Just started a WWII archer rendition. Went full lazy on the body so don't be too harsh. Any suggestions on proportions?
Post any WIP you might want suggestions on?

>Any suggestions on proportions?
Yeah, start over.
Ok besides the hands and the overlapping arm in the background. Made some small changes, but as far as proportions e.g. shoulder width to head.

No way I'm starting completely over, Mr. Proportionmeister
Suggestion: delete this thread and post in beginner thread. Also start over
Is there a board where we discuss famous artists of the past and their works? I've never been here but before I came I expected it to be that but realized quickly it was for something different.
No we only discuss manga here.

Hates modern art.
Hey I don't know why but I figured turning to 4chan for advice would be beneficial. Have been working on a massive multimedia project for the last 6 months and I am desperate to leave this life behind and pursue it and I know there are many ways to make that happen but they all involve a LOT of money. I don't expect someone or an institution to be able to fund the entire project but $10,000+ to get the wheels in motion would be a godsend, so I was wondering if anyone knew any people or organisations that fund or support artists and would be able to help out.
I would elaborate on it in further detail to someone I could contact who could be able to help fund it, but not here lol. Sorry
I am in Australia if that helps, so something based here or on an international scale would be really helpful. Thankyou

Nobody here knows how to get art funding or even what that is.
It's mostly childish manga drawings on paper and digital tablets.
Try /biz/
Don't know how helpful or knowledgable they are but they might help with this topic
I remember seeing Ruan Jia used 20k+ layers and later realizing that something like pic related requires 30 times that amount.
How much of painting is just fiddling with shit until it looks good?
I don't know how the fuck these artists get this level of detail in the first place.
>>2987597
pretty much all of it, pretty much all of art
It doesn't really require that much, but they should be the right layers from the beginning, knowing what layers come next, because adding more and more layers will increase the chance of a paint film cracking. It's best to limit the layers to the effect that the artist is going for. Some parts aren't much layers, such as the column and pedestal. Most of the layers would probably be in building up the lights in the flesh.
I would not say it's necessarily fiddling, because it depends a lot on the painter. If you're starting with paint without a design then it's more fiddling (with paint at least) than if you have your design in full before you paint. The traditional layered method which I suspect Currin to be doing a variant of is different than a lot of the modern layered methods.
Hey, just finished painting this. How much do you think I can get for it?
>>2987129
my estimate is about tree fiddy
>>2987129
how big is it?

as much as the art market will allow. no arrangement of pigment on a stretched canvas has an inherent worth of 110 million, it's all a matter of what other people are willing to pay and that the work is practically guaranteed to appreciate in value.
So i/c. They're pretending to recruit janitors again. Will you apply? Why? Why not? Any moderators or janitor here that can prove you actually look at the board ( you can ban me to prove it)
To spend/waste even more time here? No thanks, everything in moderation.
/ic/ is too much work. If we'd go by the original board rules every 2nd post would need to be deleted.

>Bored artists
Lemme guess, you want people to do it for ~recognition~ ? Yeah, good one, everybody's heard this one already.
>>2990467
Do you also ask strangers to mow your lawn for free or drop by the mechanic and ask if it would be okay when they are bored if they could change your tire free of charge?
Maybe if you plan to do community projects for free with your business you can get in contact with some local artists who would want to contribute. But I don't really feel like devaluating the business of those artist trying to make a living doing logos. I hope you can relate as you are opening a business yourself.
>>2990467
no. fuck off.
Unless when you open your business you will work for me for free, then fuck off
Hey /ic/, any of you know who this artist is? This piece was found in a very wealthy old man's condo that I was cleaning out. Any ideas of who the artist is/is it worth anything?
