Why is /ic/ so quick to hate on "cheats" and to call professionals hacks. If cheating makes it so easy why doesn't everyone have a job? I can see why you wouldn't want to encourage a beginner to use extra tools until they understand what their doing, but why wouldn't a pro photobash as much as they feel? Especially in a production environment where you have to do things fast.
Because everyone follows the path of a concept artist or illustrator.
For every other branch of art you need way higher writing skills. It's really difficult to admit it. It was for me. Raw drawing skill doesn't entitles one to a career or money. The only thing that matters is the value you're putting out there.
Many artists are in denial of this. I was. It's called Loss aversion. Has an example, people who spend countless months conquering perspective only to find out that the majority of the industry uses 3D to start a painting. Same with Photobashing or Designdoll, it's a new standard, not a choice.
But it's not easy to admit that the thing you spend months conquering a skill that people don't care about.
So it's easier to call 3D or Photobashing "hacks", "cheating", "nasty art", than to branch out of your comfort zone and adopt them.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply
So is it possible to draw the line anywhere? Should beginners just be focusing on just raw design and neglecting anything that can be done with computers?
Right now I have a bit of a theory that it's hard to practice and improve design without drawing ability, but what about concept jobs where you aren't necessarily designing anything new? It seems like the only things you'd need to be proficient at then would be composition and colour.
My younger sibling caught me doing my LAS submission and revealed she really likes drawing too, but is frustrated about her being so novice at it. She, coincidentally, feels too old to get good like I do, despite only being 13!
I told her what someone should've told me at least; that is, you're NEVER too old, especially not at 13, and to power through any delusion you are, but I don't know where to point her for technical assistance since I'm a novice myself.
I didn't want to tell her to come to 4chan and read the sticky because she has a promising normie life ahead of her and doesn't need this containment site like I do. Any tips?
>>2862886
Send her here and let her know the truth before it's too late.
>>2862889
I would never ever recommend /ic/.
>>2862892
Okay then, perhaps ask her why she wants to draw. When I was 12, I already knew, so she should too. Then tell her to draw that a lot.
Stop shitposting. Go draw.

I give you my knowledge, you give me your mum

Hows this simpsonization of Koly P?
I need tips on how to be pro at simpson styling people.

you suck
i understand it's the new year but why is there an influx of beginners making their own threads
>>2855266
>1714x2261
for what purpose
ITT: We post things that trigger /ic/.
Last Thread: >>2846221
Why stop when there's so much fresh discourse to be had?
>>2855099
What's triggering about this? The fact that there's a fat girl? Do fat girls not exist to /ic/?

Cyarine, in general, has a bad rep on this board (and possibly other communities), largely for her attitude. Pretty sure OP's pic focuses on her caption though, not the actual art.
Personally, I don't mind people blogging on their art posts. As long as the art is good or an attempt to improve, whine all you want.
>make thread
>it's for drawing the figure in a ref from different angles
advanced
and that should do it
Has anyone ever tried their lessons? Are they worth subscribing to?
Bump?
>>2862323
I stopped taking them seriously after I saw the work of one of their instructors.
So I want to make a male version of this, but sadly, i am horrible at drawing. Anyone on here who could help me out/draw it for me?
>I'm horrible at drawing
You sound like a fucking normie. At least try, post your results in the /beg/ thread, then receive criticism. Once you've had that, you can work on improving. This is how drawing works you absolute plebeian.
>>2860888
nobody draws here lel.
>>2860888
What's OP need it for? Desktop background? Tattoo? Are you looking for basic ink on paper or something fancier?
Also what is OP visualizing as a "male" version? Just shortening the hair would be the easiest way to do.

Fucking cute. How long did it take to make that? What did you use?
>animating on 1s
Nigga...what IS you?

Thanks! Half a week with Toon Boom.
has anyone here just straight up tried learning on their own without all this bullshit we tell ourselves? Like just sit down and draw until things start to look right without watching tutorials / reading anything?
There had to be people who found their own way back when this shit wasn't readily available
right? Because I have no idea who to believe. All I see when I come to /ic/ is people worshiping the same 3 zipperheads and I'm not interested in becoming what they are.
>>2855105
I do, but it's also much faster to steal other people's processes, so I do that too. But don't listen to /ic/'s bullshit about hours put in, construction shit, and other loads of bullshit.
>>2855105
Do you just sit down and learn calc without books? Art isnt nearly as complex and most of it is milage, but without pre written knowledge youre just wasting your time figuring out something some one else already written down.
>>2855105
Fuck you.
Hey im streaming on twitch
bricom40 is my username.
come watch me paint a still life.
also ill post the podcast in this thread tomorrow so its not just this post.
>>2860640
bey brian I'm at work so I can't watch your stream right now. I'm the anon who was asking about mixing and consistency of the paint. my paint is always too thin and ends up looking like shit because the colors are "milky looking" I can post examples, but I don't want to stink up your thread. any tips?
>>2860640
Brian, doesn't your still life fall off without the bottom plane? Also all of the items are too detailed and don't feel as a whole, you should focus on one item. Also, what the deal with those shadows?
>>2860782
>focus on one item meme
Who taught this and why do new artists keep falling for it?
/watch?v=fxrW0oS5LmI
some pretty good artwork going on here
nevermind stream is ded
Are there any non-meme youtube channels for art?

I never heard it mentioned here, but I love The Art of Aaron Blaise
heavily recommend Istebrak
Who's your favorite catoonist, /ic/? Do you study their work?
I study all of the Usual Gang of Idiots. Fantastic artists.
Jack Dsvis was pretty great, shame he passed away last year.

>trying to git gud at drawing
>want to draw in 3 point perspective, want to not get into tumblr tier stylization shit and just get into hardcore tech
>all references and things you see are in different styles of perspective

So then get objective foundations

You're thinking too much of it.
Just start simple.
