Hey there /ic/ I'm still working on my general artistic skills and what have you.

These are some of my primary OC's, I revisit their designs fairly often and I was wondering if anyone would like to give some input or suggestions.

I am inviting criticism on my designs, but please don't be overly hateful or spiteful. "it's just bad" isn't helpful.

Please ignore any troll posts.

thanks for your time!

Whats the context for these characters (setting, story etc)?
>>
Here's a blurb I posted elsewhere.

My girls are members of a race born of the melding of mankind and machine, hundreds of years in the future the Technological Singularity was achieved thanks to a major breakthrough in Artificial Intelligence. Mankind was reborn.

Their race contains a fictional synthetic crystal in their joints, the crystal is very very efficient for the piezoelectric effect so whenever they are squeezed they produce electricity, their bones are made up of a psuedo-fixed nanite polymer that bends a lot more than average but is still capable of breaking, their muscles are a similar but far more rubbery material, and their skin is essentially a pseudo-metallic silicon-like nanite mesh. Overall resulting in a body far more durable than that of a human, but still relatively "alive" in touch and feel.

They are known as Starseekers, as they were born among the stars, they seek out life and attempt to study or meet life in a sort of Star Trek style.

Yo why did you not even bother shading the rest of the gals

The characters look flat af. It's like you tried to draw them by drawing only one big line. Your anatomy could have some help, especially the pink one. I feel like you tried to go for the loli look but it's fucking off.

I'm not exactly a total beginner but there's this problem that I didn't examine and now noticed I'm taking way too long to get over.

But it has to do with drawing forms as linework and creating depth. I can't do it. I'm not sure what it is but my drawings just don't feel... "set." Pic related is mine. It's not my best but the problem isn't any different. I look at this and get frustrated because I've drawn this same drawing many many many times. It's just a loose sketch with no oomph.

The answer is probably "just practice." I understand, anyhow. I just really wanted to vent.

Is it a bad habbit or a bad sign to like the stuff that "bad artist" do?
I follow people, that I know they make really ugly stuff, but some times just the ideas or just a little something in it make it a little interesting to me...

But I should avoid following bad artist?

How do they teach drawing in those russian fine art schools? Everytime I see an artist who's russian or chinese, he is pretty much trained the same way.

Pic rel is an example

FUNDAMENTALS
They both teach heavy construction, the Chinese do a ton of cast drawings while the russians probably do more life drawing early on.
The chinese drawing books are pretty much ripped off from loomis and bridgman, lots of anatomy etc.. you get the picture

I started doing concept sketches for a new witch-racing game, but I've been looking at these sketches for too long, I can't even tell anymore! Can you guys help me?

Actual torture.

I think both witch designs are cute but the pastel one in the OP image is way too desaturated and incohesive in color scheme. Her skin is desaturated enough that it blends into all the pastels, and there's non-pastels that clash in my opinion. Very cute bat familiar though.

hey gents and gentlina, I'm looking to do some master copies of some watercolors, so if you have some good examples or if you know some good artists can you post them here?

i'm looking for pieces where they use the watercolors artistically, not the type where they show off by doing super precise dry-brush type stuff, but if you have some of that post it too, no need to be picky.

thanks

So, about 2 years ago, I joined an online community filled with serious artists and it was great. I started drawing everyday and studying my fundamentals. I noticed lots of improvement at first and I figured st the rate I was going I would be pro level in 2 years. Anyway, fast forward 2 years later, I'm still mediocre and there is this growing pressure of "why am I not improving, why am I not drawing enough". Everyone else is making lots of progress while I remain stuck in mediocrity. Drawing doesn't feel fun anymore, it feels like a chore, "if I don't draw today, I won't improve and catch up" rather than "I want to draw today". As a result, I'm always procrastinating from making art. I dunno, I just felt the need to vent myself

to improve you gotta get out of comfort zone. or try drawing stuff that you think is fun rather than trying to improve for once make it fun again. its suppose to be fun.

feel better anon

Is pic related yours? I think it's good, why don't you start producing your own thing or working on a project that you always wanted to do? Also, take a break for a few days, it's okay.
