We are a team currently researching on the subject of memes as a form of art. What are your thoughts on the matter ?

It's been researched and written about before, look up "memes: a microcosm of art history" on youtube.

Nice!
Our team thought about doing an exhibit in a Gallery in Paris. This data will greatly improve our project.
Thank you!

>doing basic repetitive tasks is harder than creating something engaging and interesting enough while also advertising and networking to amass an audience willing to pay for said thing
I have worked some shitty menial job and I can attest that art is way harder.
>>

i got a question for /ic/
if it is true that such works that involve repetitive tasks are not as hard as living off your art then why dont use that as your primary source of income while you draw as a hobby then?

Someone can help me with a guide/tutorial for how to draw a person crying.

Use yourself as ref
>>
>>2910222
When drawing crying eyes, focus on making very subtle dots of white to imply moisture. Don't make the eyes gleam to much or they'll look like glass

Also add some slight pinkish red to the sclera (white part) of the eyes to make them appear red as the do whenever someone cries

Don't draw the streams of tears as blue but instead (depending on the skin tone) as darker shades of the skin tone (at least in black skin)

Don't forget to add subtle gleams to the streams.

When crying, the face must appear somewhat contorted. The mouth can be wide open with creases in the skin appearing between the mouth and eyes showing pulling of the skin (use reference for this if you're not sure).

What makes an expression more anguished is the lines from the skin creases. to make the eyes seem wider, show more of the sclera

Hope this helps.
>>
>>2910222
A good thing to remember is people in real life don't look pretty when they cry. Make yourself son and look in the mirror, notice how puffy everything is, how flushed you are, the tears and snot, you're probably sweating a little bit too. Remember that crying is ugly business and that'll help you render a more believable kind of crying

How the fuck do you draw the back? And I don't mean the muscles, I mean the form/shape.

And I mean this certain perspective that I just can't crack no matter how much I try. Do you guys have any tricks on how to master drawing the back from all perspectives? How exactly do you know where to place the shoulder blades in a 1/3 perspective? I'm mostly struggling with the shoulders and shoulder blades-neck connections! I'm trying my best! Thank you!

Box or blocky egg form for ribcage, have it leaning backwards (when seen from front). Box form for pelvis leaning forward. Connect the two with spine. Add shoulders. Build muscles on top of that framework.

You'll find many examples of this or things similar to it in many figure drawing resources. It's probably in Hampton, Kevin Chen sketches, Bridgman, Vilppu, Proko, etc.

Is it just me or has /ic/'s taste really gone down the shitter this last year or so?

Whenever you call out shit art for what it is you're guaranteed to have buncha UR JUST JELLY retards defending it. I don't remember this being such a frequent thing in the past.

well it's annoying because "it's just shit" gets thrown around a lot when it doesn't really apply or when there is some visible skill and often times it is by people that are just shitposting, so people say "post your work" to find out if you really are personally worthy of denegrating a piece of art work.
>>
Not really, you're probably just being a dickwad who loves the smell of his own farts too much. The only types of people on here who annoy me are the kinds who incessantly complain that nobody is accepting their shitty, obnoxious "criticism". Now fuck off please.

2013-2014 had an influx of tumblr people iirc, could be wrong

Plus I wouldnt be surprised if there were more underaged anons posting now than a few years ago, cuz population increase

ITT we post our art, get an anon to color it and then that anon will post his art to be colored by another anon.

make sure to export your drawing as a transparent PNG for ease of coloring.

Have fun!

I'll start.

Is drawing this angled anime face a crutch? Its 97% of these images
4 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>2910242
that angle is super easy. you dont have to put any effort into the nose, and its almost flat so you dont have to put any thought into perspective. it also means you dont need to put any work into shading the cheek bones, because the profile does all the work.

in short: a crutch if you suck and dont know how to work with other angles, but its not a bad angle to use. people use that angle for photography because it's attractive anyway.
>>
>>2910242
>Is drawing anime a crutch?
>>
>>2910242
They are usually so poorly drawn that you can't exactly determine the angle. That gives the illusion of variation as the viewers mind try to make sense of the image. That way you can have poor technique but still feel like a pro.

My first thought is to cut off the top bit so it's flatter and shorter, then put a pane of glass over it for a coffee table, but the more I look at the shape the less possible I think this is.

The one where you set deadlines and lose something important if you miss works pretty well. Like pay someone 100$ if you miss your deadline. Or sell your vidya.

I've noticed that a lot of the pros who used to work in games, films et al have decided to teach online instead.

So what's the deal? They can't find work?
20 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
The skilled always gravitate towards where the most money is at. Teaching art has become very lucrative while salary for games, animation and film has stayed roughly the same.
>>
>>2908951
I have yet to make it and I already feel the urge to teach

maybe that's what they wanted to do all along and working on games was only what they could do a the time
>>
>>2908951
I don't think that many have switched entirely to teaching. You're probably looking at guys who put out the occasional gumroad video to supplement their main job at a studio, or maybe some old industry veterans who feel it's their duty to pass along knowledge to the next generation by doing demos at events and things, but they too still are usually working normally.

I'm tired of artists on deviantart becoming popular and making money on patreon by just tracing studies. It's becoming more and more common nowadays... Here is one artist's sketch overplayed on the original image. Who would pay for this on patreon?

most people are happily ignorant about the process of creating art if they like the final product. if you're intelligent and see a market and don't feel bad about manipulating people that is the result. people want to see "super realistic anime girls" they don't care that it's a manipulated photo and just think wow amazing! I think this kind of thing has always been around in art, just look at drew struzans famous poster art, it's obvious that he traces photographs and paints over them but the final product is nice.
>>
>>2908605
Drew Struzan is actually good, though.

The reason he traces is because it expedites the process, not because he's cheating.

Hey, so I'm trying to learn to draw from life, and I want to work on human subjects. Problem is, I don't know anyone who would model for me.

Is working off of photographs bad for your form? Is it any different from drawing what you see IRL?

Most cities have uninstructed life drawing sessions you can drop in and pay like $10 to draw for a few hours. Look up community centers, meetup.com, and local art schools.

Otherwise ask friends or family to pose clothed, or use a mirror and draw yourself.

Photos are okay, but drawing from life is important and will speed up your learning.
