Emphasis on diversity of faces/body over attractiveness and a disdain for traditional beauty standards. The western standards for beauty are pretty restrictive, so while ignoring them does produce more varied and distinctive character designs, which is a plus, it also in characters just looking less attractive.

The tumblr style literally thrives on rejecting the conventionally attractive, it should surprise absolutely no one that tumblr-style artists will produce disgusting looking characters, nor that other tumblrinas will praise how beautiful they are. They participate in the insulting "omg youre so beautiful" shit daily.

I really wish people would just learn what the point of tumblr art is.
Its supposed to by ugly, that is literally the point of the whole thing. By being ugly its "rejecting conventional beauty standards".
Its not ugly because of their style or skill, but because they want it to be ugly. Now whether or not you agree with that is irrelevant. But it is intended so its purpose is accomplished.

while your concepts themselves might be a little weak, your technical ability is outstanding. you're a very skilled artist.
THere are a lot of "how to draw books" out there, i dont know if that would be the best place to market yourself. but if you made a book with some vital art tips and a lot of talk about coming up with concepts, a little bit of composition i'd probably buy that

You need to do perspective do do reflections right. The perspective is already wonky in this, it is beyond salvageable.

Perspective is totally wrong, but I do not agree that this image is beyond salvageable. It is a learning experience and it would be a pity just to throw it out. Maybe at a later date when you feel more confident, but by now why not save it?

Here's what I would suggest:

- Remove the horizon.
- Add some fog effects.
- Reduce contrast in base of statue.
- Add some greenish reflected light in statue (it is weird that eveything is green and the statue does not reflect this at all)
- Blend the border between the statue and water.
- In general, avoid dark edges (from pencil?) around objects, as it makes everything flat.

That's hot.
