/ic/ is trash and all you'll really get is vague condescending statements like this >>3108320
for the most part. However here are some pointers.
>Please don't make your own thread, post in the draw thread, alt-style thread or the beginner thread. People get really pissy if you make your own and your chances of getting a good crit will be even lower than they already are
As for actual crit here is what stands out to me
>your lines are too shaky and inconsistent which brings your whole drawing down
work on your line confidence by doing basic warm ups every time you draw
>your hands lack the rigidity and structure they need
The fingers look too noodly, try to use a reference for hands. It's quite easy since you can just pose your own hands however you want.
>the arms and legs also lack structure
Obviously your drawing is stylized however it still needs to give the illusion of 3 dimensionality and human anatomy. Learning and practicing real anatomy will help you improve a lot more, think of it as a long term goal. For the short term you could try to focus on the rule of "straights vs curves." When stylizing you should aim to balance your straight lines and curved lines. So for example, the lower part of her left arm just curves in on both sides, if you just curved the top and made the bottom of the arm a strong straight line then the arm would look better.
>line weight is used incorrectly
Line weight can be used to help indicate lighting without the use of color or values. So if you were using it here the side in shadow should have thicker lines than the one in light. It looks like you did the opposite on her butt since it has a thick line where it's being hit by the light and a thinner line when it's in shadow.
>pose is unclear
What exactly is she doing? Looks like she's holding a stack of bills and teasing the viewer? It should be apparent to the viewer at a glance. A strong silhouette would help.

Out of space. Hopefully that was at least somewhat helpful.

I just want to get "good" so the characters I like wont end up forgotten.

But thanks to the horrible dead end wageslaving hours and my horrible uber-normie family that wont be happening, I dont even have talent I have no idea what I am doing.

Iktf

It's sad when there's almost no fanart of your favorite characters or designs.
>>
>>3108012

Nigga chill. Talent doesn't exist, it's about work, lots and lots, and years and years of work. Not just in drawing, but in story telling and writing. So if you're really that passionate, Find a way.

I'm trying to find a friendly artist who can draw like this.

http://i.imgur.com/YcR8Ym9.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/rZ7X7Na.jpg

The reason why is because I want an epic horror image of my character to look like that.

http://i.imgur.com/p7NIQYX.png (cropped some nsfw out btw) My character. I want it from head shot to chest.

you guys may provide an example or sketch some but whenever I have money I'll see which one stands out the best.

Why don't you just commission that artist? Both of your examples are by them.

I was legit recommended to not get it from her from a well experienced and trusted person so I posted here instead.

This looks like the abomination offspring of typical tumblr angst edge stylings crossed with typical furry stylings. Just look for other artists who're banging out both of these meme styles. It shouldn't be too hard, they're probably the two most popular stylings outside of (((realistic))) animu.

Holy shit this is exactly what I was thinking as I was waiting on this to load. Great minds senpai.

There's something that bothers me.

It seems more old masters works from imagination actually had dozens of studies, some from real life, others simply getting right one part of the fundies (perspective, anatomy, proportions).

Also, it seems old masters took their time, they didn't finish a painting in one day, some of such works took months, even years.

It seems logical they approached every work like an engineering problem, that's where the studies come into practice.

Seems plausible that if you took the time to do the following studies:
>perspective boxes
>perspective lighting
>ambient oclussion
>values
>planes
>composition
>limitted pallethe
>anatomy
>hair studies (reference)
>cloth studies (reference of drappery)
>Line of motion
>Focal point
>perspective of air
>layers of depth
>DOF
>narrative of the picture

So, it seems that a single painting is actually an engineering problem and there's very few of artistic or creativity, to make it.

It seems professionals or older masters made their own original reference when they were doing a piece from imagination, solving every problem in a single step.

You're almost right. It is a lot of engineering problems aka skill. That's 90% of the work, the rest is the creativity part which also happens to be guess what? The most important part to the result. If they tried the same shit with no technical skill it wouldn't have flown.

I used to like my drawings. They were cool and i shared them and everything was great and i got motivated to do more.

But now every drawing i make, they suck, i hate them, i get frustrated and erase them or throw them away and go do something completely different that has nothing to do with drawing.

Im really worried if i will ever get over this stage, i dont know whats wrong, i try to study a bit every day and redraw drawings that i like to learn new things.

But whenever i try to draw from imagination and create my own stuff, i get really frustrated quickly because they turn out shitty, they just look like ive never drawn before. Its like my skills have all disappeared. I used to know what to do, now i really dont. It feels like im walking in blindly.

Ive been drawing and a bit painting for 2-3 years, i went to art school for half a year, and after that, i stopped drawing for 2 years, i think i got depressed aswell, i just stopped drawing things, i dont know if it is because i stopped going to art school.

Anyway how do i get my skills back? it seems like ive lost everything

I get frustrated really quickly whewn i draw something now.

its just a representation of my frustration when i start a drawing

i got good news tho, i got started making some drawings, someone told me to just start and go for it and dont expect anything so i did and things actually turned out pretty good.

i can feel the fire, the urge, to create more now and its great, so just having a small break and ill be going hard at it again.

sorry for such a lousy whiny thread tho.. i hope someone else can benefit from my advice

just draw, dont expect good results cause its been awhile, the more drawings you make the more you will see your skills and technique coming back

baaaad proportions. and super bad measuring. Look at the references carefully and measure out the distance between the breasts and the navel, from the navel to the crouch etc. You're spacing them to short in all of these.

and if you're going to study Proko, go through everything one at a time. I'm more than positive you did not do the whole figure drawing and anatomy course when you jump skipped into drawing that arm. You're not going to learn properly that way.

has anyone ever thought about becoming a youtube artist as a.. profession? I mean, people can and do make a living out of it. I have seen youtubes of artists who only have digital speedpaints with background music and have 200k+ views on each, as well as artists who put themselves more out there, do reviews, talk about art shit, etc. Surprisingly or unsurprisingly, most of them are pure shit at drawing. Draw with Jazza is an eyesore, Baylee Jae draws like a 10 year old, and sycra... so it's not like the bar is set too high.

I hate to break it to you, but 200k subs is not going to be enough to make Youtube a fulltime job. You can make a little extra money on the side, but it will not be your job.
>>
>>3109423
The thing about them though is that it takes a good 3 or 5 years for your channel to build up, and that's only if you're doing all those gay chalenges or drawing popular things. Bonus points if you're a artsy girl. But even if your channel has blown up do you really want to be doing that kind of shit for a living. And there's always the risk that your fanbase just moves on to the next channel or youtube fucks your revenue up, then what are you going to do. Maybe if you're good enough you could offer other services like mentoring or gumroad type shit.

I think about making videos all the time because I'd probably enjoy it. But I don't think I'll ever make much, if any, money on it.
