So I've been lurking /co/ a lot lately and they always seem to get swept up in a new waifu.
This may sound stupid but, is it okay to put myself out there and draw the waifus for them just to get my name out there and known a bit more? Or is that cheap heat?
>>2999958
It isn't cheap at all but if you want your name "to get out there" you should aim a little higher than being popular on /co/.
>>2999958
Free art should ONLY be done for self-promotion. I would also say that doing "requests" may not be the right way to go about it regardless-rather you should draw what you want in a topical thread and make sure you have your watermark handy.
You're making yourself sound like a filthy prostitute
How do define the difference between cute and sexy?
>>2999313
intent.
waifu or daughterfu
they are two separate concepts that often overlap

In my opinion, there's too high of a contrast in too small of a space so it's almost migraine-inducing. It just looks like a gray blob from far away and the detail gets lost.
>Modern art
>Drawing this shit instead of Anime.
>It's not crap it's muh style
I would Like To share with you my last tattoos, if you like my work follow me on my IG page, emilianomataleao.
I hate when graffiti "artists" paint manga characters.
It is a disgrace to something pure and innocent and what I believe is one of the highest forms of art.
Imagine creating something.. only to find out your creation has inspired mindless vandalism.
Imagine how Picasso or Dali would feel if they inspired vandalism when they were trying to promote real art and follow the law like moral human beings.
Absolute garbage.

stop posting shit threads and work on your art. we're all going to fucking die one day, so live your life to the fullest.

the second one is far more interesting

Graffiti thread.

If only more graffiti was that cool. I don't think the world deserves it though. Funny how we put up with ugly commercial advertisements, yet we freak out about ugly non-commercial ones.

>Funny how we put up with ugly commercial advertisements, yet we freak out about ugly non-commercial ones.
Yeah, it's so odd how people get mad about random greasy stoner morons spray painting STUPID SHIT on the surface of their PRIVATE PROPERTY you DENSE! RETARDED! IDIOT!
>>2998541
Was that an ironic freak out post, or a sincere one? Do you live somewhere that doesn't have ugly commercial signs, billboards and ads that outnumber non-commercial eyesores 1000 to 1? Questioning your sincerity might be giving you too much credit. If you have a reading comprehension issue, disregard this post. Have a nice day.
Although I am not a Catholic, I can't help but appreciate the emotions that are evoked when looking at the eyes in this painting. The dark shadows under her bottom eyelid are what lures me into the person in said painting. I was wondering what are your thoughts on it; do the eyes have as a strong effect on you as it does to me? Also, it would be much appreciated if you could post more pictures with as alluring eyes like the one in pic related.
pic very much related

eyes are pretty neat
I hate this
We finally have something in common.

What's your opinion on James Gurney?
Before I went to Europe I watched heaps of his videos. He inspired me quite a lot
I'm not a fan of Dinotopia but his blog and books are pure gold.
I really like his blog.
He also seems to be a nice guy.
Wondering if someone can help me out. I've sketched out a fairly large mural on a wall in my nephews room using sharpies. It's just a few different characters. I'd now like to give it some color but I want a thin paint that I could go over the sharpie with, but without it diminishing the lines. So, something that would perhaps dye the paper rather than putting a layer over the top. The reason is that I absolutely cannot paint so I just want to give the relevant sections a hint of the right color.
Can anyone advise on what kind of paint I'd be looking for? It doesn't have to be vivid so I was currently thinking of just using those chalky ones that kids use - the one you add water to.
>>2994975
you are looking for transparent paint.
you in good in luck because sharpies are water proof so it will stay put.
as for the paint I would recommend watercolors. but really anything would work in your case, even oils. the only thing that you need to nail is the consistency of the paint.
so how much water you mix with watercolor to get the right transparent consistency. and keep that the ration in handy as you will probably run out and need to remix couple of times.
go now faggot. leave this place. you do not know the awful dread you are tampering with.
Be careful when doing it.
>>2995513
you're an arsehole.
HEY /ic/- i'd like to talk to you guys about self-promoting around the Internet and what do you think about it: is it annoying, valid, important?
i've recently created some media accounts to share my art and honestly, as all of you, i'd like some people to see it! even if a few! so i've been trying this "self-promoting" thing and turns out it's boring and humiliating as hell
>>2993141
What is your goal? Why would you self-promote? Also, grab this chance and post your damn site.
I personally cold call/email clients and plow through the rejection rate. When promoting on Facebook/Tumblr/DA/... you leave it up to chance for
1) A potential client seeing you
2) At the exact time they need you
3) Them choosing you amongst every other artist
Cold calling removes 1). Networking would remove 2) and 3) as well, but I don't know how to do that.
Now I am active online, but for fun and out of gratitude. Providing magic instead of expecting magic to bless me.
OP here
my goal is far from a professional one- i'd just like an audience to what i do- cause putting it out for basically no one is quite desistimulating (since i've been doing it for a long time)
i've been promoting on tumblr and instagram but honestly i feel like when you're good things should just come naturally? i don't know. that's why i was looking for people with good following here to give me some advice!
thanks for answering the post! could you post your site? im curious now
I will never understand those kind of threads. If you need "manuals" for simple shit like self-promoting how do you even draw? Drawing needs a lot decision making
>John William Godward (9 August 1861 – 13 December 1922) was an English painter from the end of the Neo-Classicist era. [...] His style of painting fell out of favour with the arrival of painters such as Picasso.
>He committed suicide at the age of 61 and is said to have written in his suicide note that "the world is not big enough for myself and a Picasso".
Contemporary art hate thread? Contemporary art hate thread.
>>2991355
Picasso isn't even contemporary. You literally couldn't even define the word contemporary if I asked you right now
Not this thread again. I wish there's a better universe where saging a thread could kill absolute faggot that OP is.
>>2991369
Contemporary means modern and up to date.
I drew this in class when we were supposed to create a different version of Mona Lisa using both digital and physical methods. My art teacher told me that i needed something more refined if i wanted a better grade than C. What can i do to make it look more refined?
Your class is bullshit
It's clear that they're not teaching anyone any fundamentals in how to draw and paint
A requirement of making something in both traditional and digital is a stupid requirement that teaches nothing and just makes it harder to produce a good image
Physical mediums are dead anyway
Parodying the Mona Lisa teaches nothing
The teacher clearly doesn't care about you otherwise they would have offered more useful critique
Drop out, reapply for a stem program, get a job and draw in your free time. You will make faster progress
>>2999664
Black clean line work and shading on the skin and metal. Right now it looks unfinished.
>>2999668
we only have art class one hour a week and the only reason we have it is because the school wants us to know the basics of drawing since we are studying to become engineers. The Mona Lisa project is only something we have been doing for three weeks to learn how to use a tablet. The problem i have is that i have no idea about how i make it look more refined.
I was wondering if i was able to make a request to draw Guts from Berserk very simply in a few different angles face and body so i could have something to work off as there isn't a whole tone of drawings on him that i can see. I'm pretty new to it all so nothing fancy. And won't copy just something to work off myself
If this isn't allowed or you're just gonna throw some negative comments at this just delet pls
>>2999661
how much are you paying?
You mean character sheet?
Just goole "Guts character sheet", there are plenty.
