for a garbagethread
Currently working on a digital painting, and really enjoying it, but it's murder on the eyes, always looking at a screen. Do you guys use eye drops? When you're focused on your work it's easy to lose track of time and not take enough breaks.
>>3004097
Eye "cupping" really helps me. Here's how you do it:
>every hour take a break, anywhere from 60 seconds to five minutes
>rub your hands together and cup them over your eyes, blocking 100% of the light out without actually applying pressure to the eye itself
>keep your eyes open while staring into the blackness
>(optional) try to make your field of vision as black as you can while cupping - imagine a black orb in the middle of the FOV, growing until it fills your entire view, only to imagine another, blacker orb in the middle of that layer of blackness, etc.
>breathe as deep and regular as you can this entire time
Every time I remember to do this, my eyes feel much better and relaxed. You could also try EyeLeo to remind you to take eye breaks every hour or so:
And if you work at night, you could try f.lux, which gradually turns the blue light in your computer to red at sunset, helping your eyes and regulating your sleep cycle:
>>3004111
lol, i start hallucinating when i do this. cooler than phosphenes
i use flux normally but it isnt good when painting, it will look different/wrong the next morning
>>3004111
F.lux should NEVER be used in an art environment, as it changes the gamma of your screen, which changes all of the values in the piece. This is horrible, horrible advice.

Why haven't you downloaded all these Loomis books yet?
>>3003013

I don't like posting in the gens, and it's difficult to get an in-depth critique with all the posts.

nice values, but a little more of dark tones would help to make it pop out, but the ear looks like too low. I think u should polish it more before u ask a critique
I'm insterested to draw in this type of drawing: Ligne Claire.
For more detail about this style: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ligne_claire
Any recommendation? I used traditional media to make the lines (pencils, rotring marker. Sometimes i used photoshop to review the drawn lines). After this i used photoshop or letraset marker to add the color.
Artists references? Hergé, of course. Winsor McCay, Moebius, Ozamu Tezuka, Walter Crane... etc.
Let's discuss about that.
Thanks (And sorry for my English.)
Pic related.
>>3001341
bump with another reference: Winsor McCay Little Nemo in Slumberland.
>>3001341
You may want a mapping nib if you're seeking to emulate McCay's look. It would look good in combination with watercolours but I haven't tried it yet.
Fundamentals. Fundamentals out the ass. Without line weight, heavy blacks or fancy rendering you have nothing to hide behind.
Is everybody here trying to get better at drawing in order to get into the animation industry or earn a living with it?
Or are you just practicing your drawing skills as a hobby so you can for example, put your art in different websites or create Animations/Web comics.
I just like drawing myself.
I don't know, OP. Help me make the decision.
>>2994746
Don't know anon, if you think you are good and don't mind sucking some dicks to get connections in the industry, I think you could make It. Personally I think it's risky so I prefer to draw just as a hobby. But if I get a call to make something like for example that Tumblr girl who was called to work for Cartoon Network then I would more than gladly accept.
Staedtler makes a pretty good mechanical pencil.
Pentel is also pretty good imho.
Only classic
Mitsubishi Kuru Toga
This. The 925-25/35 are pretty good though, better than the meme Rotrings.
this is my fist drawing im doing on a PC and i need advice and help any tips or ides just the start just dont hate
>>3004371
Do comedy it would work in this style
>>3004371
Read the sticky, needs more loomis, etc. etc.
Why everything i ever draw for the last 3 years had been nothing but disappointments?
Every damn time, finished a pic half way, the next day i wake up, i see nothing but garbages.
Will i ever draw something that will satisfy me for the rest of my life?

>Why everything i ever draw for the last 3 years had been nothing but disappointments?
Your creativity has been poisened by the water, food and media mind control. You may never be creative if you don't break free.

>finished a pic half way, the next day
i never go to bed with an unfinished picture. Each drawing gets exactly one day to make it to completion. If I didn't have enough of a vision to complete it in that first day, then it will just become a polished turd.
Maybe you should start off something small and do-able in a day if it is a big problem for you. I'm not sure how big your drawing is, but it sounds like your being a bit too ambitious. I haven't done art for a month and it's only been days since I've been getting my old habits again. I draw at least one pose a day and try to increase my output. pic related.

pretty annoying video, dude
how can i make this look like grass?
by photoshopping pictures of grass on to it
Look at how grass strings interact with light IRL and try to emulate that
>>3004085
By studying grass, and learning to render it, like I told you in the other thread.
If you're looking for step by step instructions, that's not happening. Put the work in.
