>tfw nobody in your family or any of your friends knows that you draw gay furry/scalie porn and get paid for it occasionally
anyone else know this feel?
Yep I can definitely relate. I'm lucky that they don't ask what I draw, since they know that I do sell art. I guess they're under the impression I only sell to friends because I had mentioned that I sold something to a friend once.
Even if they asked I'd probably lie anyway though. Just show them a pic of a kitten or something.
All my friends and family know I draw fporn for money because I don't like lying/I think its a funny and legitimate way to make money and I don't mind talking about it.
here. 90 base/+45 per char/+20-40 for random shit (extra panels, weird fetishes, alt versions). Living comfortably right now just working a couple hours a day on it while I work on my chem degree.
all the time and yeah for now. I'm in a cheap apartment I don't have much bills, doing commissions every couple days pays for everything and then some.
nah it starts at 90. I know when it comes to like, illustration that seems like not much but come on its mediocre furry porn the fact that I can get money at all at my current skill level is good enough.
Seem to be going that way myself. I've got a long way to go, though.
Like fuck. I remember you. You have, most definitely, some of the best linework I've seen. There's nothing remotely bad about your rendering, either.
Reminds me of someone I know who is absolutely convinced he's bad yet pumps out genuinely brilliant stuff.
>Been doing small illustrations for children's books and magazines
>Low pay but it's pretty fulfilling
>Been thinking about on going for furry commission for additional dosh
Is becoming a furry/porn artist is the equivalent of being a prostitute?
OP i think i remember you
you live in Poland iirc and earn more than minimum income with commissions, best compliment to you is that people fap to your pics?
if you are that one thanks for the experience you shared the last time i saw you
if not thanks for sharing it now
i hope to do the same in near future. cheers
can this be a general com thread?
what do you guys reckon is your hourly wage when drawing?
is it true furries are willing to pay more than your average customer?
i think i'm doing fairly well at 200usd per full body character but i'm wonder if furry art would be worth my time to learn.
i am not opposing a general commission thread, but to you and everyone else: check the fucking catalog, there should be a fairly good thread on commissions ( which we have almost every day ) floating around
look out for "commission pricing" or something like that
I heard you can make a lot of easy money drawing fporn because people just want to see their fetish no matter how good it is.
But would it be a good idea to dabble drawing fporn when you know later on you want to go into the illustration industry as a professional?
Seems kind of bad having that backlogging you.
Learning how to draw furries isn't too hard if you can draw animals decently. Just stick their head on top of a human body. The only minor difficulty may be the digitigrade legs.
Pay more compared to what? Professional illustrations or anime fans on deviantart? 200 sounds a bit high for the average furry unless it's really good work. Seems more like "popufur" prices but I may not be the best judge of that.
People are willing to spend more money the more obscure/gross their fetish is, because less people are willing to draw it. General furry art isn't really an obscure specialty, so keep that in mind when thinking "furries pay more".
Yes. The easy solution is to do your furry shit in an anime style since it all looks the same, standards are low as shit, it's easy and it's unlikely you would ever need it for professional work.
Well, they actually do charge in that price range:
So you can do it if you can get an audience. Though drawing lewd would be a huge cash cow. You could even charge extra for nsfw images if you get enough of a following.
That's no horse cock. That's a flat-head human weiner. Where's the medial ring?
Are you underage?
Because you act like you're undeage.
My friends are all normalfags and they know and don't seem to give a fuck.
My ex-boyfriend, who didn't know about the porn but knew I drew Anthro at the time asked me to draw porn of my character for him. He was a total normal aside from being a raging homo, into sports and clubbing and shit. Weirded me out.
Pretty much the same for any community.
>Establish yourself by posting art
>If fanbase starts to gather, do gifts art.
>Art swap with some famous artists etc
>Then do commission bit by bit until you're fully confident.
not that guy, but it doesn't matter if you draw fetish. You can make money as long as you are above the cream of the crap. Saying this obscure fetishes like vore and inflation are guaranteed commissions. You just need to throw something better than other artists so they have nowhere else to go to for their fapping fix.
TL;DR git gud and draw what you think is hot. Money can come quick.
I did the same, only for MLP:Fim. I only watched 2-3 episodes but I made money in the end.
For about 30 drawings I earned about $600-700. Which is alright. That includes the Google Adsense clicks I get on my YouTube for recording the painting process I do and give advice for absolute beginners. I am literally paid twice for doing one piece.
Sure, I'm nowhere near gaben's level, but I have gotten a couple commissions.
I've been trying to use that place to find stylistic elements that work well, nab them, and attempt to build a catch-all (or catch-as-much-as-possible) appealing style just for furry crap.
