Does anyone else have manic/depressive art "phases"? I sometimes have months of amazing art progress and then I always seem to burnout and waste around playing video games all day. This goes on for months until the manic phase begins.
What gives? Is burnout even real or am I just lazy?
>>2890337
I don't have manic episodes, but I do have my depression sometimes get worse for a few months and it kills all my productivity. It's tough to paint and be creative when you just lie in bed wanting to die.

Every single week.
I go through massive depression and self loathing over the weekend and then I get a glimpse of energy at some random time.
I hear working out and eating right helps, so heres to that.
see a therapist
happens for me too
Okay, not really but the technique is interesting if you take into account what it can turn into in a few years. Basically it's software that takes a 3d model and breaks it down into simple geometric shapes and generates a automatic "tutorial" on how to draw any given object. Maybe it's not super useful in it's current state but I do believe that this could be a helpful tool if developed further.

>implying boxes actually work
>>2890119
You still are relying on existing work, that is not how you learn to design. It's like those people who photo realistically copy photographs, it's pointless.

pretty cool
¿Whats the deal with this guy? ¿Is really the worst of the very cringe shit in DA, or are others with less skills than him? Discuss
I've seen worst. Tjat page is full of crap nowadays.
Yooooo i've seen this post before.
What's YOUR deal with that guy????
Clearly not the best, but not tje worst neither. It's kinda cool someway.
Why aren't you using BOXES LMAO yet, so you can be just like Kim Jung Gi?

Draw gondolas
I'd love to get good at drawing fighter jets like pic related. What sort of fundamentals do you think are most important for doing them well? What types of jets would be good to start with?
>>2890938
Scott Robertson, Basics of Drawing and then How to Draw Aircraft by the same dudeo. Early WW2/Vietnam jets are probably the best, since they are the simpliest looking ones in terms of form and functionality. Mig 17's for example, are literally rockets with a seat strapped on.

here's some serious line art i've been working on for few days now
This is a good meme.
How much do you study things on an analytical level?
it seems that when i see eastern artists practice, they come up with a solution to every forseeable problem.
Pages and pages of design problems and solutions, ways to tackle things, alternative approaches, etc.
it seems like western artists only copy photos.
Even when i look at Da Vinci's notebooks he talks extensively about every aspect involved in making art.
Drawing is all about studying things on an analytical level. Every single artists has to come up with a solution to every foreseeable problem, because the answers can not be given through speech or any other way. This is why they always tell you to just keep drawing, it's the best way to get better at this. Da Vinci is probably one of the most known figures for doing studies, but really every artists do them. People assume it's talent and they just magically knew how to do it when really they spent countless hours trying to understand the world just like Da Vinci did.
>>2890282
Any good artist thinks of these things but most don't bother to write it all out or colour code it and make it pretty. They just take mental notes and observations while drawing things.
Even when i see KJG tackle problems it seems like he's done several phonebooks of these analytical studies.
I am done with oil painting

Hi there, I am looking for refferences of the pose you see in the Acatar. sadly I can not come up with the proper wording for google to help me out.
know what words would be fruitful or can you upload pictures of that pose you have?
:/
As a last resort... you have a mirror in your house, don't you?
>>2889443
Captain Morgan pose, Google it. Plenty of different people doing a similar pose to imitate the rum logo.
hey /ic/ i'm sitting on 1k€ excess funds this month and i'm looking to shop for a new monitor. currently i'm using the dell S2715H which has meh colors, awesome sharpness, but garbage greyscale value and incredibly superbad colors. ontop of that it's basically a mirror meaning your eyes tire fast as fuck, and you have to work in absolute darkness which destroys your eyesight overtime (seriously).
so i want to replace the fucking piece of shit. but with what? the dell U2715H perhaps? it's supposedly antiglare but i'm reading mixed reviews regarding color accuracy.
what does /ic/ use?
Ultrasharps are decent monitors. Color accuracy isn't the best straight out the box but they're comparable to the alternatives from other manufacturers and they calibrate well. I don't think they're worth the usual $450 asking price, for slightly more money you could go 4k with a BL2711U.
>>2888863
Where is pic related from??
>>2888904
so after calibration they do have accurate colors? how accurate are the values? i'm asking because my current monitor has a clear drop within a specific range of values where they all merge into one and telling apart nuances becomes impossible. it's super frustrating. the BenQ looks awesome, will def look into that one.
>>2888962
no idea, try reverse google image search.
the paint over i did still looks cartoony when i tried to make it realistic, whats the difference between realism and cartoony besides the over saturation and crazy shape design.....is it shading? or occlusion shadows ?
Good question.
>>2888785
just noticed tarzan's dad is just an identical copy-paste of his face but with short hair and a beard. those lazy disney cunts.
>but it still looks cartoony
add some tear ducts maybe. and that nose is all wrong.
>>2888785
your paintover looks like this gentleman
Is there a correlation between art skill and attractiveness? I've recently noticed that every notable artist that I'm a fan of is at least average looking. I don't think I've ever seen someone at a professional level who is ugly. Am I at a disadvantage cause I look like a goblin? Is it possible to still make it even if you're ugly af? Will people even hire you when they can hire more attractive people who aren't a chore to look at?
>>2887257
There's plenty of ugly ass artists, they just don't plaster selfies online so you never notice
>>2887257
>I don't think I've ever seen someone at a professional level who is ugly.
because they don't post their ugly faces.
>>2887261
this
ugly people are not oblivious to their looks, they are not going to post their face if they can help it
the only correlation you will find s that attractive people are more likely to post their face
Do you have an online avatar (for your art blog)?
Is it cute, is it cool, or is it autistic?
How do one go about at creating one.
main objective of getting an online avatar is picking up something you wont regret/want to change in the future.

/thread
what the fuck is an avatar, is it just a name or handle?
why wouldn't you just use your name. who the fuck cares nobody is going to like your art anyways. If you are stuck at the point of renaming yourself based on the things you like to draw, how the fuck are you supposed to draw anything from your empty imagination.
