile: canvas>color managment settings>default RGB profile>choose the sRGB WITH bpc

also, you shouldn't really embed color profiles in your files unless you're doing your own professional printing

this make me sad PS is like bringing a machinegun to a fist fight

The brushes in it are super nice and easy to understand if you're coming from or want it to look like traditional mediums. The paper texture is my favourite thing in it. If you're asking to compare it to ps, then just get ps, but painter is a nice tool along side it.
