this is the kind of art I wanna lean towards from now on.
Hi /ic/. Sorry if it seems like a self promotion but this artist used to be one of my favorites on dA growing up. back in 2009 or so? (I'm in my early 20's now)
https://rileyav.deviantart.com/
I haven't seen her works in years, I come to these recently and I have noticed a great deal of improvement in her works. Over the years I've moved on regarding inspirations of course, but at times I like to look at my old ones back in the day. Her, and her friends, Dreachu and Tinachan90, inspired me to create art.
What do you think? Post your inspos, I will dump some of her works.

Her more recent pieces and its art style remind me of kids shows.

I wish I could use more than one image to post at a time

The Envoy Accord is a Political Fantasy epic, and is my work in progress. It is a story of loss, betrayal, redemption, and forgiveness set in a developed world just on the verge of a technological revolution.
Does someone wanna read it?

funny
It was really underwhelming considering all the fuss I saw about it in social media. I didn't even manage to get any cool pictures.
What's your opinion on FZ? Is it worth going through his videos?
the tl;dr I've derived from countless threads and anon grill who went to FZD is that the resources and techniques taught, while ample and good, are nothing unique and the value of attending the school itself is primarily in the opportunity to step into a system that demands unhealthy numbers of hours of practice in exchange for relatively rapid results, if you can take doing nothing but study for months at a time, likely perpetually missing sleep and sustaining a hand injury or two from overworking
if you're morbidly lazy, weak-willed or tend to resent authority, it's not for you or 99% of /co/ (including me)
but as for the videos themselves, from the few I've seen he likes to beat around the bush and only reference these terrific secrets to success his students receive in order to shill his school
you're better off watching someone who will actually tell you exactly what you can work at to improve
Just put his stuff on while you draw instead of music.
>just feel the form man
>just draw the rest of the fucking owl man
is feeling the form a meme? it sounds like one of those esoteric bullshit phrases that sounds mystique enough to get away with it, like when girls say they want to go "find themselves"
form is essential OP, perspective too. However it is not necessary to be so explicit about them, you can be at first but after a while (like 4 years for me) you will get a solid sense of both
>>3104786
Think of the pencil as a tiny pointed pick and the paper as a flat rock that you are carving a relief into. Wheb you stroke your line along the contour of forms within the outline it is as if you can "feel the form." Ya cynical, trashy nit-wit.
>>3104786
Unless you're the god of feeling it like Vilppu then yes, it's a meme.
Drawing is fucking hard, nobody creates great works just by "feeling it". You create a great work by constructing it using your skills that you develop over years of practice.
What kind of pieces should a strong portfolio contain?
>>3108222
Your strongest work - and reflects the kind of work being done by the person you want to get hired by. You should show skills in composition, color, rendering, and most importantly, creativity. (In other words, no fan art.) If you're applying as a concept artist, your vast collection of lollie images are pretty much inappropriate.
Have between 10-12 pieces, no more. Nobody has time to wade through everything you've done for the last couple of years. If you have anything published, that automatically goes in. Unpublished student work is fine, but show that you've been hired, if you have been.
If you're applying for school, just pick 10 of your strongest works, showing how much experimenting and effort you've done. Don't give them "loomis grinding", show attempts at finished pieces. Show them where you are as an aspiring artist, don't try to fool them that you're better than you are.
So is Jazza,dare I say, /ourguy/?
>>3107963
No, get back to work.
How much do I need to practice to paint like pic related?
>>3107941
2-3 hours a day for 8 months
>>3107941
17 hours for 10 years
25 hours a night for 53 years
that what you're doing is pointless and you're just a man child?
I'm near three decades of life and sometimes, when I post art, I get this feeling people at my facebook must thinks I'm stupid to be drawing any kind of fanart at this age, when a good chunk of people my age are already with child and with no time to waste on a "childish" hobby like that. Or probably think I'm a virgin when I post pinup art, etc.
I mean, if its not a profession for you, it really is kinda lame to be drawing pop culture stuff or in an style that resembles anime. It's almost the same as posting about cartoons and stuff when you're past 20's.
I got this feeling because recently, on an family reunion, my dad said to my grandma that I was drawing Japanese porn cartoon, because I've had recently posted a pinup I did. (I don't draw in anime style, but for normies if it's not realistic or cartoon network stuff = anime)
My art would probably be more respected if the subject wasn't fantasy or pop culture stuff? Do you guys ask yourselves the same question? I wonder how those 20's + neckbeards who draws porn deals with themselves. hehe
I dunno, maybe I should be pursuing more concrete stuff for my life, like buying an apartment, create real bond with a women, etc.
Honestly, you care too much
>>3107674
I know. I have friends who are more "nerdy" and posts anime/cartoon/pop culture stuff without hassle, but they're not the best examples of what you would call a responsible adult.
>>3107671
your art isn't respected because it's shit, has nothing to do with what style you draw in.
>I dunno, maybe I should be pursuing more concrete stuff for my life, like buying an apartment, create real bond with a women, etc.
Yeah, but we both know at the end of the day you won't do any of those things and you'll just play video games or shitpost on 4chan. I mean, it's not ilke you're drawing 24h and that's what's stopping you from doing those things. Chances are, drawing takes up a fraction of your free time.
Developing visual library.
Are you developing your visual library?
Do you follow FZD guide?
I tried to read more, but I cannot read books without getting bored. The only book I can read is Dune series.
Its just too boring.
I lately been studying history and reading history books and it a lot easier. For example, how medieval armour and battles really worked is interesting.
I cannot afford to travel so cannot visit interesting places.
Notice it a problem as been developing fundmantals by doing drawabox and Peter Han stuff, but when I go to draw I do not know what to draw.
