Nose shouldn't even be considered in the running. Like for anything.

He just serves as an example as to how bad artists get attention. They're fucking annoying.
>>
>>3121123
Nile appeals more to the general audience than NoseBro who is more focused on his own imaginative work for himself. It's more preference than better, but in any case, Nile has better rendering skills than NoseBro and even NoseBro would admit to that.

FAQ:
Something's broken, what do I do?

>The original developer of the site has taken a leave for quite a while, originally due to medical reasons. Progress on the site is almost non-existant at this point. You can try contacting him at @LavaFlake or emailing him at [email protected].

What do we draw?

>Whatever you want. At this point there's no required topic so draw your heart out. Make sure you submit at least a half hour of work or you may get a low effort warning.

What's a low effort warning?

>The goal is to get people to draw every day by turning it into a competition. The low effort warning system is to prevent people from posting last minute, quick sketches when they're feeling lazy. If you receive a warning and it happens again within a month you'll be eliminated.

>This rule has been the cause of a lot of concern amongst newer artists so let me reiterate: this system is to police low effort content and has nothing to do with the quality of the work. New artists are more than welcome.

What happens if I'm eliminated?

>Your streak will go back to 0 and you will have to start again. No other penalties.

from 2014 to mid 2015 it was doodling in notebooks and drawing space marines from imagination

late 2015 onwards I averaged around 1 hour a day. Some days I would not draw at all while on other days I drew for 5+ hours

I mostly doodle in my sketchbook, do life drawing sessions and the occasional photo study.

Anyone know of any 1 to 2 year concept art or illustration programs/schools? Preferably in Canada or the US but if you know of any others elsewhere that'd be cool to hear as well.

I know of Brainstorm and CDA in Los Angeles but as an international going there is a pain in the ass. There's obviously FZD which is expensive as fuck and Singapore also has 3dsense but it's just as expensive as FZD but looks shittier. Canada seems to have Syn Studio which looks alright but I can't seem to find any other.

Proper art schools with long undergrads are just too long and often times not worth it in my opinion. These sort of schools completely centered around a program seem much better but there seem to be very few so any help is appreciated.

FZD isn't nearly as good as you think it is.
They only show the very few talented people who are able to make such huge leaps in only a year, but those sorts of people would be able to make those huge leaps without the schools help in a similar timeframe. They just have an innate ability to absorb and process new learning information.
The majority of the students don't do nearly as well, and if you've heard the few people who've went there and shared their experiences you'd quickly change your mind about wanting to go there.
They have some very nasty hazing methods where they would separate the promising and talented students from the so called slower learners.
Then they proceed to focus on just those promising students and ignore the slower ones because its more likely they will be able to get those impressive looking skill improvements that they can upload on their site through those students.
And the slower learners are left to basically fend for themselves as the tutors pretty much ignore when they ask for help and shit talk them, all under the excuse of them not working hard enough and being lazy, despite them all putting in 50-60 hour weeks.
That's the other issue with FZD, they make their students do insane unhealthy work weeks to fit in that entire course in a year.

And what do you get at the end of it all if you manage to do well?
You get the gift of drawing like some Feng Zhu wannabe rip-off, since all they teach is that specific workflow.
>>
>>3115949
Did you go to FZD? If so, can you post your work?

What are some good (preferably free) tools to create art? I'm not looking to make money or sell shit or even post it anywhere. I just wanted to get into art as a hobby. And while traditional art supplies are available pretty easily, when it comes to digital art there is no equivalent of "get a canvas and some painting/whatever tools" available.

So, what is the digital art canon so to speak? I want things that are useful for all kinds of art creation. Not limited to one particular style or subset. Does such a thing exist or is it really as varied as it seems where it's just a mishmash of random things?

I can google it, but google won't give me the opinions and experiences of actual artists who have used various tools and decided which are good and which aren't. Which is what I wanted.

Maybe MSpaint, Photoshop, GIMP, and instagram filters are your style, but I am looking for something decent that can make something a lot better than Sonic fanart like you.

I have a problem with rotating objects in 3d in my mind. Am I mentally impaired or is it common with beginners? I can't imagine constructing stuff from imagination without the ability to see the whole thing.
13 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Ability to rotate objects mentally is often cited as a higher IQ skill but that doesnt mean youre impaired and this can be learned. observe more objects.
>>
practice drawing things from memory(look at your reference for a set amount of time without drawing and then try to do the drawing without looking at your reference) and do studies were you draw an object from a different angle to the one shown in the reference. Do this and you will get way better at seeing images in your mind.
>>
I tend to have the opposite problem I have to either rotate the object and or force it to move like a short gif. if I try to picture a still image I can't hold it for more than a few seconds without it distorting

I'm in love with yoshinari's work and I'd really like to grasp his "style"; my question is, how do you think that animators like him evolved their way of drawing from real life studies? How can I "get" it?

It's not healthy, also study is a matter of quality, not quantity, you are not wrong tho, someone could find enjoyable grinding all day; I'm not asking about the quantity of time that needs to be put into it, but the method that in your opion would be the better choice

Understand how to draw the human figure in a multitude of perspectives and in different settings.

Start with the arm. Learn how to draw it from every conceivable angle and major pose. Then move on to other limbs.

Frequently make your own personal work to gauge your progress and see if you're going in the right direction.

When stuck on how to draw something in terms of style or process, look at Yoshi's work and study it to infer their process. If you're really stuck check out the recommended how-tos from /ic/, then see if you can use that knowledge to infer Yoshi's process.

Do you really live in a world where normies just take for granite how much skill and practice there is in knowing how to draw on a professional level where people consider it lower than having a pretty face and saying lines in front of a camera? Not including artists are literally payed just as much as fast food workers?

Do you do strengthening exercise? Like Stronglifts, pillates or rock climbing?
Add an exercise that strengthens the muscles of your whole body and you'll be good. Stretch before and after you get into your comfy pose.

You can catch issues early on by stretch carefully, you'll know when you can't handle it anymore. I'd focus on your neck and trapezius.

Keep doing you and water that flower <3
