How did Dave Rapoza go from a shoplifter to the artist he is today? I am really curious how did he get so skilled
Are you ready m8? http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IRvJ_47YjNc/Tel746hJy3I/AAAAAAAAAG8/kF0RTBJVCIA/s1600/schedule%2Bnon%2Bdesk.jpg
anatomy practice is 9 times with reff 9 times from your head. Painting practice is once with reff once from imagination. Dave uses reference despite what Crimson Daggers might say. Be intelligent with it and learn how light works. Within 2 years of starting tho Dave already had pro stuff and was getting jobs. He also was in contact with great artists who gave him advice.

Is it this hard to upload this image like a civilized person on an imageboard

Buy his orc tutorial. It's just a couple of bucks. I love the guy! He studied shit 6h.-12h. per day for 2 years.
Stuff he said he studied:
- Painting rotting fruit on his desk through the rotting process.
- Anatomy studies.
- Studying other artists.
- Photoshop (and shit).
He also did a lot of personal work and stuff. I really recommend checking out his tutorial. He's a really inspirational guy even if you don't like the edgy shit he's producing and you gotta admit that he's made a proper name for himself.
What you guys think of Egoraptor? I think he's a tragic artist story to be honest.
literally who
>>3042506
He's one of the people, together with with a few other Newgrouds animators, that got me into drawing
I never bothered to look up his story but I think it's a shame he doesn't make anything anymore and just does let's plays
>tragic artist story
?
ey, /ic/. I have something called dysgraphia, which basically means I can't draw for shit. I've always been embarrassed by my handwriting, and when I was in highschool I avoided art class at all costs.
Recently I've been trying to channel some creative energy into a new medium and I'm curious what other people think.
whats cuter, disney or anime eyes?

Bob Clampett eyes.

how do i draw chibis is there a correct way to do it?

Thanks, I can't wait to learn more about the art of drawing chaibees!
>>3041630
Is there ever a point when a chibi is too rendered?
I've noticed this a lot from artists and i was wondering why and what should i do?I really like their work and would like to get an update but there are some artists who just complain and would flood your feed with it(you have no idea its bad) and be vague and a bit toxic towards you if you questioned it.
(im not against people venting or ranting and sometimes i ignore or hear them out but if its constant then thats the problem)
Anyone know any nice artists who are chill and just draws?
I don't follow some artists on twitter because they talk a lot of bullshit, so I follow them on tumblr or instagram instead.
If I like an artist but can't stand their personality it does affect how I view their art, but I would probably just check in every month or so and see what they've been up to.
If they follow you and you are afraid to unfollow them, then just do it anyway. You are not going to talk, you are not going to have a miracle moment where they offer you work.
Being too nice is a problem.
>>3037051
If it really bugs you, then you can abandon them. There's millions of other artists out there. You won't miss them and they won't miss you.
>>3037051
Yeah, this is why I don't use social media as a personal blog. My blogs are strictly for art. If I'm having a shit day, I'll just go troll nerds on /v/ anonymously.
I have irl friends whom I can confide in for personal stuff.
I've seen other artists do their whiny self pity rants on twitter and tumblr and shit, and it's genuinely annoying. So I took note of that, and opted to never do shit like that. I don't need pity from strangers, and honestly, it's just not professional at all.
So I got some brushes that I've been wanting for a while. Just tried them out with some red ink to warm up.
Are these interesting at all?

