>>3008304
get intuos 3 from ebay.
>>3008351
seconded, 4 is fine too. as long as it's before they changed the branding around and an intuos became an intuos pro, and the lame budget tablets became intuos, that was when the quality really bottomed out.
>>3008362
I'm using a 5 since release and no problems so far. what do you mean with the quality bottomed?
How in the flying fuck perspective rulers work on Paint tool Sai 2 ?! This is the 2 vanishing point ruler, you are supposed to have 2 vanishing points and the horizon line Sai has 3 fucking points and none of them are a vanishing point and 2 blue lines that I don't idea what they are.
How the fuck that triangle forms a 2 perspective ruler ?!
Just let me put the 2 fucking gay faggot vanishing points on the canvas or outside the canvas, the horizon line and that's all. I don't understand this magic triangle system, help me senpai !!!

I know your trying to be funny, but it's really stupid
I think it's pretty funny to be honest
new thread. let's assume that the reader has no experience with art outside the mandatory high school shit
I'll post what I've got planned for my reading
>Perspective
Perspective Made Easy by Ernest R. Norling
>Anatomy
Figure Drawing for All it's Worth by Andrew Loomis
>Lighting
Light, Shade, & Shadow by E. L. Koller
>Color
Painter's Guide to Color by Stephen Quiller
I think these would be a good starting point for graphic art, anyone else think so?
>>3010458
Don't fuck with books. Just copy works by masters until you git good
>>3010458
Swap LooMEME for Figure drawing, design and invention book from Hampton, really solid stuff.
>>3010683
My main problem with Hampton's design and invention is that he doesn't teach proportions, it's not really an amazing beginner book
Lomeme -> Hampton -> George Bridgman's complete guide for drawing from life
That's what I would recommend as a "foolproof guide on drawing the body" for a beginner, and of course a lot of gestures on pose sites.
Greetings from /x/! I found a spoopy video with this painting in it, and I was wondering if any of you guys can help figure out what painting it is. I reversed image searched it and came up with John Martin but none of his paintings match. Can any of you help? Thanks. Sorry for the poor quality.
>>3010356
Is this bait?
Ok /ic/ I have an idea.
We pick a syllabus and follow it.
Then we post our work on the due dates in this thread and critique eachother's work.
Slso if any anons go to a prestigious art school can you post your syllabi/ assignments? Thanks

Just a quick question. How new are you to this website?
>>3009941
Cool
What does your artist avatar looks like, /ic/?

what the fuck, this is shitty plastic and small as fuck
I'll stick with my wooden dude thank you very much. Less detailed/articulated but also less retarded...
>>3008292
Never used the plastic ones, but the wooden dudes are virtually useless for anything but the most baby-tier basic foreshortening, and they're not even much good at that.
Anyone who doesn't have one, don't fall for the meme. They suck.
>>3008281
>Has anyone used them before? Are they shit?
their great for collages and photomanipulations
At which resolution do you paint /ic/?
I thought this was meaningless at first. But I just keep seeing that the pros paint at 15,000px wide or tall. I believed this was just in case they needed a print, but then I started thinking about how computers resize images, let me explain...
>>3006798
Computers have to invent pixels whenever an image is resized. Unless you're seeing the image at 100% zoom, the colors are being altered. The process used for rendering changes the results but this means that the edges of the pixels will blend. This forcibly creates new colors and values.
If you had a blue line and a red line at a really high resolution, and then resized them down, they would turn purple.
800px thumbs, then expand to 5k res
no reason to not paint as large as your computer can handle without lag..
>>3006802
Here is a crop of a painting from Ruan Jia. The original file was 6000px tall. Despite the ridiculously huge size, he still used did solid brush strokes as small as 1px.
I thought this was moot at first, but maybe the reason why he has such an incredible control over the values is because the process of displaying the pixels blends those ridiculously tiny scratches into other values. Then painting at a really large resolution has a very important effect on how the values and hues are represented when zooming out or resizing the image down.
hello /ic/ is there any youtube video you guys recommend for a beginner about coloring and rendering? there's a lot of videos but i feel that no one of those convinced me
>>3010663
Ctrl+Paint.
If you can't handle that, then you shouldn't be worrying about it yet, just work on the fundamentals.
>>3010665
thank you anon, also i'll check the other reply's for more options, this youtube channel seems really good for me
>>3010663
scott robertson's how to render book has some videos iirc
you are given a comission that pays ten billion dollars to " draw whatever you like"
you have inifinite time, infinite materials, and the best wacom tablet hd ten thousand whatever
the art does not have to be restricted to anything 2d 3d conceptual anything goes>:
>Mine:
Anime x graffiti x mannerism
or vaporwave chinese landscape paintings
60 years of rendering horse cocks in a giant mural
A dot
Like why would you do anything else

Can anyone tell me who the artist behind this is? Tried reverse image search but all I find is Reddit posts etc.
>>3010395
You reversed image search? Are you sure OP?
Because it popped up almost immediately for me.
It's 'Self-Loathing' by Nathaniel Talbot. Apparently made with oil and blood. Edgy.
I use apple Callender to create a weekly a schedule for myself and I do stick to it for the most part.I happy with it and It keeps me on track. but it doesn't offer any analytical features.
Is there an app that I can just input time spent on certain tasks throughout the week and it will extrapolate that data into visual graphs and pie charts so as to better grasp how am spending my time and how I can improve upon it.
There's an app called rescuetime which can track all the time you spent on your computer at least. You can tailor it, I just use it to record the time I spend in art programs.
>>3010017
>>3010027
there's an app called SaveMyTime wich tracks time spent throuhgout the day in 25 minute intervals only thing you have to do is choose the activities you do regularly every day and then the app will show up automatically every 25 minutes to ask you what you were doing in that time
it shows you a graph of your time spent for today, yesterday last week last 30 days and last year
The problem with most apps is that they don't measure if you're actually moving your hand instead of just having Photoshop open, so you don't really know how much you work.
This little one can do it.
