I am of the belief that there is a difference between being an artist and being an illustrator, or painter. While having technical skill is great, is it really art or is it a display of learnt technique?

I don't agree after studying it's origins and it's purpose. It is a racket designed to inccur profits for a few while exploiting guillable artists with a worthless philosophy. All you have to do is research and read.

I work small because fucking comics, I would copy them 1:1 scale as a kid. I tend to draw with my fingertips because of it.

Hi guys, I will probably get some hate for asking this here, but I've always been torn between working graphically and painterly.
As such I really love doing oil paintings, But I also really like screen printing, but it's hard for me to do both. I really want to focus on just 1 of the 2 so I can actually start getting a name for myself and become an expert rather then a generalist.
what do you guys think about screen printing?

Do both, don't be a bitch.
If you are an expert in drawing then painting, sculpting, screen printing, etc, are all just crafts with their own idiosyncrasies.
If you want a name for yourself make good work unlike anyone else's consistently.

Which painting Comp do you think is better/going in the right direction?
Row 1 is the same comp, in color on top and flipped and grayscale on the bottom, Row 2 is the second comp, color on top, grayscale and flipped on the bottom.

aren't kjg's techniques and studies of things basically the same as scott robertson's?
kjg's boxes are just an even more abbreviated form of perspective grids/planes, and his "autistic" memory for structure/function is just the same thing as the visual research that scotty talks about in his book.
kjg just freehands everything instead so while it doesn't look as mechanically tight, it's still cool in an "illustration" and not concept-art way

"Space" is a constant in what they're trying to depict, how different could their methods be?
Draw like a beginner thread.
Pretty much self explanatory. Try to draw as shit as you can. Its harder than you think.
