Posting in case anyone else missed it.
He talks about practice, sketching in pen, shit like that. Also does a live drawing at the end.

It's worthless, he does a demo of a subject he sucks at. Everyone has already seen it on ic and if not, they can easily google ruan jia sketchbook. Literally first result. Delete this thread.

>"Everything is so bad"
Ruan Jia please

I'm impressed by his linework really, it captures all those subtle bumps. His hand is super steady and his eyes must be amazing for detail. That pencil work done on that page is just wow, didn't realize that could be possible with just a small sketch.

Didn't know Ruan Jia could speak English, so that was interesting to see.

I haven't seen it faggot and I didn't even know he did these.

If I pledge the 5 bucks a month, do I get access to ALL videos that have ever been made by them or just going forward? Im mostly interested in their early traditional stuff, something to supplement draw a box and dynamic sketching.

It depends, sometimes they let you have them all, sometimes it's only going forward.

Just looking at this image, I would assume they want that 5$/month minimum to serve as a kind of subscription. Subscribers would then get 1 "free" lesson/month, and 30% off previous lessons. They even give you the link to the previous lessons mentioned: https://gumroad.com/foundation_patreon#

I think it's pretty heavily implied you do NOT get access to all previous lessons, that you'd get them for 7$ each instead of 10$ each.

how do I go about making comics /ic/? I want to study on manga and french comic style. (No Marvel/DC please)

Can you please suggest some artbooks about making comics? And what are some of your favourite comic/manga artists?

Buy comics, physical comics. Tab them and use them as refs. Direct source is best, no book can tell you what you need. This is why you have to become an assistant to learn anything.

Some of my favourite comic book artists are Mobius, Brandon Graham, Juanjo Guarnido, Fiona Staples and Jm Ken Nimura

I can't help you much with artbooks though.

As this anon stated probably not, he seems to understand letter structure and the basics of letters in Graff, but just like 75% of writers he probably only knows how to do straight letters like this and nothing more like let's say SABER or BACON or someone like that

Hello, guys

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but anyway.

I've recently started using Krita instead of SAI Paint Tool and I really cannot find anything similar to "Edge Hardness" parameter in brush setting.

Is there such an option at all?

Can we have a discussion about the various (primarily non-free) art instruction material online?

tl;dr: post your experience with whatever sources you're familiar with and recommend good resources

I had a New Masters Academy membership and it was great, great instruction, great reference and 3d model resources.
The only thing is that it is expensive as fuck considering how slowly they add new lectures.
Once you go through the things that are relevant to you, you're basically wasting $50 a month.

Drawing Force is cheap and good at what it does, but it is limited and only useful alongside more robust instruction.
It is also not for everyone.

I'm looking at pic related and it feels kinda lackluster, not sure if I want to sign up.
Is anyone here a member?
What's it like?

Schoolism is good and worth the money. Personally I like NMA more but if you've already gone through all of it then may as well do schoolism.
Premium anatomy course from Proko is really excellent as well.
>>
>>2845778
I've heard many schoolism packages are good (especially painting/color based ones) but I went through Jason Seiler's portraiture course and it was pretty useless imo. It's basically 6 videos (with 10-15 sections each) of him telling you to take your time. But then again, I don't know what else I expected.

Any simple enough tips that made you "get it"? Recently I had to draw using pens because I got out of pencils, and when I got back to them my line control got way better. Kinda like when an anime character goes through a training arc and can now read the enemy movements or when goku went through the heightened gravity workout I suppose.

Another one was drawing hands by focusing on thumb placement, now I can almost project an image on the paper while before I felt lost. Small but significative jumps in skill like that are serious bumps to confidence and make it feel less like a torture, so anything in this line would be nice.

Doing value studies typically helped me understand bodies. It just became obvious once I realize why this value was dark or light in comparison to another.
