Can anyone give me artist autobiographies?
So far I have van goghs, Eugene Delacroix's, Renoirs (written by his son) and edvard munch.

I like Rockwell's autobiography.
I've never read it, but Benvenuto Cellini wrote an autobiography and lived an insane life, like he literally murdered a couple people.
There was a manga about the manga artist learning to draw well.
whats the story behind this picture? why is it so popular?
post your work first and someone will tell you

Dumb frogposter kill yourself
Have any artists here suddenly lost their ability to draw? I've been drawing every day for a bit over a year now but since last week I've regressed back to how bad I was in the first couple of months. Pic related, its a drawing from a week ago, and ill post an abomination from today as well
and heres one from today.
>>2852069
Looks fine to me anon, I think you went blind or something is wrong with your brain.

You're probably just losing confidence
Do I need loomis? Give it to me straight.
You need to chill.
You've been getting butthurt and samefagging a lot about the other guy's thread.
Seriously, how old are you? This isn't the attitude of anyone past 18, hell I don't believe I knew even anyone at 16 so childish.
>>2849678
fuck off i think this is great. if the other thread is ok so is this one faggot.

Fuck off Mike, this isn't your blog
>watch andunny jodes dudorials on gubrode
>realize that he actually knows his stuff, but can't talk about it b/c second nature.
>does what he can, references what he can't
>realize 99% of digital artists are the same way
How much does theory matter? The internet doesn't seem to be going away
why not just grind technique and copy every photo, artwork, and reference? technique, You can just google everything and have fresh references and visual data to ogle forever.
why even live.
>>2852142
You can do that but then you'll eventually get called out for being a hack who can't draw anything that's not completely from reference
>>2852142
because drawing from imagination is fun too, and doing one helps do the other, so there's no reason to only do 100% references all the time.
>>2852158
>You can do that but then you'll eventually get called out
But why does that matter? isn't the final result the most important thing?
Suppose i do some cool imaginative artwork and i used a fuckton of references, why would how i did it even matter?
Is it not the quality of the artwork that determines the skill of the artist?
Is it legal to sell porn fan art of celebrities ?
Emma Waston as Hermione Granger fan art for instance.

PLЭБ
How can I stay awake after 11pm to pull in 6 hours of arting on the weekday without having to drink caffeine ? I work fulltime and when I drink caffeine I risk the chance of meeting shadow people from the shadow realm and it messes up mind during the day. I know cold showers might work but it's winter.
>>2852975
Doesn't run on sheer willpower
Your day is divided into three portions, as an adult.
>Shift
>Sleep
>Free time
In order of descending importance. If you're working 80-hours a week, art's not going to be something you can pursue. If you're not, cut down on literally anything else from your free time, because you're not going to get rid of the need to sleep no matter how hard you fight it.
>>2852975
Go to sleep as soon as you're done with work, wake up, grind art, go to work already tired, repeat.
Is it actually possible for someone to construct something this anatomically/perspective-correct without reference? Either way, how can I get these results with reference?
I looked into a step-by-step video from a pin-up artist but she seems to construct her figures out of thin air. The footage shows the photoshop window view only (can't see if reference was used). No construction lines of any kind, no lines had been erased yet in pic related. So something must be happening off-screen which the artist is too ashamed to mention.
Possible references used:
- Frame from a video of a woman
- Reference photograph of a woman.
- Real-world figure: posing it, photographing it.
This artist is likely pushing proportions selectively so the form appears more dynamic: it would look much stiffer than pic related if the reference was directly copied. I always thought using a frame from a video and pushing the proportions seemed dirty" or "cheating", but if this person got these results with it then I'll will make some drawings like this.
>>2852895
Uploaded the wrong picture on accident, pic related is their constructed figure. OP image is finished render.
Yeah just imagine boxes like Kim junggi.
>>2852895
It's absolutely not necessary to use reference for a fairly simple figure like this. If you are experienced you don't need construction either. It's possible the artist has drawn this type of pose a thousand times before and knows it by heart.
I construct dynamic or weird poses without reference many times and generally start with a rough outline, after which I make a skeleton to assure the anatomy is correct.
Reference is for details, not poses unless you are a complete noob with the human figure
