ITT Post the piece of art that you created in 2015 that you enjoy the most
ill bite, i really like how this came out, flaws and all.
This isn't some anatomy, shading or painting master piece, but i love it, everything was made by my hands. My inspiration was those amazing Kingdom Hearts Stained Glass art.
Still feel like i havnt out done this, even though i never finished it
I jumped back into digital and animu girls shortly afterward.
probably I should get rid of my tablet
I did around 75 paintings and over 200 drawings this year so i'll try to pick the one's I liked the most.
I'll start with this one from this month called "Thermidor"
best observational drawing i did this year
best observational painting from this year also my favorite self portrait from this year
it is not my favorite but that one has no good photos so here, my next favorite piece
i feel like i'm getting worse every year, but this is my favorite from earlier this year, because i absolutely LOVE toshino kyouko
Never had time to draw this year except for this doodle. It was my first time using a pallet knife, I used a crappy dollar brush for the leaves and grass. I kinda like how it turned out, what do you guys think?
>TL;DR I wanted to feel like Bob Ross
I'm pretty fond of this one, even if I kinda fucked up on on the arm. Pretty pleased with my progress, just wish I could shed the animu a bit more.
Definitely not my best work this year but the one I had most fun with. First time doing isometric stuff and I just love it.
I drew it as a gift but I'm fond of how it all turned out
I did some sketches and took some photographs... and failed to come up with illustrations for a high school contact because I suck...
It's not even finished and since I improved a lot since this summer I can see a lot of mistakes but I guess it's this one. one day i'll paint it...one day.
probably this one.
great thread!, hope you all achieve your goals in the new year !
i tried to learn to paint this year (mostly over the summer), i liked this one the most, i think.
this is really cool!! i'm curious too, what were the others in the series like?
can't believe chunbum is still here. keep on keeping on dude
i really liked the lines on this one!! was all the hatching and shit done traditionally and scanned in?
i like this!! very simple, even in its story, but it works. thumbnail is interesting.
i still like this one too!! your fun character stuff and your more developed painting stuff always feel very separate, but this one combines them both nicely.
awful phone camera but probably this for traditional work. as for digital, ugh, making it this year's goal to improve that
I think this one was probably one of my favorites I did this year. I don't really care too much for the picture it's self, but I learned a lot from working on it. I wan to make more pictures similar to this, but with better understanding of composition/story telling. Plus, it was amazingly fun just adding figures interacting with each other.
I enjoyed this one the most. My reasons are the following: The composition was simple and yet had a good hirachy of focals points. And with my predisposition for serene wildlife I was happy with how this came to be a serene wildlife. Also I really liked the use of low opacity brush to create intresing patterns in addition to that the figures are reduced to very simple elements, this gives the painings an abstract quality which also made this the most enyojable one.
I did a lot of experimentation with this one, mix of traditional and digital. For my location drawing class. I know it has its problems but I like where I'm headed with it.
Water color and gouache paint. The zodiac sign Scorpio. It isn't perfect, but I was proud of myself for utilizing reference photos for her pose.
Liking my huion h610pro even thou it bugs quite often.. Got it as my first, so i'm satisfied as for now
This one. Doesn't look so good to me but looking at the first picture of this year http://imgur.com/jipxwJk I feel like I advanced a lot,
>nice job dude I was here through it all, haha, the amount of times you changed things and adjusted stuff.
As pathetic as it may sound the illustration wasn't as difficult as the music. :s
I really haven't done any substantial art at all this year. I don't know what to do about my lack of motivation
this is the closest to a finished illustration i've done in 2015.
Damn this looks fucking good anon.
Only thing that frustrates me a tad is the huge vein on his hand.
The thickness seems almost correct, but the shape of it across his hand seems rather unnatural.
If I tense up my hand heavily I don't really see a vein at that angle.
Makes me think of some red sea slug that really wants to be a bird.
One day, by some miracle it is granted magical powers to control the water.