Unfortunately people seem to go full retard with favouriting shit so, every time I find a correlation, there's always a load of massive fucking exceptions.
I know that feel and it sucks having my computer in the same room as my step brother. I can only draw this garbage when he's not around, the alternative is raising red flags and moving my computer to my room. It sucks because it means I wouldn't be able to finish commissions in a timely manner.
Also I feel like I wouldn't draw many commissioners in because I deviate too far from the shows style. I mean I could use illustrator and create your typical cookie cutter, but too many goddamn people do that shit and it isn't challenging.
Is pic related an example? I'm not even into MLP that much, but shit if I was I wouldn't mind commissioning if you brushed up your fundamentals a bit.
And even then, just learn how to do pic related and do something more on the show's style. It doesn't seem that difficult.
> immediate family knows i draw porn for some disposable income because i openly talk about it like any other job
> at least one of my parents is disappointed/disgusted in me
> mfw they borrow money from me all the time anyways
So are you saying you do or don't sell art?
Its alright, I ran into another pony artist who got a few sales for that style pony art but they were only popular around stylish girls. Adult men into my little pony only ever applied if they had hundreds of dollars and wanted to have the biggest art collection of their fan character possible.
Plumbruise was one of the usernames on dA I remember that did this sorta style. There's was a bit more confidently paintede than yours though.
yes pic related is a WIP (should have clarified that from the beginning but forgot). Have been taking figure drawing for 3 days a week and it really helps a lot, even for the pony stuff. I study horse anatomy and really all types of animal anatomy.
No I don't sell art at the moment mainly for the reason stated above. I also can't seem to push my paintings to their full potential and as a result I have a lot of WIP's that never get finished because I always feel like they look terrible. If you're interested here's my DA and you'll see what I mean. http://someschmoe.deviantart.com/
>That seems so obvious I wonder if people get suspicious on motives. I wonder if it really works?
I'm sure they'd get suspicious if you're shit or you just ask them out of the blue, but if you try to build up a presence, "like" their stuff, try to make friends, etc. then it doesn't really matter what your motives are; pretty much everyone else is playing the same game.
I've actually considered that sometimes. Have you tried looking at only clean art? It should help rule out the "I only like this because it's porn" exceptions. Then narrow it down to one of three main styles. Cutsey/chibi/toony, semi-cartoonish standard, or realistic. From there you can see which kinda of substyles like coloring does best.
I think the only thing you can really do is try to have a unique style that and good quality art.
I actually really like that, even if I can see your issues with it. You could totally open for commissions if you can bring yourself to finish your pieces. Though I actually have a bit of the same problem myself but I could account for less skill there.
I wouldn't worry about the style if you think it's too "creepy" or unsettling. CrookedTrees' art got so popular that he got quite a few copycats (such as Pigfish unless that was actually an alt). Though granted his was less realistic.
Actually, might be a good idea to check out his art if you want to see how someone else blends the show's style in a bit more, assuming you're interested in that. Another artist with uncanny art that comes to mind is sharpieboss but they're not quite as popular.
If you want to tone down how uncanny it is instead of play it to your advantage, you'd need to remove as many humanoid features as you can. Also I'd perhaps move Maud's nostrils a bit further apart to the sides to look less alien and more like an actual horse.
I'd actually like to see examples of the "typical furry style" I see mentioned sometimes. I can't really think of what it could be. Some mix of disney-warner-anime?
I hadn't thought of that, even if I would just be mostly doing porn for the jewgolds. Although the most popular stuff always seems to be female pinups with big eyes and good gestural quality that's not all I'd want to end up doing.
As for "typical furry style", I think they mean the Robin Hood-esque anime-influenced stuff I see a lot, with exaggerated legs and anatomy that seems to be based on observation of the shapes rather than actual anatomy.
I have a paypal account, but it's my real name so a no go. From what I hear you can't have two accounts (how would one go about having two accounts that are registered to the same address? Would they not maybe look into it?) unless you register a business, and they can also close your account if they find out you're getting money from drawing pornography.
>you can always create a new account with fake everything
Admittedly I can't remember how registering Paypal accounts go as I made mine back in 2008, but I'm pretty damn positive that isn't allowed as the names need to be the same (with whatever you're choosing to verify).
You also don't want to fuck with your money.
Eh, as logical as that may be I still get a visceral feeling of wrongness about having my name (possible face) associated with furry porn.
I guess I hope to one day be famous or at least do serious art professionally and I wouldn't want some old furry porn I drew when I was 20 to come back and bite me in the ass. Can you dig it?
