Any advices or ressources on how to draw better environments? Maciej Kuciara course is great but is more of a checklist rather than a study guide.
How would you guys approach a study program to get better at env sketching/design?
Thanks!
>>3056067
Environments are the same as anything else. How to get better? Study them, draw and paint them. Pay attention to what you're doing. The image you linked is a simple landscape, like any fine artist would paint, with fantasy elements added. Study landscapes, lighting, and color. Color, and getting the values is crucial for anything realistic.
This isn't something you'll learn in a week, if you start now, you may start producing solid work in a couple of months, with hard work and some talent.
Honestly, this is unacceptable levels of hand holding, which is too common for this forum. If you can't even get past figuring out simple concepts like this, then you'll never progress as an artist.
>>3056094
Hey OP here, thnx for the answer!
But Again you only answered in checklists, which is a great thing and trust me I-m aware of the basics.
What I'm really interested in seeing is what sort of study program do you guys make for yourselves for those who are into env design.
Not a tutorial list but what do you study and how much of it (how many copies/virtual plein air, architecture design...)
Just looking for more SPECIFICS from people who spent more time figuring it out than I did.
How do you personally approach it from a the standpoint of someone who actually practices environments.
anyway thank you for getting down from your high horse to hold my hand bruh! :P

I think you're misunderstanding the point of his post. Almost nobody is lucky enough to have everything laid out in front of them (unless you pay for school or are friends with a good artist/some industry pro). I can tell you're asking for a regimen in a thin-veiled fashion; It sounds like you want something in such specifics that you're losing focus on the big picture: just fucking draw
Have you actually -done- any environments or environment studies at all? I'd love to see them.
Is there a program or app that is really good for making detailed schedules or agendas? For keeping track of everything I have to do for the next week and for making the most out of my time to get the most art gains?
Something on my phone would be preferable, but something to use on my computer would be really nice too.

I use onenote. It's like a virtual whiteboard but you can paste pictures, audio, links, write notes, charts--it does it all. I even paste my influence map and stuffs in it. Whenever I come across helpful advice there is a screen snippet tool that captures things. It's my best friend really.
You could also try the Pomodoro method. You just have to keep track of your Pomodoros.
Steps:
1) Decide on the task.
2) Set your timer to 25 mins.
3) Work on the task until the timer goes off.
4) After the timer rings keep track of how many pomodoros you've done (the intervals are called pomodoros).
5) Repeat Steps 2-4 until you've done 4 pomodoros.
6) Take a longer break (30 mins), and go back to step 1.
The advantage to this is that you don't feel defeated if you don't get your to-do list done. The whole point is to put time in, rather than be "done" with your studies anyways, right? Plus pomodoros are simple to keep track of.
hehe i drew the pic in OP's post.
Are there detailed figurines like these, except with proper muscles, tendons etc. ?
Or perhaps any of you have these and would recommend them?
>>3054479
I was looking for a figurine with skin like this
>>3054483
they're not posable though http://www.anatomytools.com/male-figures-c6.php
>>3054479
Nah
Toys haven't gotten to that level of accuracy yet
Those are about as good as you're gonna get for a decent price if you want something that's posable
IF YOU ARE A /BEG/INNER IN ART, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice. We should not have to make new threads or post in the Drawthread with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make someone proud.
RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:
#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead
#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller

TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

Here are the rules:
>1. Draw one or many characters interacting in a streetview location given by the poster above you.
>2. Post another streetview location
>3. Next poster will have to draw his characters in your streetview
And so on

Mixed reality is where it's at. Life size real models with rendered lighting and virtual lamps in your home. Portable life drawing. You can get as close up to Veronica's pussy as you want and feel know shame!

That's a very cool idea, I could totally see it being an app. It would actually not be that difficult to do.
Tilt Brush is a cool toy, but I think Blocks (http://store.steampowered.com/app/533970/Blocks_by_Google/) is closer to a useable tool
I could quickly do a rough blocking in with this and import it to something like blender or zbrush for refinement
Picrelated is something I made. It's shit but you get the idea. It was cool laying on back on the floor and bolt greebles to the underside of the ship like some motherfucking space mechanic.
The future of digital art creation is going to be wild
Any d/ic/ks stream on twitch? I feel like we could get a decent community going and learn together faster
bump, I'm interested too.
Twitch, huh?

