I rushed through this in a few days and never finished the book based off my D&D character. My teacher was less than happy for a week's worth of unfinished crap, but i was able to at least kinda finish the first illustration of the characters backside holding a sword.
If i could get some digital illustration tips on how to correct more of my mistakes and how to manage my time more effectively, that would be much appreciated.
here some other pages
this was never finished; however, i would appreciate some helpful feedback.
>have lots of ideas for drawings
>hundreds of references
>many books and video courses to do
>plenty of websites for gesture and other type of shit
>STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DRAW AS I STARE AT THE PAPER
>doodle the same type of boring shit I usually do and get tired of it quickly, going back online
How to escape this awful curse?
>>2930374
First of all you just start.
Then when you have something you evaluate it. Then you change it until you like it.
You have to find out what you want to do and then you have to find out how to get there.

For some reason the spear shaft seems to be bending, as the larger spear head isn't pointing away in the same perspective as the smaller spear head.
How do I become Jazza.
Do art instead of coming to /ic/ and asking for "trade secrets"

Hair looks like spaghetti. Garbage. Sad!
rotated your picture for you fag. fucking asshole gape me newfag REEEE. hope you're happy.
Because most furry art is totally up to part with industry standards right?
>>2924319
Furries aside I just can't buy into the "never do spec work" or "never sell yourself short, demand 200$ for a pinup" reasoning, especially when it's aimed at artists who are struggling to get any work in the first place. Oh yeah sure I'll just hike my prices up tenfold, that'll help.
It's always some industry veteran who struck gold a few decades ago who says this, maybe they're out of touch?
>>2924363
You're a fucking fag if you agree to spec work. The one exception would be a labour of love project, but other than that forget it. Good clients want to pay you.

>Dream Goal of becoming a comic book artist
>Trained hard every day for 2 years. Studied fundies and all that crap
>Do first comic, looks like complete shit.
>Also don't enjoy doing it, I'm not sure if it's because i'm struggling with it or because i'm legitimately not interested in making comics
>Feedbadman
Post comic

Ya burned out.
I'm just now getting back into the swing of things after 1+ year of just studying studying studying and not being able to draw for fun.
Dont worry, just watch drawing videos or pick up a book or an instrument to recover after a while.
>>2921585
Doing comics is another skill you should be developing in tandem with the fundies. You don't "master" art first then do a comic. You learn the basics and fail a lot, and make comics and fail a lot, both at the same time. Eventually your skills in both will be okay.
not sure where to post this but Sup my girl is wanting a tattoo of my zodiac and my initials S.B with taurus zodiac can anyone who is good at art or photoshop to put my initals in the middle of it the pic ? it would mean alot
Does anyone else feel this way? I've failed a lot in life and I'm not really where I should be, but my parents have lfited me up as much as they could and I've still got a comfy life. I really feel like I'd like a successful art career, and it could be something I enjoy and help ulift me into a high quality life.
But now because of those failures, I'm feeling inferior to people who are completing Math degrees, or opening successful businesses. Or even PhD grads who are doing meaningful research.
Is this insecurity founded or is it just me?
The more you put in solid work towards your art the more you will feel fufillment.
An artist is just like any other worker, a specialist in thier field, and the better their work is the more they receive respect.
What kind of art do you want to do anon? And what nearby institutions can provide you with the proper education?
A career doesn't make you happy
>>2929321
>What kind of art do you want to do anon?
Mostly video game art (don't judge me). I want to work in the art department of a successful vidya studio.
>And what nearby institutions can provide you with the proper education?
I'm Canadian, so near me there's only Sheridan College and Humber College. Humber is a shit-tier place to learn but there's a 2 year degree sort of deal that might work towards getting an H1B visa if I can combo it with work experience.
Then Sheridan has their animation degree, but I'm not really into animation. Their illustration program seems okay, though. Not good, not bad.
Hard to swallow $45k over 4 years, especially since I'm 25 now, but it seems like if I want to move to the states and move forward with my career, I'd have to take that leap so I can use a degree to leverage that.
To be completely honest
I fucking hate drawing, it makes my life more miserable
>have to get good for years in order to be able to work
>shit money
>oversaturated market
Why did I fall for this
Then stop crying and do something else with your life.
We could do with less competition.

Who ever said you must be a pure artist?
Knowing how to draw is a great skill to have. Add it onto some other skill and you can easily become a hybrid that can work pretty independently.
Programming skill + drawing = Game dev
Engineering skill + drawing = architecture, product design, technical sketching
Writing skill + drawing = VN, comics, illustrated books
Singing + drawing = MVs
A lot of opportunities as long as you are willing to look for them
>>2925842
>have to get good for years in order to be able to work
basically any education
>oversaturated market
like every other profession
>shit money

getting the face to look symmetrical from the front sure is a lot of trouble. So i used the mirror tool to combine the image with itself to achieve a symmetrical drawing which looks a lot better than the original. Doesn't feel right to do this, what's your opinion /ic/?
>>2928995
Only applies when the face is facing directly at the viewer.
You're also a lazy bastard. Fuck off and git gud.
It doesn't take too long to get things right with practice.
Pretty much all of my figure turnarounds are slightly tilted (it's amazing how much a half millimeter here or there can just fuck everything up) and I can't find the mirror or "symmetrical ruler" tool in Clip Studio Paint anywhere.
>it doesn't feel right to do this
There's absolutely nothing wrong with this if the situation calls for it, it's not even close to being a gray area like tracing or photobashing or something like that. There's nothing wrong with being a principled artist but being a luddite just for the sake of it is dumb my dude.
>>2928995
bad idea because you're not learning to look at your picture. You should be looking at the right picture and see where the proportions are wrong. In order to help you, you can use the horizontal flipping tool to get in habit of checking symmetry / proportions
Proposition Edition
Would anyone be interested in a general for just random doodles? Like dumb ms paint art or stuff like that
I think it'd be a good way to warm up or just chill out and have some fun with drawing
Thoughts?
