Made this a few days ago. Any advice on how to improve?
this seems like the sort of thing that would look pretty appealing as a paper cut out
If you could tell beginner artists one thing what would it be? Mine would be, THE BLUR TOOL IS NOT YOUR FRIEND.

Hi /ic/ I'm new here so please forgive me if my etiquette is poor.
So I'm looking over the tutorials and starting to teach myself to draw, but almost all of them are geared towards drawing people or characters of some sort.
I'm not really interested in drawing people at all. I actually want to learn to paint landscapes, and was planning on using drawing as a bridge to learn form and shade.
Should I still do the beginner tutorials designed to teach me how to draw people? I mean I'm sure the tutorials are useful in general for technique but I can't imagine I can go much further down that road if I'm not interested in people.
Thanks for your help.

Hello, environment artists and environment art in general has always been less appreciated than character work. You don't need to draw people, there are many artists and fields that never come close to dealing with anything resembling traditional figure drawing.
>>2872216
Oh I'm not concerned with whether people look down on my work or not. My point is that all the tutorials in the sticky are geared towards drawing figures. I feel like using these tutorials is trying to funnel me down a path that I want to resist. Should I try to find other tutorials that focus on the things I want to learn to draw? Or are the concepts so universal that it doesn't matter what I'm drawing?

>the remember when I first found this and never knew how complex perspective could be
Why isn't there a book that explains perspective like this? Even Scott's doesn't nor does Erik as far as I'm aware.
>>2872063
The guy who runs that website dabbles on all sorts of stuff. He also has an insanely comprehensive course on watercolor research he has done.
His perspective stuff is also really intelligent and explained differently from many books and video tutos I've seen.

Thanks Anon, very interesting stuff
It's been a very long time since the last one : let's change that!
Post your best statue pics...

What does /ic/ think of the 'cross' I keep over my door. I drew it while on an LSD trip.
I don't remember why I even made this but I have kept it up ever since.
You are fucking stupid kid

Which intuos lineup? The old ones or the new 2017 ones? Also would it be better to just save for a cintiq13h I want to use this for a long time
Will this be your first tablet?
Cintiqs are very expensive but they're worth it, and just like with any other Wacom product they'll last forever. But if you're new I wouldn't recommend spending that much on something you there's a chance you won't use in two month's time.
>>2871252
Not him but is there a huge difference between a wacom bamboo and a cintiq? The price difference is a lot so I always wonder if it's that notable. (And can I draw better with a cintiq?)
>>2871259
...a cintiq has a screen?
Other than things you can google by yourself I blieve Cintiqs come in bigger sizes (but cost way, way more) and it takes less time to get used to drawing on a cintiq.
second hand tablet for ultra-broke freeter.
good idea or bad?
>>2872020
not a fan of the posterized finish, but the rest of the picture looks great. this must be 3d right?
also, i've used a second hand intuos3 for like 5 years. those things are made to last, and a new one is beyond the realms of possibility for a third worlder.
>>2872074
its not mine. i just used it for the OP
thanks for the input. i feel like many naive rich/spoiled people buy one then give up so there are probably some barely used ones and a large number of them too so at a low price. sounds like i will get one.
/ic/... I need your help. I'm trying to get better at digital art but i'm not sure where I should focus on to improve. So, what do you think and where can it improve?
obviously not done

i don't know if you're trolling but your anatomy is fucked six ways from Sunday, buddy
you need loomis hard
use the beginner thread instead of making your own
>See an artist that is better than me with a successful social life
>Can't help be feel angry
I've ramped it up to 10 hours a day.
I'll show these fucking normies who the boss is.
No, you'll not.
You should ramp up your social life instead
>>2869910
Won't make it.
So I decided to skip fundamentals and jump straight to drawing 2D. Rate please, nothing too harsh.
Are these threads reportable yet?
>>2871760
I wish. Until then, might as well shitpost like the rest of us.
Here's a doodle I did in algebra today.
I really admire the orientals and their comic books. Here is a study I did based of one of their silly books.

What can I do to keep the barrel of my pencil from hurting my fingers very badly after some hours of drawing? My picture does not show the color of my hand well but there some days I sincerely worry it will start to bleed.
I bought pencil grips from Blick which I did not find very comfortable. I see some pencil artists who just use wadded masking tape rolled around their pencil but I dislike this since I don't want my pencils to get sticky. I also tend to move my pencil up and down in my hand so I very dislike moving the grip a lot (sometimes use long side of lead, sometimes use point).
Grips from Blick were these: http://www.dickblick.com/products/pencil-grips/?clickTracking=true&wmcp=pla&wmcid=items&wmckw=22954-1012&gclid=CJrmqOWNpdICFZKGfgodvYEG8Q

By not drawing, it's inevitable, every artist has it and they don't go away. Good luck and have fun.
>>2871786
I do not understand why, but my picture was flipped horizontally when 4chan accepted my upload. I am left handed.
Stop holding it like a retard.
I figured I might as well get comfortable with 3d software since I want to be a designer, but I don't know which is "good" or common in the industry.
Which is a good software for setting up compositions and stuff?
>>2869147
Depends on what kind of "designer" you want to be.
it'll take you years to git gud at real 3d, take it from me.
>>2869147
as somone who struggled to try and learn blender and failed 3 times, my friend suggested 3ds max and i was able to learn it in about a week with this tutorial series
https://vimeo.com/3dtotal/videos/search:beginner's%20guide%20to%203ds%20max/sort:alphabetical/format:thumbnail
note i only learned the program, i didn't miraculously know how to make good models, make good textures or rig properly, that comes with a lot of practice (and probably some more indepth & specific tutorials) and it will probably take years as >>2869182 pointed out
thinking and modeling in literal 3d does actually really help with drawing and understanding form tho (just as how being decent at drawing and having an okay understanding of anatomy has made 3d modeling humanoid things easier for me)
as far as standards go, my friend who works in industry and helped me kinda figure things out told me that most modeling-- especially for games-- is done in 3ds max and maya is the main one for animation and that most people in industry focus on those 2 as well as zbrush if you're more specifically a modeler instead of an animator
