>Draw
>Don't know what I want to get good at drawing
>Wind up drawing boxes and practicing form, perspective
>Ultimately waste my time
>Don't want to draw anything just for fun
>Have given up on becoming an illustrator

Sometimes I wonder why I draw.
I don't know why I just keep making pretty pictures.

I'm so lost.

I don't know what I want to do anymore.

There was never an objective in my brain aside from learning how to draw people, and I've come to see it doesn't take much to "master" that to a point of sufficiency.

I thought I could start animating after I learned how to draw, but I've come to discover that it takes an obscene amount of time. Time I don't have.

Does anybody else ever feel this way?

Maybe find another hobby to do alongside drawing. You seem like you're suffering from creative exhaustion or something.
>>
>>2963120
your approach is flawed from the get go, i wouldn't want to draw either if all i did was boxes, form, and perspective. enjoy yourself OP, draw anything and everything. all that other shit comes together naturally over time and with practice.

>Have given up on becoming illustrator
>given up

There's your problem m8, also bet your drawings are shite, post ur art

If you're bored with art maybe try changing up the subjects, theres so much shit to learn people spend lifetime master in it, if you dont see fun in learning new shit and getting better idk.

change ur attitude for the start

>does anyone has any experience with these educations?

institutions, you mean.

No, but I trust you've seen the statistics pertaining the dubious relevance formal education represents for artists, yes?

If you're hellbent on going somewhere anyway try at least looking up the work of the teachers and graduates beforehand. if the work has substance and showcases technical prowess then maybe its not a waste, if its all gimmicks abandon all hope - my proposition for a rule of thumb in this matter.
>>
I don't want to go there to get technically better, but conceptially + not limited by the rules of funding to make a film with expert guidance + building a network in foreign countires

What brush settings would you use to get clean looking lineart like this in photoshop during the inking stage?

Unless I use a huge amount of time to finesse my lines with bezier curves, my lines have a really "sketchy" look in Photoshop. Is there a faster way aside bezier curves or lasso tool?

bitch def has a bulge

the only way to get clean smooth lines is to use a program that has vector rendering, like corell draw. The vectore line rendering allows the program to smooth tthe lines, idk maybe photoshop has that capability too just google line smoother or something

But drawing anime is where it's at for people commissioning work since it's currently the most popular style at this moment.

People that draw anime or strive to draw it are mostly if not only in it for the quick money.

Can we talk about work ethic? I've noticed a lot of artist that stream are watching and/or streaming movies at the same time. The problem is; these artists will stream for 10 hours a day but work for about 1-2 while the 8 hours slacking off or doing whatever.

I want to start to stream soon, how can I avoid being like these artists?

Don't fucking watch movies while streaming???
>>
>>2964452
I used to stream. I was productive roughly 90% of the time, the other time joking around or doing some sketch requests. Would actually stream to get stuff done, because I felt like I couldn't slack off while others are watching. So yeah, also ended up with 12 hours.

Generally I'd suggest you to set up a microphone. This seems kinda obvious, but I've seen streams where the artists spends half of the time in the chat typing.
Also know what you wanna do in your stream. Are you working on your own stuff? Giving a lecture on a subject? Just want to doodle and play games? Set a goal and make it clear in your advertisement what the stream is about.

And have planned breaks. You need to get some lunch at a point but you also need people to know when you're back.

tl;dr You avoid being these autists by actually caring about your audience and/or your work. Why else would you stream?
>>
>>2964452
Why do you spend 8 hours looking at some dude slacking off? That's like an entire day just sitting watching the grass grow.

Is there any value in keeping very old art? Ive had this dA since before i started getting serious, and im no where near professional but ive heard scouters/employers are turned off by seeing old art; even if its obviously extremely old. If i ever really do git gud i want to have all of my old shit art available because I know how discouraged I get when i go back into some great artists archive and thier work still looks amazing. Its not like a have a ton of followers or anything, and its not even under the handle i use rn; but It would hurt to completely nuke it.

(pic related, one of the first in the gallery)

Just keep it, DA isn't professional anyway. Create a seperate website for your portfolio instead.

Da have storage options where you can plop your art in that you don't want seen.

My university offers a summer session drawing for beginners. It's 100$ for half the summer. Should I go for it or just grind on fundamentals and pocket the cash?

I just spent about a minute on this

>>
$100 is nothing for in-person instruction. Do it.
>>
I'd do it. You have nothing to lose and 100$ is a phenomenal price for a course that lasts half the summer. I suppose you'll go through the basics of construction and value and do a lot of sketching, at your level definitive worth it. I'm a tad more advanced, but I'd also do it, just for having an instructor and people to talk about drawing. I'm lonely, I wish I knew artists in real life.

Looking for a red-pilled artist for a comic book, needs to be high quality and the style must be similar to modern western comics, I'm paying around $100-150 a page. Figured I would have better luck here than trawling through the trash at DA. If you're up for it, or if you know someone who might be, let me know

good luck finding an artist who will support whatever political agenda you have. That's always a red flag.
>>
>>2963099

Alt-Light'ish, but yeah, it's a very liberal community in general so I'd figure I'd try here first.
>>
I'd do it but I'm about to start drawing my own webcomic this week and I don't want to derail my motivation now that it's finally happening.
Also, I've kinda soured on red pill culture anyway. I still agree with all the ideas and arguments, but proclaiming oneself a bearer of the red pill is sorta getting cringe. (I.e. Sargon.)

I mean, I'm writing that shit into my comic too but I'm gonna be subtle with it.

I wish you luck though mate!

Bump.
I'd post my work but it was done on the back of an old school notebook and it's 6PM, so pictures without flash are invisible because it's dark and pictures with flash are invisible because, well, it's a flash on a white piece of paper.

Read Kandisnky's On Spirituality in art.
The basic idea behind modernism is to portrait things as they feel.
maybe start with the very early modernist like Van Gogh or Scriabin.
>>
>>2964077
Uninspired thematic that has literally nothing interesting going on. There is nothing visually apealing or interesting about this piece. You use dull midtone colors that have neither contrast in value, nor in saturation. Your failed attempt to utilize a tetrad color scheme is just the icing on that shitcake you created.
On the technical side this is literally MS Paint. If it had brushstrokes or any kind of visual cue it would at least be something. No offense, but his is literally the most expressionless bland piece I've seen all week.

i had a doubt so i thought i might as well ask here. when you use references for your drawings, do you think it comes more in handy or more comfortable to have them physically in books or papers?

and also, i was thinking of cropping some different body parts of different works to use as references, kind of like pic related, but i sort of feel weird of working with stuff that's not intended to be used as references you know? like a sheet of poses and boxes is fair games but an actual drawing is something else. i don't know these questions just occurred me because soon i may have access to some free black and white printing so i thought that having some references or tutorial sheets around may be useful
