Why do you draw?
>>3047832
A few years ago I saw a black and white movie about a painter. The hero of the movie is sent by the painter's wife to tell him she refuses to divorce and if possible to take him back to home. He finds the painter living in a small and cold appartment belonging to some prostitute. When the hero asks why he would rather live like this than living a responsible and ordained life, he answers
> You don't understand, I need to paint
The hero goes back to the wife, explains the situation. She tells him
> If there was another wife, I would've never accepted, to make them suffer, but tell him I accept the divorce.
You could ponder the question for a year, but some people don't need a reason.
The two main reasons people draw:
1: To sooth their own anxiety
2: To limit their arousal
If you can find an intermediate point between them, you can be more conscious about what you're doing.

Sunk cost fallacy.
Hi all, I would like some help with this picture. I need someone skilled in Photoshop to place me in a martial arts setting. SERIOUS HELP ONLY!
It could be a cool mountain top, or a forbidden temple or something. Just PLEASE make it look bad-ass. It's for a martial arts blog I'm creating. Thank you in advance! :)

Requests are against the rules here, use /wsr/; even though they hate requests like these
Thoughts on new tat?

You're going to regret it in a couple of years.
It's good, now get back to drawing.

Any opinions on learning via copying other artists? Is it a decent way to practice, or is there a problem with it?
I keep learning fundamentals, and I'm thinking about mostly copying everyday as a practice (gesture and sketches as well), is it a good way to learn well?
I want to hear answers on this too. I hear people say it's the best way to go, but then I see artists with amazing skill who say they never copied anything, they just obsered and drew from imagination later.

Also, as someone who hates doing studies, the latter really appeals to me.
>>3050944
YES EVERYONE DOES MASTER STUDIES
Once you have some knowledge of construction and anatomy, is it possible to just draw from imagination solely and become better?
>>3050502
Ask N*sebro
>>3050502
yes, but it's slow as fuck
you're observing reality all the time
>>3050502
can you even draw from the imagination? wouldn't you keep remembering images and things you've seen and use those for reference?
Feedback on my first 'painting'? I've been looking at it too long.

Looks very decent for a first try.
Practice the details in the ear, and make it a bit smaller. I realize the ears are gauged out but even then the ear is too big.
You should also start focusing on shading/values now since you have some decent grasp of the shapes.
How is the Kindle Fire for drawing? What version should I get and can I get 4G from T-Mobile on it?
Lol no

Bleh well I bought one for reading, it's just 50 bucks anyways. Sketchbook is ok.
lol
Every Asian female artist I personally know tends to draw themselves as more white-looking than they actually are whether they have an anime style or a more Disney cartoon style. Really makes you think.
>>3051160
>Really makes you think.
it does? i think you're spending too much time thinking about asian people, anon
>>3051176
but what if most of the people you know are asian and you yourself are asian? did you ever think about that, faggot?
My father was a man who traveled for work a lot and I've just found this photo of him and a few friends of his. Is there anyone who knows which statue that is so I can get an idea of where he went to. It seems to me like its saint mary and baby jesus? Anyone?

Is there any way to tell what country/city this photo was taken in? That would really narrow it down.
It would also help to know what kind of work your father did..
As far as the statue, if we assume it's Mary, them it's probably a Catholic church or school, but it's not too clear to me if that's a baby she's holding or not..
Um.. does St Georges Catholic church in London, Ontario ring any bells?
>try my hands at sculpting
>spent 40 hours on it
>not even a quarter way through
this shit is too hard

lazyfuck thread?
>tfw despise sticking to any one drawing for more than an hour
what do i do with this pile of vaporous incoherent sketches
>>3049894
This is why I have no idea how to render.
Make armature using armature wire
Bulk with tin foil
Pack on super sculpey
Sculpt
Bake
Profit
The better your armature the easier it will all be.
This is your model for today

Someone already beat you to it, no point in continuing on everyone go home.

>try to draw
>10 minutes in mind starts insisting I play vidya or browse 4chan
>can never achieve the "flow" i've heard so much about
anyone know what it's like? apparently accessing flow means you can sit there for hours focused on your work, what's the trick?
By having some self control / discipline.
You just ignore whatever your mind is screaming at you and do the work.
Sounds simple but obviously the reality is very difficult.
Waitress? Bar tender? Are there any lax jobs where you can draw?