It uses the water to take on the form of a beautiful bird, rising high above the ocean in a burst of pure ecstasy.
Then an actual bird flies past and eats it.
Cue record rip sound effect. The music stops, and only the sound of the ocean and birds flying by can be heard.
Music playing faintly in the background of such a story would be this:
enjoyed it the most simply due to an experiment with organic shapes paying off better than i'd hoped.
it was also my first time using a softer pen nib.
Well, that's about right, because the story behind that statue was, basically:
"well, I want to make a phoenix, but cobalt (blue) glass is just so much better. Ok then, since phoenix is a mythical creature anyway, who says it can't be formed from water?"
I haven't gotten around to a proper photo yet but this is the last painting of 2015 and the one I liked the most
man havent you seen that anatomy its absolutely terrible he clearly didnt read loomis 4 times as suggested in the sticky blah blah
I guess this is technically the best thing I have on my computer from 2015. feels bad, this is only a half assed study and still the best I got. my tablet stopped working and I had to go traditional for 6 months, which was good for my anatomy and values, but completely ruined my sense of color and sketching digitally
but here's my favorite thing from this year
Probably this. I've also really enjoyed making my comic that this goes with. Sorry for mediocre picture quality, it's 18"x24".
I hate everything I draw
and I've been here for years
This only because it's the only thing I drew all year that was more than a sketch or just a random character standing there. It reminds me that I need to get back on the drawing wagon since I pretty much did all of 3 to 6 actual art pieces this whole year. Back to the drawing/study board.
Shitty drawing I know. Wanting to become a graphic novelist but can't seem to sit down and actually attempt to draw anything that comes to mind most of the time. Critique as you wish, you cannot offend me.
Astrip that required a LOT of research and designwork, but it paid off. The columns and staff ate up 4 pages of sketchbook, and cleanup of the strip was more involved, but I'm proud of it...
I started working looser this year and I've really enjoyed the outcome. This is an oil portrait of my friend Luis
Although I can draw from reference it is only imagination where I struggle. I can have good days.
I was going to post something serious but then I thought that I had the most fun with this one.
Last thing I did digitally. Can't post full res. Hope I get better this year so I can get better jobs. Going to completely revamp my portfolio, if the one I have can even be called that.
Really nice, good job. The construction lines and smudges of paint around the edges really add to it, I love it!
Lovely , I'm totally jealous of your anatomy and linework. Pls finish and post OP.
Cute as shit, nice work.
Superb, loose drawings. Lovely.
I actually really like these, even if others don't. What were your intentions with them? As pretentious as that sounds.
Beautiful. 10/10 would have in my house.
Love your use of light and texture.
Nice tones and textures brah.
Would buy print of, really nice work.
Uh, why exactly you daw that shitty comic like if it was an adventure time knockoff that has been transported back in time and spent its childhood on 2006 /b/ and the teenage years in /r9k/ if you can actually draw like that? are you fucking retarded?
?? You're quoting your own post because you didn't get enough attention? I think this is mostly meant as a share thread, but were you looking for critique?
Here's your (You), I guess.
>I actually really like these, even if others don't. What were your intentions with them? As pretentious as that sounds.
thanks for your kind words bruh
I was really just experimenting
basically I got full page photos out of some 1970s knitting magazines from the thrift store
then created a stencil of each guy and layered it over the top of each photo
then rolled acrylic paint over the pics
then fed each page through the printer and printer random JPGS over them
then removed the stencil and stuck them on pages of text and added faces
this year was pretty mediocre imo, this one was probably the one least offensive to my eyes desu
That's kinda cute, you just gotta work on proportions and anatomy, then go to stylized drawing. If you want to get even better, then you learn how to draw clothing, fold, ya know, perspective, and so on.
>I deleted everything
The only true mistake you can make in art is running away from your past production. Either you learn to live with it or you'll be making the same mistake once and again.
I just started drawing 6 months ago and only did two acryllics, but I'm satisfied with this one
Probably pic related. Not really because of the quality (most faces are shit, and top half is rushed) but because of the sheer amount of effort I put into it.