Yeah I assumed you'd be doing porn but I think it's still valuable to look at clean art to specifically see style trends and see which of the main three is easiest for you to do.
So fairly animalistic toony builds (like how Little John is pretty much a bear) but with anime eyes and hair? Hmm. I guess I can understand that seeming like the typical style, oddly enough I see a lot less of it the deeper you go into furry. More humanoid builds and anime influence or outright realism. There's also a weird tumblr style starting to crop up.
There's been past threads about this. Maybe a guide on using paypal needs to be added to the sticky.
Make a business account to hide your name.
Use invoices so that they don't have a chance to write a stupid description.
Don't have any links to your porn username in case you mess up.
Or you can use bitcoin, which has no "regulator" or payment processor with a bias against porn, and you can sell whatever you want with it without worry of having your account frozen. Transactions are irreversible too, so you don't have to worry about commissioners reversing a transaction/making an abuse claim/etc. There are many services that will cash out your bitcoin for USD when you need it.
If it was good enough for the silk road, it's good enough for furry fetish porn.
>still shows real name on address
Maybe if you set the invoice as goods and not a service? I haven't run into that, there's probably an option to set what your address' attached name appears as, though them having your actual home address is more info than you'd probably want to be leaked anyway.
This is how it looks like on a customer's end to send me cash to my business account. (not invoice) It was actually just a friend gifting me and is heavily censored, but regardless it should be proof enough that the real name doesn't show up.
How do I get more watchers? I can maybe upload art once every three days, or do I need to upload more to get noticed? Should I also go around commenting shit loads on random peoples work to get noticed too? I've seen users with thousands of watchers and they barely ever give comments as evidenced on their profile page (and their art seems average/amateur to me too) so I'm curious as to how to go about getting more noticed. For those who have 1000+ watchers, how often did you submit art, what else/nothing else did you do?
I wish I could draw anthromorphic characters. I'm not even that good at drawing the human form unless it's from observation. And the biggest problem for me when be drawning with stylization, which I can't do.
Where do you learn to stylize your art?
This is amazing. I never knew there were so many different shaped dicks. Humans are so boring
>dolphin dick - all streamlined like a dolphin
>reptile dick - 2 dicks cause so primitive needs to double down
>horse dick - has funky horse patterns on it
>giraffe dick - kinda looks like a giraffe
>tapir dick - is a tapered dick
>armadillo dick - ribbed dick
>elephant dick - wrinkled gray old skin dick
>kangaroo dick - balls on top dick - cause kangaroos kinda fucked up
>pig dick - corkscrewed like a pigs tail
>bat dick - looks like tiny nigger dick
>glider dick - best dick, the superposition of all dicks, double telescoping streamlined dick
>human dick - worst dick, looks like a wussy baby dick. Would lose in badass dick fight
I'm obsessed with dicks now
I watched livestreams.
All the rest
Take comfort in this my dear child.
There is no need to be ashamed
You learn stuff from the bottom up.
The artist makes fundamentals balls easy.
I usually look for distinct styles or quirks.
Like twinkles in eyes or giving a character more personality than just a white page behind him.
An easy one is Slugbox.
That is, if you are moderately alright.
Of course there's the trap loving Incase, and the thick LM legoman.
Best way to start is just dive.
Slugbox is okay, but I feel like it's too stylized for my taste. I don't think s/he knows too much about fundamentals. InCase and Legoman are better at that, they understand human form. InCase has a better sense of lighting, but my favorite artist is VeraMundis. That guy makes wonderful textures and the lighting makes everything really pop out at you.
slugbox is garbage. regardless of that dont rely on other artist's styles to create your own, its caused nothing but a style circlejerk amongst everyone wanting to become the next poju/doxy/noill/whoever. there are countless shitty copycats that try to draw all those things that make these artists stand out without any understanding of how those things work and they all look the fucking same
>slugbox is easy
I was calling him a casual but yea okay.
He admitts that his overall knowledge of anatomy is 2% but his hug box of fans keep him where he is. Poor nigga starvin.
A style that is admirable is Pixar and old/mid Disney. But right now I'm trying to find my two feet after not drawing for months.
Hey man, I wasn't trying to say your taste was bad. I just don't like Slugbox. His art is just a lot of style and no fundamentals. It's as if art was a cupcake and style was the frosting. Well he's all frosting.
The other artists I mentioned have cake and frosting in their art; good skills and style.
So if you like Pixar old/mid Disney, have you seen Feast or Duet yet? I think Duet is online for sure, it's made by Glen Keane and it's so beautiful.
Porn general thread? SWEET
I have a question, how do you define dynamic poses/angles for porn? Do you use references? Of what kind?
