Does anyone have any experience with the Ebus art program? I'm going back to finish high school and I wanted to take it just to see what it's like. Is it like other shitty high school art programs? I'm already self-teaching and I've been doing art for a long time, but I'm still a beginner, so I would like to get the credits, but also get a little bit of a jumpstart into actually trying to git gud, Is it worth it?

They also don't have a course outline pdf to view before enrolling, so I'm not sure what the major projects are supposed to be?

Is it possible to develop eidetic memory?

I'm not talking about memorizing long numbers or order of playing cards - that's useless IRL.
But memorizing faces you see in a bus, so you can use them as a reference later, or landscapes you see and accurately draw them later would be incredibly useful for an artist.

Sadly I can't find anything useful on the Internet. Can you help me? Do you have any tips about improving visual memory?

No.
You can learn to simplify information. You should look into caricature.

I've been told time and time again that mindless doodling won't make me improve and that deliberate practice is everything. Okay, makes sense. Then I am told that I have to draw as much as I can, everyday and generally the gains come with years of repetition.

I don't get it.

What am I supposed to study if I have to draw a lot, everyday for years? Deliberate practice is to pay maximum attention to a subject and analyze it thoroughly but you can't really do that for longer periods of time as it makes your brain tired pretty fast. Drawing without deliberate practice seems useless for me because I can't see getting any gains from it personally and it makes me frustrated. Am I supposed to draw shit for 16 hours and it will magically clicks someday?

I guess I am looking for a shortcut but it's because I feel like I am stuck and I don't know what to do. I want to get gains from everything I do but it's confusing.

Define "doodling". Drawing from imagination is also practice. If you're drawing the same comfort zone things over and over while talking on the phone like a giddy teenage girl, then yeah, you're not going to learn much.
>>
>>3128977
I've learned a lot from mindlessly doodling, nothing about how anatomy works but how to simplify things in an appealing way.
>>
>>3128990

Is that "doodling" though or exploratory drawing?

I focus on bringing out the most dope diabolic version on an image

Study the planes of the face and head. If the rendering was believable and that mouth... I think you need to practice fundamentals.

this is my first time trying to draw a side view of a face and I've been drawing for about 3 weeks (taking drawing seriously)

I feel like I did something wrong here (I am aware that the drawing is unfinished) can any of you spot it or just give me tips?

Top of ear too high up, should align with top of eyelid in most cases believe.
Always trips me up how much progress art newfags can make, comparative to artist who've grown up top do what they do.
Maybe adults just jive better with instruction and have a better skill set and eye for visuals.
For 3 weeks that is fairly decent, keep going!

this, go to /beg/ next time. is this from a reference or imagination? if from reference look more closely. if from imagination draw more from reference to understand the body better, there's a few rookie mistakes (nose, ear, base of the skull, rule of thirds broken from brow to forehead)

if you wanna make it in the industry m8 you gotta learn how to learn, as in finding info instead of hoping someone will spoonfeed you his stale leftovers. There are plenty of nice people out there there that will genuinely try to help you and share their approach, for free, but they don't come to 4Chan all that often. I, for example, only do it for the art share threads, drama and shitposting, so have fun figuring out if I'm fucking with you

Artist is a Calarts student who got an internship at Pixar. What's the difference between this and chicken scratching?

Do it on paper, gesture draw
Stop looking for shit to complain about
Draw on paper first

the difference is that they got into CalArts and interned at Pixar so their chicken scratching holds more weight than yours you fucking nobody
>>
this looks a lot more alive than just a clean gesture imo sometimes a sketchier look is better when it comes to conveying form

In this thread, we choose the artist of the past (who died already), whom you would like to see as your teacher, and explain why.
N.C Wyeth - Howard Pike's student, who absorbed all the best from him. Each of his illustrations is a manifesto of simplicity, expressiveness and mystery, with great composition and lightning. I would definately like to be one of his students. He was a nice and humble person and quite a family man too.

Why would you choose NC? Other than his son who was only briefly taught by him, I can't think of any students that he had that ever went on to anything. It seems ludicrous to me that you would choose NC as a teacher instead of Pyle or Dunn considering the stuff they teach would be nearly identical except Pyle and Dunn both have insanely good track records and are legendary teachers.
>>
>>3128317
I dunno. I guess overall I just like Wyeth more in terms of art produced, thou Pyle is also such a mountain. It is a hard choice, obviously, there are so many greats but you only have to choose one.
>>
>>3128317
just cuz he wasn't a good teacher doesn't mean he's a bad artist

i'd rather be a great artist and a bad teacher