Sycra argues that drawing is the most important skill. As in if your drawing skills are good, learning how to paint is really difficult.
Isn't******
Like he says that he doesn't really paint much these days but because he draws so much, he's painting is still improving.
>>3043709
It's not the same for everyone but generally what he saying is true. Granted, being good at drawing doesn't make you necessarily good at painting but being good at drawing certainly helps in the end when you need to paint. If you consider the underpinning drawing of a painting to be the blueprint of your work then it's easy to see that a more detailed drawing would make the painting much easier to do since there's less guesswork to be done. That isn't to say that a *literally* more detailed drawing is necessary but rather that a drawing that has a lot of *information* is more helpful. Helpful information isn't the same for everyone: sometimes it manifests as what looks like a mess of lines (information regarding flow), sometimes it's distinct outlines of shadows (information regarding light), it doesn't necessarily have to be clean and proper. Regardless of what drawing you put down on the canvas though, it just has to contain information and the better that information is the better your painting will probably be.
>>3043709
it depends what you mean by "drawing". if you mean the underlying form and design of the objects in the painting, then yes, it is by far the most important part. however, some people achieve that without needing detailed line art for everything.
NEW PODCAST: If you have a bizarre fetish/lifestyle, emotional/crazy life experience, or just some secret that people would find shockingly interesting... would you be willing to talk to a complete stranger (me) on the phone about it?
>>3043565
No.
What's your budget?
>>3043565
ill do it. im cool and smart and perfect, and my voice is smooth like butter and sweet like honey, and low fat like celery. and i can sing all of smash mouth all star from memory
did i make the cut?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPTZ8SFYst4
So what did he mean by that?
If his skill level is not enough then how do plebs stand a chance to pursue art and make a living at it?
>>3042878
He is already at a proficient level. It's all a sham to build up something to sell his audience false claims. Literally pulling a Noah Bradley here.
Give a TLDR, nobody got 15 mins to watch some random dude talking
Also, the guys got a really punchable face. Not sure what is it about it but Im getting the urge
How the fuck is this humanely possible ? Everytime I try to sharpen my charcoal pencil it fucking breaks after three cuts IT FUCKING PISSES ME OFF
I just wasted a whole pencil and I have to buy a new one even tho I didn't make one single line of drawing
I want to do charcoal but I can't because I can't sharpen my pencil ! HOW DO YOU DO THAT
Git gud.
What pencil are you trying to sharpen? Some can't be sharpened to a long taper.
>>3038702
a Conté
It would make sense. I'm going to see if I can buy another brand, and also a better blade and sandpaper
>>3038706
What hardness? B, 3B? Are you sure it's the Pierre Niore 1710? Also, some Contes are just faulty. It sucks, but sometimes you get one with harder wood and as you sharpen them, the charcoal just crumbles. They're still the best charcoal pencil I've used, though. I bought a 12 pack and 3 were like that.
I don't know what to do. Every study I do (mostly portraits) seems like a waste time to me after I am done with it. It seems like I just do for training my eyes but even then I am pretty good with that.
I don't know what to do to move on, to improve myself. The funny thing is that I am lacking in many areas, I am just okay with fine arts stuff like measuring, proportions and values. Imagination work? It's trash. But I have to study to make it better. I don't know what to do next so it actually pays off.
>>3043693
maybe do some character creation stuff.
maybe some world building.
start small with logos and guns and then move up to stuff like vehicles and creatures.
I don't know. You got kind of the /ic/ equivalent of a first world problem.
exploit what you have. learn what you don't, i guess.
I'm not feelin' it today anons. Have anything worth sharing?
idk this always inspires me
>>3043585
Is that Gokhan?
https://www.artstation.com/artist/miura-n315
Is it literally the most same face artist ever?
Nice anime tiddies tho
>>3043289
>Is it literally the most same face artist ever?
So, like anime?
Don't be silly, he changes the eye color. /s
So I have a bit of cash and want to buy wall art, but I have no fucking clue what I'm doing buying art.
Most of the stuff I want is only available through those not-bootleg print sites that have grown like weeds, not to mention the flood on ebay of the same.
I have no idea what I should be paying for a good canvas print... or anything higher quality than a poster print of the ~20$ price point. Or a good frame, or whether I even NEED a "good" frame. Etc.
>>3043730
>not drawing your own big ass prints
lol
>>3043731
I just want to know if I should even be considering buying a ~100$ print that's just a 2ft blow up of a hi-res PNG, off of some nondescript art prints site or Ebay.