I'm a pretty subpar artist so I still fuck up while drawing anatomy unless I use reference, yet my references are rather boring (and therefore, boring images).
Pic related, it's the kind of images that I'd like to do at certain point (I know that some of the anatomy is off tho)
Use reference for sure but have a creative side. I guess you should look at Japanese doujins since they are the best at making stylized cartoon porn.
Haha, I love doujins, man, that's pretty much why I want to start doing that kind of crazy perspectives and stuff.
Sometimes I get this feeling that they just simplify shapes, apply vanishing points and work with that.
I like the work of some japanese gfur artists. Even if most of them are a muscle galore, some of them make nice poses/expressions/angles. Amakuchi can be a nice example.
(censored because this is a christian board)
Is everyone a furry here? Not that I'm criticizing, I also appreciate good art that just happens to be made by furry artists.
What do you think of Jyoka or Sindoll? I know they are furry artists, their work is pretty good for the department they are in.
This guy's my favorite artist, I just like his painting skills a lot.
Apparently most porn artist have some involvement with furries at certain point.
Makes sense considering that furries is a fandom that widely accepts and encourages porn and various fetishes, giving liberties to artists to do pretty much anything that they want.
I remember some porn artist mentioning that he didn't find market drawing humans, but after he started drawing furries he had quite a following (forgot the name of the artist, I apologize).
Veramundis is impressive, I really love his style and designs. Sindoll is another one of my fav artists, he makes some rather attractive characters with wonderful clean lines.
I'm not that fond of Jyoka's work, but damn, he makes some hot stuff.
I can't really mention that I have -one- fav artist, most of them excel in one aspect or another (and usually being extremely bad in others). Personally I like the lightheartedness of Null-ghost and spookeedoo, and the rendering of darkgem's drawings, snowskau makes some pretty neat character designs, etc
Probably. I'm pretty much amazed at the good artists on Furaffinity. The most decent ones if not great are Miles, Wolfy Nail, and Bittenhard. A lot of good artists in a sea of fetish garbage (it really is just bad art but funded by people who need that certain fetish). I wouldn't mind drawing sexy anthros but I really don't want to come off as a furfag.
Oh yeah, Veramundis is my inspiration. He made me take painting seriously because I want to achieve his sense of lighting and gradation texturing he's got. Sindoll is great in the lines department even though it seems a lot of his characters are same faced. And Jyoka, well, I only mentioned him because of his new doujin that actually has decent anthromorphic creatures.
>Personally I like the lightheartedness of Null-ghost and spookeedoo, and the rendering of darkgem's drawings, snowskau makes some pretty neat character designs, etc
Sorry man, I don't know any of these guys. But for character design I really like Polywurmple's characters and their body shapes.
Oh I didn't know bittenhard, pretty nice stuff!
And yeah, coming off as a furfag isn't a good idea. An alternative would be simply not joining a furry site but having a tumblr or something where you happen to upload anthros every now and then, that usually works with artists that try to get away from their "roots" so to say.
Yeah, most of those artists make gfur stuff, so I don't really advise you to check them out if it grosses you out too much, excepting snowskau, I have a hunch that you'll like his stuff (search iratecactus tumblr in google).
This guy has some pretty cool stuff. I like his work. I wonder what the appeal is of drawing anthromorphic characters. Maybe it's because of that beast like quality they carry or maybe they can have a cute appeal that humans can't have.
But if it's stylization I guess you can bend a human's appearance anyway you want.
gfur -> gay fur
Oh man, i keep an account in FA, but I watch 2.4k artists. many of them being rather awful. And I would tell you my acc, but damn I still feel ashamed of my own work, I need some more time.
I think that you pointed out his appeal pretty well. He has a pretty effective stylization imo.
I see a lot of potential artist and talented ones in the furry community and I felt like its such a waste for them to use it for fetish and porn.
But is it really a waste though? Can a porn artist in general still able to land a gig on a legit art career considering their past works?
Aw man, don't sweat it. I wouldn't mind adding you on FA. It's just nice talking to other artist who can appreciate good furry art without being disgusted by the category of art itself.
And ha, I thought gfur was something else, kind of like what g-funk music is.
>all these disgusting animal fuckers who dont draw chubby girls in their alone alone time.
I sent the pix >>1848377, >>1844966 to all my friends, then in made my wife read the equine tutorial so we could discuss the specialization of dicks over dinner.
We must have said dicks almost 1000 times. We're pretty normal people, not furries, just engineers, it was a very scientific conversation - thanks /ic!
Well, I feel accomplished.