Girl in the man looks like my ex.. Fuck, man. :/ successful trigger is successful.
That canopy is truly beautiful, anon.
Is this trad or digital? Nice work regardless, your linework is stellar, sans whatever happened on the boxing glove.
The perception of depth here is, IMO, actually pretty powerful. However, there are a lot of inconsistencies that I don't think would be too challenging to clean up - like the roof of the church, and how it doesn't really connect to the Bell tower whatsoever. Extending the height of the roof behind the tower would remedy this.
The pickets in the fence also seem to come from a different perspective than the observer, but fences can be rickity and I don't see it as too much of a problem if you don't.
I really like this, anon. Nothing negative to say.
What don't you like about this?
The only problem I see is that area of white under the left arm (from the observers POV) that diminishes the bicep. It's a pretty exceptional piece.
I would love to shake your hand, one day. >>2335268
Pretty fond of both The Wolf & Hershel.
More contrast for more impact
I'm gunna say no, for this one. Maybe I don't understand, but I cannot discern what could have compelled you to make this. Looks like the kind of experiment I'd never show another soul.
I like your style.
I disagree with the other anon, that hair is a definite success.
I like the hair here much less, but the skin is fucking immaculate, anon.
Other than some of the unfortunate errors in the staircases, I love this piece. Exceptional. Keep it up.
Good direction, keep working at those jaws, tho.
This is the kind of shit I tried to do all through school & failed miserably at.
Well done, sir.
Right, so now that I've ripped into you guys, I expect just the same.
Tear my shit up, please.
this one, cause I rarely ever draw what I want and I spend most of my time practicing like you guys told me.
did this early in the year, its pretty small and i lost the physical piece which im mad about. i had to rip this from my Instagram
One wall from a mural I did over the summer. I think I could have done better on the art itself, but I'm proud of myself for completing such a (literally) big project. And I apologize for the blurry photo, but I won't spam the thread with close-ups.
Probably this one, way back at the beginning of the year too...
Was the first time I managed to get likeness and expression down. Fond memory.
this is the only painting I did last year that I could even call finished. what a shit year
I haven't been drawing as much as I'd like to, but I really like how this pic turned out.
I'm working on learning how to draw landscapes. Then i'm going to drop these monstrosities into the drawings. I've only got my new sketch book so my 2015 book is at home. I need to draw more
The fact that this is the nicest out of the 5 things I drew last year pisses me off.
With so many to choose from, who could care?
Though the best of what's there is hidden, I fear.
Best one this year. Really hate the lazy-ass background, cause no knowledge on environmental composition and all other excuses, but still, this is the personal top tier right here.
Thanks dude, glad you like it. This one would have been my second choice.
I wish I spent more time drawing tiddy bress. 2016 resolutions I guess
looks like you just copied someones Juri han artwork or figurine and changed it a bit. Kek.
Or, they could have used it as a reference photo...
Really liking this have you ever tried just drawing the contours as an excercise? Kim jung gi does it so well, i think your work would look so much better in a cleaner style with line width variation to creat weight in the subject.
noice, real noice folds, my current weakness i'm trying to fix at the moment. I got me a copy of Hogarths drapery book and still haven't opened it after all these months.
It's not perfect but it was my second ever oil painting and I learnt a lot through the whole process.
Amazing job on the texture and clothing. Feel like the mask could use a little more perspective though. Doesn't really blend well with the rest
Last year was my first year working as an artist (artist/animator for a small games company) so I done barely any personal art this year which is a bit strange, happy enough with some comic work I done though, not sure how that flies here.
Also there are some killer fucking artists on this thread.
Google "vincent van gogh yellow house"
Looks like /ic/ really knows its stuff.
I was mostly happy that I was able to convince myself to do work for myself. I've always been bad at motivating myself to actually make art.
did 2 of these but i like this one better
I think it is this, I yet have to create something similar successfull
