Is it true that you need to work at least 16 hours a day in order to make it?

That's what Mr. Fang Zoo told me.

He trains people who want to work at Blizzard and I assume you'll be content if you manage to get a stable job drawing furry porn, so drawing maybe 6 - 8 hours a day should be good enough.
>>
>>2973733
look at how retarded this is. dude pinecone aliens with ipads coming out of their generic hr geiger ripoff spaceship lmao. but hey, at least he can crank out 5 of these in an hour right?
>>
Yeah all the people who go to his school and dislocate their shoulder or pass out in class and still have to keep drawing are making the ideal gainz

If you went to /fit/ and asked "Do I have to lift four hours every single day to make it" they'd laugh at you

I'm new to charcoal, well new in general.
My only issue with the medium is that whenever I put down a mark with the stick it cuts into the paper, even if I go as soft as possible.

This crevice then leaves a flat white line because there is a difference in paper level. It is incredibly annoying. I see people in videos and they just do really black strokes then smudge and it's buttery smooth.

Do I have to round the edge of the charcoal stick? Is it the paper quality? It also doesn't seem to smudge as smoothly as I see in videos, but that's a smaller concern right now.
Help would be appreciated.

All memeing aside, becoming an artist is probably one of the only worthwhile careers in a post-scarcity society (which I believe will happen in my artificially extended lifetime)

I came into this thread hoping for a discussion like this, do let's hijack OPs shitty thread and make this worthwhile.

Yeah, AI and robots are gonna fuck up the workforce. NO JOB is safe, except for creative types. People who are creating content, films, literature, art, music, etc....

So as artists, we're pretty much AI proof. The rest will start to go, starting with stuff like drivers, then service jobs like waiters and cashiers, even white collar jobs like bankers, etc...

I always wonder how the future will handle this. Even with universal welfare, people will still suffer mass depression due to a lack of purpose, which, imo, will only make society even MORE consumerist due to escapism. Which, again, benefits us.

We're also the prime generation for extended lifespans. Needless to say, we're gonna be seeing all this take place very very soon.

2020s to 2050s that shit is right around the corner. Have you seen the latest videos by Alphabet and Boston Dynamics?

AI is legit scary though, I'll tell you that. Whoever gets there first will have immense power. If you think shills are bad now, wait for AI shills.

I don't like how topical this thread is. I've actually fronted my artist well over 100% but I haven't set deadlines or anything like that. I have faith in him, or at least faith in the fact that he doesn't want to potentially give up on thousands of dollars worth of work. He comes across as a decent enough guy and his work is pretty phenomenal so I'm pinning everything on him for now.

Never pay in full, NEVER. Most artists lose all will to draw your commission if you'd already paid them.

The coolest ones I've gotten were album covers - you get to meet and hang out with musicians, and you get perks like free albums, backstage passes, and t-shirts. I've had a couple albums I worked on go gold and platinum, and getting RIAA gold and platinum records for the wall is pretty fucking cool.

I've done book covers, too, and seeing my work in stores is always really cool. I've never gotten over it, it still freaks me out a little when I see my published stuff in public.

I think it comes down to what you think "cool" is. Money? Fame? Perks?

If you are a /beg/inner in art, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice. We should not have to make new threads or post in the drawthread with our fundamental exercises.

Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make someone proud.

RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:

#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead (I recommend ShareX)

#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller

#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

Like anything else, practice and experience and study. It's a well covered subject in art education, google "art composition" and start reading.

There's no "secret" to it. Some people have a better feel or eye for it than others.
>>
>>2967304
not like that

Think of simple shapes, how do they relate to each other and how do they relate to the space of your canvas
I took the picture you posted and outlined what I'm talking about. The individual objects have been outlined and the background was given some lines because it has an special effect.
The magenta lines show the 3 thids rule, the simplest way to position the objects in a composition tho my lines are a bit off you still can see the relationships they convey
