I'm looking for a piece of art that's similar to this here:
http://knowyourmeme.com/photos/511922-do-you-love-the-colour-of-the-sky

It was a similarly long piece, but was full of fantastical landscapes. It started in space/heaven or something, and descended until it went through the colors of the sky, reached a mountain range, descended into caves, then the core of the earth, then hell and some other dimensions, etc. I've been looking and can't seem to find it.

I wanted to start a new project within the next year which is around the textures that define a city.
I wanted to make a video about it but i'm kinda lost within the creative part of it.
Got the idea after watching a review which focused on the textures of the skin of old people to show the "sharpness" of a camera and thought it would be really nice to do something like that but in a bigger scale.
I'm stranded on how to proceed and can't find any help guiding me.

Saw that this was a critique / artwork and was thinking if you guys would help brainstorming with me for a bit so I could get the gears going.

How many of you were good at drawing when you were kids?
I used to be good at drawing realtive to my peers when i was in elementary and that was pretty much the thing i was known for, but then i stopped drawing until recently at 22, when i started to learn the fundamentals. And you know what? I FUCKING SUCK. I'm far worse than anyone in the beginners thread and it made me think talent is one big meme.

So who else showed talent at drawing when they were kids? Did it have any effect on your skills once you started to draw more seriously?

Is it possible for a picture to cause physical damage to the viewer?

what one sees is in an object, be it art or a turd has nothing to do with art or turd.
>>
Probably, when some has been conditioned to feel pain at the sight of something particular. But then, that could work with anything.
Or do you mean, like, wounds? For that you could always hit someone with a heavy frame, though that wouldn't be the picture itself. But you can cut someone with paper, or inhale poisonous fumes from paint. Or just straight up eat it, that's probably not too healthy.
More indirectly, the idea suggested by an image may lead someone to do something physical damaging. Or the conditions, under which somebody makes a picture are damaging.

For starters, your linework is very dirty, which seems to suggest this is either unfinished or very lazily done. The hands holding the sword are very awkwardly placed and look very unnatural, and additionally the right hand isn't even a RIGHT HAND. The mouth isn't aligned correctly with the rest of the face (it looks slightly Ctrl+v'd imo), and the left arm seems to clip through her boob like a 10 year old experimenting with Garry's Mod.

For what it is, it makes an okay thumbnail.

Hi /ic/,

Was arguing with a friend who is also a concept artist. Do not want to be associated with here so not posting work.

But, why do people go through all the hours to learn 2D concept art when it getting replaced with 3D concept art all the time.

Pretty much 90% of my work is in zbrush now and other 10% is in substance painter.

Worst if someone said they wanted an environment for a new game I would just open maya and model it. With modular pieces its really easy to kit bash stuff together.

Guys just please do not waste 1,000 hours drawing perspective and stuff when your going to end up using sketch up. Also, look at artist the new concept artist coming along and they are all using 3D.

Soon the 2D concept art guys will be like guys who do concept art on paper.

What? 2D is still a big thing, and it's often used in conjunction with 3d. Knowing 2d will also help you even if you are doing a piece that is 100% 3d.

There is a whole feng zhu video about this. Look for the video on 2D vs 3D.

Which is more productive?

studying hard on one topic, like anatomy, until you master it.

Or doing a wide range of skills all the time, some anatomy, some value studies, some still lifes etc.
10 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>2944846
I think it varies from person to person. Either way it will take a long time to get good.
>>
All you need to do is UNDERSTAND anatomy, not master it. Unless you're drawing for anatomy textbooks being able to build a completely accurate model from the ground up isn't neccessary, just knowing what is where if your art demands it.

If you plan on drawing complex poses, or making an action/sex comic knowing anatomy is a huge "YES". A lot of artists only know "stock poses" and you can see it when the person is in a strange position (climbing out of a ladder chute, swinging their arm behind them, looking down upon the camera at their feet, etc.)

However, arms, feet, legs and necks are the main thing you should focus on.

its strength really lies in the expressive linework, but yeah it's complete shit for weeaboos like you.

>bridgeman really doesn't explain the medical terms he uses either.
He's best when used in conjunction with a more scientific book. Also be sure to read his actual books like Constructive Anatomy and Human Machine and not that complete pile of trash that is the "complete" guide.

>its strength really lies in the expressive linework
The linework isn't anything special. I'd say the strength lies in his approach to forms and how different forms interact with other ones. He's very planar and solid and knows when and how to simplify or group things.

This phrase always ticks me off. It's as if to say that webcomics are inferior to other fields in art like conceptart or illustration. Like you'll never hear the phrase "the art is passable for an illustration or the art is passable for an animation" why are webcomics allowed to have lower qualities of art?
43 posts and 9 images submitted.
>>
Time and cost 0.
>>
>passable for an illustration
>passable for an animation

These phrases are often said, though. It is often accompanied with the preconcieved standards for these mediums. When people say "passable for a webcomic" they already have a set standard for what a "typical" webcomic looks like, thus the standards.