For what it's worth, I can supply some trivia. Most of it should be correct. I'm actually also rather scientifically minded and grew up watching too much Animal Planet, where I learned some of this.
The medial ring on horsecocks is where the inside of the sheath attaches to the penis. When the shaft exits, it folds the skin into a ring. Their heads only flare at orgasm, to keep the semen in.
Canines have knots (the bulge at the base of the shaft) to lock the female in place and keep the semen in. It apparently is one of the more "sensitive" areas for the male.
Humans and relatives on the other hand have shovel-like heads designed to scrape competitor's semen out.
Fossa of both sex have spines on their genitals. While males have it on their dicks, immature female fossas have them on their clit to prevent rape.
Pigs aren't the only species with a corkscrew penis. Ducks also do to an even further extent, and females have vaginas that screw the opposite way to also stop rape, as ducks rape anything, even dead animals. Most birds lack penises, oddly enough. Pigs DO have orgasms that last 30 minutes, however.
The barbs on cat penises causes the female to ovulate, they do not ovulate monthly.
Alligator penis is ALWAYS erect.
Both the penis and vaginas of dolphins are fully prehensile, and females are known to time orgasms with their partners. In addition to commonly molesting human swimmers.
(Some?) Marsupials have vaginas that fork into three tunnels.
Reptilians only use one penis at a time and alternate.
Turtle penises are giant in comparison to their body size.
I agree with you man! I actually need someone who I can ask about poses and good critique without creeping them out or them sugarcoating their opinion.
Errr... I feel kinda awkward leaving my nickname over here, I'm rather awful as an artist and I'd prefer to avoid being critiquized by /ic/ for the moment (this semester is pretty rough so I don't have time to draw).
I'm not the guy you've been replying to but I checked out of curiosity. Your work isn't shit. Especially for furry pr0nz it has some potential. The only thing is you only really have two pieces up. You need to make some more stuff.
Hey, thanks man! I still have a lot of things to improve (I've been told that anatomy is my strong point, and I'm pretty damn sure that it's pretty awful).
Lately the only things that I upload are quick sketches in my main account, but I plan on changing that once I get a break from school.
I noticed, thanks a lot man!
Just barely a bit more.
I got asked for doing commissions in the past (and I'm still being asked every now and then), but I rejected them because I don't feel confident enough to do a good picture.
I'm pretty much starting out, even if I've been doing smut for a while now, I barely have time to do something half decent (my main account is full of sketches for example).
Commissons is a good way to practice. You have to make sure you know how much you are worth first, of course.
Also, if you cater to people's specific fetishes I think your art level will suffice.
I wish, especially when I wanna draw like this guy.
There's been posts advocating migration to a new community because of the recent events that happened with moot and /v/. You probably haven't seen them because the mods have been deleting those posts.
I really didn't understand what that whole /v/ thing was about. Is this about the gate scandal?
You know, now that you mentioned it I remember seeing a thread here where the topic was what other boards people visited. And I saw someone post that everyone was trying to migrate to another board, but I thought that was just one person.
What are the other alternatives to this place anyway?
Does anyone know good tutorials or artists to look at for drawing bears?
Here's my first anthro attempt, but I think it looks too cat-like.
That actually looks pretty spot on for resembling a bear, though the sketch itself is a bit iffy.
You could round out the head as a whole. Maybe you're crossing it with memories of the fluffy cheeks of the Warner LoonyToon style where they give Sylvester and rabbits wide fluffy cheeks. Maybe watch the Brother Bear movies.
Psh that's nothing. Try explaining your tickle fetish porn business to someone and see what they say.
Also currently working on an /ss/ commission. I will certainly go to hell. But at least I'm getting pizzaid.
No problem. And just to clarify, since I reread what I said and found it misleading.
I meant that maybe it resembles a cat to you because of the other styles imprinted on you if you grew up with it. Though realistically felines and rabbits don't have those features.
Real bears do tend to have a rounder face rather than a distinct forehead, but it does help it appear anthro and does seem to be a trend in some art.
It might also depend on the exact species like grizzly vs brown vs kodiak etc, so perhaps try to reference a specific one so you don't get mixed up.
This thread is really making me question how many furry porn artists are actually furries and how many are just cashing in on the popularity. Can't imagine the drama if one of the popular ones turn out to be like that.
Reading comics was nightmare in the 90's because of this.
I mean, shit I understand wanting to imitate Jim Lee and somewhat McFarlane but Rob Liefield? Regardless of fundamentals, his style sucks gay furry lizard balls (see I returned to topic)
Yeah I know.
Maybe my artistic eye died when I didn't draw in a few months.
Though pretty soon I'll be
>"what the fuck did I just learn? It's useless."
