Hey guys, if one of my illustrations went to an exhibition on an art gallery does that make me a illustrator? Or just a hack with good luck?
>>2890728
If you sold the idea and story of the illustration rather than displaying it with technique and form in mind, then the latter.
Fake it 'till you make it, OP.
The only thing that "makes you an illustrator" is you saying "I'm an illustrator" and somebody believing you. To by knowledge there isn't an illustrator's guild that jealously guards the title unless you're documented. It's not like claiming you're a doctor or a lawyer.

Holy shit that Frazetta one for some cologne called Sex Appeal had me in stitches
Meanwhile, in Japan.

Imo, it's firez
Depends what counts as /ic/.
/las/ has a fuck load of amazing artists like Mathias and Naf.
>Firez
Lolno.
For me it's vetyr. Just wish she would start branching into full illustrations now.
Firez definitely
It depends on the moment, and the size of the drawing.
>Not drawing with the pencil between your middle and fourth toe on your left foot
This is why /ic/ is such shit.
>>2892492
>He fell for the left foot meme
Daily reminder that if you can't do the middle toe/fourth toe grip with your right foot you're nit gonna make it
I've had this tablet for easily 6 years and I have never been able to use it the way I'd like to.
At first it was the drivers, I couldn't get the pressure sensitivity to work so I gave up on learning digital for a while.
Recently I came back to it, and while the pressure sensitivity works I don't see that I can adjust the aspect ratio. With such a tiny tablet is making it extremely hard to draw straight lines, much less work on a piece without zooming in to each individual thing. Is there some secret way to adjust it? Am I missing something?
All of the reviews I see for this tablet praise it so much for being cost effective and "just as good", but I can't see how anyone gets anything done.
Does anyone else own this and actually know their way around it? Do I just need a new tablet? Please save me from this tablet hell /ic/, I just want to draw on a computer.

yes

bump
>>2891266
You definitely have talent
>>2891266
not my taste, but quite good, never give up.
remember :
-edgy never was and never will be a trend.
-think readability
-compose and define more.
continue.
inb4: I already got this. It was my cousin's, but he used for about two months and then I took it. It has been one year and he never noticed
With that said, I've seen a lot of debating about how a tablet so cheap will alway make woobly and twirly lines.
Is that true? Should I start saving some money for another tablet?
https://www.amazon.com/Wacom-Bamboo-Connect-Tablet-CTL470/dp/B005HGBEYS
its too small, I had it and it was pain to work with
if you want a cheap and good tablet, go for this:
https://www.amazon.com/Huion-H610-Pro-Graphic-Carrying/dp/B00ZWRSQ4I/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1489039741&sr=1-1&keywords=huion+pro
Its REALLY cheap and thus far it's been working like a dream for me, much better than like 3 different wacoms I've used ( our school has intuos' and some other wacoms )
It comes with few extra tips, the glove and a carrying pouch, all you need is to install drivers and you're good to go.
It's good. At least use it to learn the flow of digital.
>>2890626
aha! I have this one, half of the drawing square stopped working once, I wish i had a better one but ehhhhh
/ic/, convince me his work was art and not bullshit.
You can attempt the same thing and it wouldn't as good because you aren't Pollock.
>Implying that throwing paint randomly takes talent and vision
>>2890633
why can't you convince yourself? why do you need others to tell what to like? Are you that lonely and inept?
Do you think /v/ will start learning to draw now, after seeing their favorite youtube hero talk to some of the best artists in japan (and possibly the world)?

Man I hate egoraptor's animations. It would be fine (and was in the newground days) for someone starting out with no drawing experience to produce work like that.
But dudes been at it for 10+ years now and he still hasn't learned how to draw.
Obviously he hasn't got the impetus to learn since he get's millions of views for his shitty flash animations.
I see so many people in the school I want to go to imitating egoraptor and whatever their favorite anime of the season is, making grotesque shitty blobs for characters.
>>2890924
>favorite anime of the season
I see more Adventure Time style than Anime style when it comes to my classes. Seems to be the meme.
>>2890931
Yeah I've see Adventure Time too, more Steven Universe now though.
Speaking of which, does /ic/ hate Steven Universe? Cause I fucking hate Steven Universe. Every character is ugly and """diverse"""
Hi, so I drew this little doodle and I think it looks pretty off.Though I have a lot of my own criticisms for it, I would like other people's opinions. Please be as harsh as possible, I desperatly want to improve.
>>2889778
You aren't supposed to post like this m8, this stuff goes in beginner threads
All fundamentals are lacking so read the sticky and get to work (and before you ask, yes you gotta learn the fundies even if you want to draw anime)
>>2889778
>>>/sticky/
or goto beginner threads and book threads to get some nice copies to help you out.

if you honestly want to improve. get off this forum and open your sketch book. draw every day. i'm lucky i never discovered this forum until i was older, lurking here is a way of life for me now- run away!!!
My university art teacher is Patrick J Jones, He wrote pic related. Anything you guys want to ask him?
How do I git gud?
>>2891750
Ask him about his inspirations and his favourite artist / illustrators.
>>2891750
I'll ask him a question in the form of a quote:
>"Why be a second-rate Frazetta when you be can be a first-rate you?”" --Frazetta
What drawing skills do I need to develop to get into animation?
Night scene
>>2888783
I love the sky, nice job!
Really nice.
>>2888783
check out Rene Magritte, OP
not the slickest painter but still good inspiration
Who /noimprovement/ here?
>>2885227
My improvement is really gradual these days, but that's more just because of how the learning curve is shaped. I passed beginner gains years ago, so my improvement is happening in years instead of weeks or months. It can be a bit frustrating, but it's just how it is I guess.
>>2885227
Yeah. Probably 'cause I haven't picked up a damn pencil for three months. Getting back into it tonight though, wish me luck lads.
How do I know if I'm improving?
Anyone know any good messenger bags that'll fit an A3 sketchbook + more?
Villa tends to make sturdy ones that hold up, I'm not sure if they're only avail in europe
I personnaly use few simple coton bags you can get at events and everything else.
Pict reletable.
