Do cintiqs last a long time? I was thinking about buying a cintiq 13 pro as a first time tablet
>>3049354
Yeah mine's still going strong. Though a bit of dust HAS been collecting in the cracks. I probably need some kind of tool to clean it.
>>3049354
I've had a 13 hd for about 4 or 5 years and it's been great no problems what-so-ever I took the plastic screen cover off a while ago so it's glassy smooth which I prefer and it also shows colors better that way.
>>3049375
Put this in the cracks and dust will no longer enter there, same for OP or for anyone who is going to buy one.
I want a sketchbook with paper similar to printer paper. I don't like tooth on my paper. What kind of paper should I search for?
Normally my favorite surface to draw on is vellumed bristol board, but 20 pages of that runs $10. I like a stack of printer paper to draw on but I'd like the convenience of having something lines on a spiral.
>>3049282
I meant to say:
"I'd like the convenience of something bound on a spiral."
Get a stack of printer paper and take it to a print shop to have it bound?
As for sketchbooks with smooth paper, Canson XL Bristol pads are slick and decent considering what they cost. The Hahnemuhle Nostalgie sketchbooks are pretty nice but they're not cheap.
>>3049440
Getting it bound at a print shop is actually really expensive.
The cheapest thing I can find is 100 pages of this printer paper in the spiral bound sketchbooks at MIchaels labeled "Artists Loft". I have been looking forever for something cheaper or for something the same price but with a little bit of tooth like Strathmore.
>Bouguereau is my favorite artist
>I LOVE Disney
>>3044914
Slightly unrelated note.
Wasn't there a story about Miyazaki being drunk and complaining about what's wrong with loving girls?
>Shadman is my favorite artist
>Artist is young
>drawings are dark, graphic and well detailed
>artist becomes old
> art style is more simplified, draws nothing but relaxing and family friendly themes

When people grow old and have kids they kind of stop caring and lose the motivation to try hard any more. Sex is the driving force behind everything we do.

Its already happening with Miura
He hasn't drawn anything overtly edgy or violent in a long ass time.
Berserk is tamer now than its ever been.

Hey guys! Few days ago i had finished editing it, so here it is - my animation movie, which was inspired by many anime ideas and artists.
Im interested in any (constructive) feedback, hope you will enjoy!
>>3049240
I liked it until they starTed fighting, not sure why you paused the music just for an explosion sound effect
No constructive critique because I don't animate
>>3049240
It looks like a weird animation you would find on Adult Swim at 2 in the morning after waking up because you got thirsty.
This actually made me laugh at how bad it was. I couldn't even tell what the fuck was happening for about the 1st half of the video, and the animation quality varies from being actually decent to being hilariously stiff and robotic. Not to mention the meme worthy sound effects that interrupted the dope music. Honestly, if you'd gotten rid of all of the sound effects and just put the full song or even just looped whatever music clip you had of that song it would've made the whole thing 10 times better and not as laughably cringy. I was gettin into the groove until 0:56 where it kinda just kneejerks you outta the experience. Overall decent for a first animation but this is just super amatuerish dude, practice your timing and spacing of your animations and ADD MORE frames. If you also learn and imitate the shot compositon of good anime or movies you could probably become a pro in a year dude, you clearly got the passion for it.
Does anyone here know what this is from, who the artist is, or any similar art?
Thanks

Dude, that's City Hunter.

Tsukasa Hōjō.
Also the author of Cat's Eyes...
Why i have the image inside my mind but i can't draw it on paper?
>>3049049
Because ur gay.
Why do you have dreams but your reality's so shit?
>>3049064
because reality is a matter of luck
I've been thinking about this shit for about 3 years and I'm willing to dedicate a lot of my time on making this a thing. Here is some of the first concepts I have for my character, the web comic is gonna be a visual representation of Internet and what is going on within a small group of internet friends.
Any advice and or ideas for other characters?

Is making art purely enjoyable, or do you also have to force yourself to do it?
seeing the fruits of your labor makes studying enjoyable
>>3044975
Kind of both. It gets more enjoyable the better you get at it but on some level you have to like the actual process enough to put up with it for endless hours and repetitions
>>3044975
It's really enjoyable to polish a piece to the best of your ability, but most of the time coming up with an idea for a piece is the real pain in the ass
Hey d/ic/kheads!
Infamous MikeJinx here, back for a Q&A and some art critiques.
You guys gave me a lot of criticism (some good, some bad) last time and I've been working my ass off this past 2 years in order to get better

This is a simple design. I want to see how you can draw her!
>>3049582
i've seen a porn clip of this, the reporter is cuter tho.
Its all crazy shit stuff make Interesting unknown artist.
I've never been to this board before, but I have a girlfriend that is really into art, and she needs some colored pencils. I have a budget of about $30-$40, so what's the best I could buy her for that price?
Post her work, I bet she needs more Loomis.
>>3048745
I don't have any of her work saved.
>>3048693
Well, I don't know the prices where you live, just buy some good set of 24+, Derwent Coloursoft is a good choice, but they may be above your budget, or Faber Castell. You can buy watercolour pencils too, they can be used like normal pencils.
I'm in the position where I can try freelancing a bit starting in the Fall, and if it doesn't go well, I have a fallback. So I thought I'd try it.
Now specifically what I mean is I'd like to do commissions and start an online store with products I make with my art on them. I already have had a great track record with commissions so even just having that would sustain me for some time.
Still, has anyone done this kind of freelancing before, and do you have any tips? I'm wondering if there was a guide people would recommend, especially about keeping track of finances because that's definitely my weakest point at the moment. Sharing stories about shitty clients/commissioners would be great too, those are always fun.
>I hate you
>I can't afford to buy art from you
>I'm a support of you, Give me free art so I become a support of you
Fucking muggles....
I don't do the online store thing, but I use paypal invoices for commissions. I made a template then just edit with the commission details and send it to people to pay when they confirm their commissions.
>>3048642
Yeah, I do that too. It's very easy and a nice way to keep track of things and make sure paypal doesn't get up your ass about it.
Have you done taxes with paypal yet? If so how did that go?
I was wondering about art contests lately. Are there any interesting contests going on at the moment or do you guys perhaps know of any sites that list such competitions? It's hard to find anything just with google.
>>3047239
As always the Draw with Jazza Challenge of the Month. This Month is Arty T-Shirts and your design will be sold if you place in the top 3.You get to keep 50% of the revenue too.
Otherwise no idea and I'minterested too.
Also, anything with hardware prices would be great. I've been working on the same wacom for over ten years now and I can't afford a new one.
Artstation is hosting challenges all the time wtf
