So I've heard time and time again furry art is lucrative. I've wanted to give it a whirl but I take a lot of inspiration from children's books and vintage pin-ups, so not entirely sure how to translate that to anthropomorphic artwork. Does anyone know any good books about animal anatomy or suggestions? Who is your favorite furry artist? Have any of you created furry art for commission? Pros and cons (outside of pexulaiar request, comes with the territory)
I've heard that too, supposedly you can make BANK on rich furries. Anyway, does it have to be pornographic? Like I'm fine with drawing a naked dog... That's usually how you draw them, but what I mean is, hardcore stuff, is that a requirement to make.. Bank? Suppose you know your stuff, but think drawing portraits is lame.
>>3016584
I mean I'd be okay with drawing something risque but I'm not too keen on drawing... Actually not much is off the table for me personally if the coins are right, I'm more concerned with executing it to the best of my abilities. There's also the fear of pupdog vore porn following me professionally.
Also I imagine any form of porn will make you some degree of bank, I just... Don't want to. For some reason drawing someone's fursona sounds more appealing than drawing some blonde getting spit-roasted.
Dont be a jew and draw furry just because you think its lucrative. Draw what you actually want to draw, i draw furry because i think its fucking hot, dont be a faker and draw it just for the money
Does /ic/ have any monster/creature designs and ideas?
I have a lot. Not quite skilled enough to use them yet. Show us some of your work.
>>3012788
Use for what, job?
>>3012815
I don't have enough skill to use my ideas to draw.
What do you make of this? It seems like people are scared of ic just because its on 4chan. Is there a way we can somehow dissolve this stigma? would we benefit by having more people on this board?
Here is some of red's work.
i might post more of his replies if he says anything else.

how do i draw using 6 point perspective?
>>3018514
The last pic is five point perspective as well
>>3018514
If you don't know what the points are, you need to go back and studying perspective.

There's only 1, 2, 3 and 5, m8.

I have an old iPad 2 that I've used to do digital plein air paintings with for two years. I love to work with procreate but I'm starting to feel a bit limited by the simple rubber stylus without pressure sensitivity input. I'm leaning towards buying a iPad Pro and a apple pencil, but I also have the chance to buy a never been used Wacom Mobilstudio Pro 16 inch model for $1000 off the regular price. I am watching a bunch of reviews and a common thread seems to be that a lot of people say that the iPad Pro is way better to have in your lap and on the go because of weight and size differences. So as I said I'm leaning towards the Apple Pro because I am going to walk around with the device a lot but the same time I really like the idea of investing in a complete mobile replacement for my home pc. Open to any comments and opinions.
>>3019526
Is the microsoft surface not even an option? Heard it was the best alternative if you can't afford the mobile studio while the apple pencil was more like a useful addition if you already owned an ipad
>>3019566
I'd have to try it myself to be sure but the overall verdict seems to be that it's inferior to the apple pencil and wacom mobilestudio stylus in how responsive the drawing experience is so that's a definite deal breaker.
>>3019566
SP is trash.
>>3019526
>Wacom Mobilstudio Pro 16 inch model for $1000 off
A grand off what? Don't those things cost like 25k or something?
Is it from a friend of yours? If yes, ask him to try it out, see what you think.
Honestly, though, I don't think it's worth it unless you are a pro and it actually earns you money, and even then, I'm not sure I'd give that kind of money for it.
If you know what procreate is like, wait a week or two until the new ipad pros hit the shelves and try it out.
I finished my first painting ever. I know it's not good but this just finishing my first feels really special to me. Tear me apart/give me pointers on how to not suck this much in the future.
Here's the right side up one. I forgot posting from the side sucks so badly.
There's not much to say other than learn how to properly post your pictures and submit them into the right thread (/beg/). Sage.
Hmm what kinda thing were you going for? something edgy and stylized or were you trying to get it looking realistic?
The quality of a person's life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor.
This was created for Reddit's 2014 Arbitrary Day; Benjamin was paired with redditor Faffri, who is a big fan of the Green Bay Packers. Lombardi immediately came to mind, and the piece was born!
A video of the creation of this piece can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-aKuHzjmb3c&feature=youtu.be
I haven't committed myself to excellence today
Crit my ass. Don't mention the hands though, I don't care about those.

The hands.
Forearms, lack of midground/background...
Im guilty of the same thing however
Try posting a finished piece first. How do you expect a proper critique when it doesn't even look like you're half way done?

Mildred and Richard Loving are best known for having gone against the anti-miscegenation laws in Virginia. They married in 1958 in Washington DC, however when they moved back to their home town of Central Point, Virginia, their home was raided by the police.
After appealing to Attorney General Robert Kennedy and the American Civil Liberties Union, the case eventually reached the U.S. Supreme Court, and on June 12th, 1967 the unanimous decision was reached that the Commonwealth of Virginia's argument that a law forbidding both white and black persons from marrying persons of another race violated both the Due Process Clause and the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.
Despite the Supreme Court's decision, anti-miscegenation laws remained on the books in several states, although the decision had made them unenforceable. In 2000, Alabama became the last state to adapt its laws to the Supreme Court's decision, by removing a provision prohibiting mixed-race marriage from its state constitution through a ballot initiative. 60% of voters voted for the removal of the anti-miscegenation rule, and 40% against.
After Loving v. Virginia, the number of interracial marriages continued to increase across the United States and in the South.
Loving Day has been celebrated annually on June 12th since 2004 by people of mixed race and people in mixed relationships.
The original artwork was commissioned by my friend Heidi Durrow for the 2014 Mixed Experience Heritage Month.

Has anyone else gotten fat since pursueing art? I went from a student to a freelancer and gained like ten pounds in the past six months.
>>3018519
no, because I eat very little + Italian cuisine
Don't blame it on art alone.
I would suggest either doing a bit of diet (just so it doesn't get worse) or sport, if you're feeling lucky.
Sport is probably also good since all that sitting is going to kill your back! Though, I can't preach what I don't practice.

This. Get into stronglifts. Takes 30min, 3 times a week.
At first you won't see much results because you lift low weights, but once you lift heavy, you start burning calories like crazy.
Do morning and/or evening walks. Download the app Pacer and get your weekly average up little by little.
Exercise will improve your art productivity too.
Then, food: I don't know your current diet, you can start by logging it.
Source: haven't been fat since 2009.

Step aside, Loomis. This is the face of /ic/'s new art intellectual.

How do you achieve that nostalgia feeling when making art?
You know that cloudy distant feeling when watching a picture.
Are there certain elements that create this feeling? For me the most obvious is the gray-blue colors atleast for me it reminds me of winter.
Also post your chill/nostalgic art pics.
>>3017098
>You know that cloudy distant feeling when watching a picture.
mmm
that's not how I'd describe nostalgia. I don't think there's a formula beyond "appeal to shit that your audience grew up on". so, turquoise and purple palettes for 90s kids, soviet realism for your russian grandparents, etc.
>>3017098
Who did this? It's nice.
>>3017098
looks like the reference photo may have been taken with film. i actually got a bit of 90s nostalgia from the painting
Looking for constructive criticism, Oil Painting.
Always a pleasure to meet a fellow Orff fan. The likeness may be a bit off in places...
put some lightened ultramarine blue and lightened yellowish orange in the face. and increase highlight on the pink by adding more white. right now colors are quite unpleasant and grotesque