You guys should consider Picarto too
after some time i manage to gather the money for a cintiq 22hd / pro 16 or a new monitor (24 inch) + intuos pro large, independent of desk space.
looking at reviews, only one guy actually explains why not buy the pro 16 for now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1rgLXf-BiI&t=1s
then there is the lower color accuracy of the 22HD but miles better ergonomics with the stand. adobe rgb its just a meme or a real necesity for painting? is 1080p and lower pixel density a draw back in comparison?
on the other side there is the option of the intuos pro, but i cant find an answer about the relation between screen size and the tablet size (S,M,L). most reviews tell about medium been better option but i only see plebs that dont draw from the shoulder and complain about the size, is really a problem for painting?.
cintiq or monitor + intuos combo, what is best for the neck posture while sitting? consider that huion its out of my reach btw.
Here's the chart for guidance on sizes, i bought M. I took neck posture into account as well and would rather have my hand sitting on the tablet while my eyes viewing directly at a monitor, had I picked the cintiq I would've had to take more breaks to give my neck some rest.
>>3053114
OP here, thanks for the quick reply.
any other things to consider on your experience?
is there a difference on line length input despite surface on the tablet. i mean for ex: a 2 inch line on the medium it a 5 inch line on the large with equivalent screen size and canvas magnification? or is it just more space for longer lines on the larger tablet, they both have the same pressure sensitivity and lpi resolution.

I've been meaning to buy an intuos medium or a cintiq13pro, hopefully we get some insight so I can finally make my decision as well
I have started drawing roughly a month ago, albeit mostly geometric shapes (fundies), and I would regularly draw for two hours a day without a problem.
I've been slowed down by my right hand hurting, which then I stopped giving my pen a death grip and taking breaks every half hour with hand stretches. It's gotten a lot better, but I'm dealing with my right hand feeling weaker, and a bit shaky. It's not too bad, but I recall being able to hold things, say, my phone, perfectly still. Now I notice it wiggles a bit.
It's odd, as I try to keep my wrist from moving while not straining it. The shakiness/weakness takes a slight toll on my drawings.
Is this normal? Am I simply over-exerting my hand? I just got a hand grip exerciser, hoping that it'll help. What else can I do about this?
>>3056054
stop fapping you degenerate
>>3056054
do these stretches every hour:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUyMNyrOHJQ
take breaks
get grip extenders (pic related)
correct your posture
use heat/ice where it hurts
>>3056054
Try less shaky

Hey, guys,
I've got a question, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask but here goes:
I have carved out a mask for a solid piece of wood. I'm very proud of it.
It's from a very light type of wood but I don't want to just give it any finish, I want to give it a satin cherry finish like on a Gibson guitar (pic related)
>wat do?
>do I stain, do i paint, do i finish with something specific?
>>>diy
>>3055821
SGs were typically pore-sealed with a special brownish red sealer, for the mahogany, then used nitrocellulose based clear coats, then a nitro-based cherry coat, then a clear coat.
Going from a light wood to a mahogany will take some work, and might not ever get that rich look. I'd practice on scraps of wood starting with a mahogany stain, then a clear coat, then a transparent cherry. If you don't have a spray gun, this layer with be very difficult, and will need a ton of sanding. Then a clear coat.
If you've never done furniture finishes...good luck. This is probably not a project to learn on.
Are there like no torrents of this shit anywhere?
Alright, so, I'm trying to help out my friends by drawing graffiti art for the background of an expansion to a game they're making, and I made this (pic related) in Paint.net. I'll post another pic of something that's being used in the background already. I intend on making more stuff for them similar to this and would like feedback on how I can make my drawings look better.
Here's something already being used in the game

lizard sucks but bird(?) is pretty neat, try making more like that
Who is more valuable for the general populus?
Master musician or master painter?
Who is higher in hierarchy? What is the highest form of art?
>>3054699
music. Look what it's done to niggers and culture. Music is way more influential.
Personally i always found that art and music were two sides of the same coin. Why would music be better than art? And why would art be better than music? I doubt there is an objective answer to these. They compliment each other very well anyhow
art fucking sucks
