Sai 2 has been in development for like 6 years and there isn't a complete version yet and the last cracked version is the beta from July of the last year
I know manga studio is superior in many things but the line art and the vector system of Sai is completely superior to any other software

Krita is way better for artists overall. Sai babies your hand too much.
Everyone i met at art school that used sai was a shit-tier animu artist that refused to even try other programs and bitched their whole way through digital painting. One even stopped using photoshop partway through the class and kept using sai instead of learning an industry standard program.
Fuck you sai babies. There's way better shit out there.

So the file image is where my skill level was 4 years ago, roughly before I started attending college. Basically what happened was that before entering college, I was a nerd that drew a lot but after entering college I became a normie, attended lots of parties, fucked a lot of bitches and completely abandoned art since I only did art as an escape. Anyway, I'm done with college, got a degree in business and now I'm back to square one.
My girlfriend left me and because it was out of state, I'm not in touch with my friends anymore. I work a full time job at best buy and honestly I feel depressed all over again. So I figured, I'd go back to art to alleviate it. The problem is that I practically lost all my drawing skills. I've been practicing diligently for the last 6 months and I can't seem to get past this beginner stage(which i will link in my reply) wtf do i do?
At least back when I didn't have friends i was good at art. Now I have no friends, no gf and bad art.

“You are fired” were the last words I heard as I left the job where I worked for over 8 years and that is a long time, time so long enough that one can develop a strong bond with the job they so hate but then again money make people do cray things. As I left the building after surrendering my work authentication card which read my name “Stan” in big bold letters just then a fellow employee who was smoking outside the office building came over and asked me “Now what” and left abruptly as my former boss called him back but those two words never left me. As I walked near the parking lot and pulled out the keys to enter my car a cold feeling ran through my spine I thought it was guilt at first but then I looked back out of fear and saw a bleak shadow which had a similar figure like mine staring at me with cold dark eyes or at least that’s what I thought they were and as I stared back at them I kinda froze in my position due to fear and I stayed still until it passed leaving traces of cold and fear as I gained back control of my body and entered my car a twenty minute journey began to my home with nothing but absolute fear as my thoughts focused on deciphering who or what the shadow was and also “What Now”

Change it to "You're." Unless the character is a foreigner, almost no one speaks without contractions like this. Dialogue has to be natural after all.
Re-write that whole first sentence though. it's a huge run-on.
I suggest leading it into the part where he leaves the building THEN talking about the bond.

The part about the smoking employee seems pointless, and why is your character saying "Now what?" to the guy going back inside? That doesn't make sense. A "Hope he fairs better than me.." line would make more sense if this is what you mean by that.

So that's how i'd write this if i were to do it just for example. You have a neat idea starting but you need to start using a thesaurus (Just use online ones they're fucking FREE), checking your run-on sentences, and making sure shit flows better. If you were telling this story to a friend, you wouldn't put all of these boring details. Less is more if you use the write wording.
That being said, I don't know how much critique you'll get on /ic/ since it's more of an art board than a writing board, and I don't know if /lit/ is open to that or not but its worth a shot.
Good luck bruh hope this helped you understand what you could be doing a little better.
Also don't use cray like that unless you're writing from the perspective of a teenaged girl from 2007.

aight, havin some trouble with programs here, any of you can help?
so since yesterday i've been using paint tool sai, worked perfectly, no probalo. so today when I plugged it in and tried doodlin a bit (as seen on the right) I had a few errors - firstly whenever I drew something It came out all janky, and secondly that there was no pressure sensitivity. now at first I thought it was a problem with my wacom drivers, so I uninstalled and reinstalled them, and they worked perfectly, but still I had troubles with sai. now just to be absolutely positively sure it wasn't my tablets fault I installed the trial for Clip Studio Paint (on the left) and as you can see, works perfecto.
i've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers for the tablet, uninstalled and reinstalled sai, deleted preferences for the tablet, fucked around with settings in sai, but nothing seems to work.
I'm on a wacom intuos draw (don't laugh) and windows 10

The problem is the drivers.
CSP uses it's own, that's why the pressure sensitivity works. Maybe something to do with Win10? Did you installed with the highest permissions?

I usually have to unplug the tablet, stop any wacom services in task manager, and plug tablet back in. All with sai or whatever art program off. I have the issue a lot with a Bamboo on Win10

Whenever I tone my paper (when rendering) with pencil on Strathmore 500 series sketchbook paper, I get this annoying texture with these pockets of white throughout my tone when I really just want it to be a solid tone of gray.
Will card stock or bristol board (with vellum finish) fix my issue?
For now, I am actually doing all of my traditional work on plain printer paper since toning the paper on an extremely smooth surface (I'm using glass from a picture frame) tends to MOSTLY do the trick.

To answer some replies I'm anticipating:
Yes, I can repeatedly go over the same area with my pencil but that offsets my values to be darker and it puts more graphite on the page (which increases shiny-ness).
Yes, I know that charcoal creates dark values without shine. However, I have seen comic book pencillers lay down tones with a drafting pencil without the annoying texture issue as in pic related.
Yes, I know this issue is caused by the "tooth" of the sketchbook paper. I know it can be useful for some things, but I personally don't prefer it for pure pencil works.

No. Vellum has a similar tooth to sketchbook paper. Try plate bristol, it's much smoother.

Try smooth newsprint. It's heaven to draw on, and it's cheap af. Might not make sense for graphite, but it's ideal for charcoal.

Because you should focus on the fundamentals in fundamental classes. Without knowing what class she was taken I can't give you much more of a response than that.
What I hated is I don't draw anime I draw a western cartoon style so I had trouble doing realistic faces too but he kept saying "too anime." Fuuuu.
