If you were given a task to become a professional artist in 2 years or else you would die, (assuming you want to live) how would you do it? What's the plan?

> become a professional artist in 2 years or die

If I had to get gud fast... and this question is asked several times a week on this board... and not in the Questions General thread, of course not... how would I do it?

You should contact your local Mortuary services in advance. Or ask in the Questions General thread. Your choice.

I'm afraid to start drawing because I know it'll take at least ten years before I even begin to be good at art, and by that time I'll be in my mid thirties. Will my interests have changed by then? Will I even be drawing for the same reason I started? Does anyone else have these worries?

I do that with everything I pick up. "By the time I get good I'll be [insert age]"

But that time comes whether or not you start, and if you don't start you'll end up thinking "damn, I'm not that old, i should have started."

Like me 5 years ago with drawing. If I hadn't given up i'd be gud right now. Now it'll take me an extra few years.
>>
>>3058976

Yeah, not sure about you but I keep trying to excuse myself away like you did and my hobbies never changed, I just added more.

I absolutely hate myself for having wasted time, if I were you I would just do it.
>>
Well I'm at the point where I am in my middle thirties, and I can say that my interests haven't actually changed all that much. But if your interests do change I would say not to worry, as you will just find other things to draw.

The top one is two guns put together and custom 15 round clip made by worker campany. Rmovable barrel stock, cos fuel tank and knife. the pistol was a two barrel but I modded the first barrel and removed the bottom one. Then sealed the hole with apoxy and cosmetics, so I sacrificed capacity for power mod and focused airflow mod but it only added about 10 feet of range. The third one is just cosmetics, non removable barrel.

I noticed that animators generally don't have trouble coming up with dynamic poses from imagination in comparison to illustrators, concept artists, comic book artists etc. Perhaps, it has to do with the fact that since they are constantly rotating their subject matter, they have to think in 3D.

If you watch the "Making Of" videos for LWA Yoshinari shits all over his animators for making poses and movements that aren't fluid enough though.
>>
>>3060202
good observation op
i don't think you have to animate, but think about how to apply that principle to your practice.
personally, i find it helpful to do figure drawings with a video as a reference. i pause at different times and draw the pose, and observe how it moves from one position to another.
i like doing that compared to drawing a bunch of totally different poses

Does anyone recognize whom'sts art this is? It's nothing incredibly special but for what it is it ain't bad either; I wouldn't be averse to scoping out more of the artist's work. I bought it at anime detour in minnesota in a silent auction for like $15. I'm probably going to throw this print away for lack of space for it in my life right now but it would be nice to know who might have done it if anyone's familiar. Thanks in advance

Hope this is right board for something like this, if not, mods have mercy on my soul
My first Huion H610 arrived last night and I'm loving screwing around with it, but I want to know some really good drawing/animating programs. Especially animating, I wanna try that out. Just doing this for fun, so I'm not looking to spend too much.
any recommendations? To keep it /ic/ related, judge my pen-test pic related

ms paint if you know how to use it
more professionally for drawing/animating:
- photoshop is great
- I mostly use clip paint studio pro which is pretty cheap, you can animate with that but it's super limited and way better for just drawing
- opentoonz is free animation software
- firealpaca is free but I personally wasn't fond of it. worth trying out though. you can apparently make GIF animations in that too but I haven't tried it
>>
>>3060960
Rad, man, thanks! Ill check out opentoonz first. I'm not that good yet, but practice makes decent, yeah?
>>
>>3060969
opentoonz is probably the best animation program i've worked with, but I have VERY little experience in animation so there are a lot of people who could give better examples and reviews than i can lol
Good luck with finding a good program you like!
Medibang paint is another free program for drawing. I've never tried it on computer but they also have a mobile app that I used and liked.

Hey guys what is the best cheap acrylic and oil paint that is easy to find?

What makes a paint good? How much should it cost? What qualities should i compromise on? What is the cheapest easiest painting surface.

I am currently using using Winsor and Newton acrylic paint (as their oils are ungodly expensive) and Georgian oils because they are like $4-8 per 75ml tube. The Winsor and Newton arcylics are great, but they cost a ton. The Georgian oils are pretty crappy. They separate from the oil (which isnt a huge problem for me as i normally sand over and reuse old boards for painting), but the colors are less than ideal.

I know we are mostly digital here but fucking help me Senpai.

Im getting into painting myself, still in my first tubes of windsor and newton myself. I like thick oils and paint wet on wet, and these slightly more expensive paints feel so much better than the cheap thinner oils I got to start.
>>
>>3059662
Cheapest? go to blick.com and find them.

You answered your own questions. Cheap paint will have bad color, will separate, and will be hard to work with.

You don't need 75ml tubes unless you're doing huge canvases, and wasting paint. The small tubes are fine for traditional techniques on smaller boards, like 8x10. Cost? Depends on the brand and the pigments - ultramarine, the real stuff, will always be expensive because they have to crush a gemstone, lapis lazuli, to make it. Cheapest painting surface? Cardboard, with gesso. If you're scraping canvases, then who cares? Use cardboard. As long as it's flat, and on gesso, it's all the same. You're not keeping the paintings anyway. Another source is going to Goodwill and junk shops, and buying shitty framed are, and gessoing over them. You even get a frame with it.
If you're learning to paint, you don't need more than this:
http://www.dickblick.com/items/00418-1129/
Again, you don't need 75ml tubes, for traditional painting, except maybe white, and that should last you years. You should be using more than a dime sized blob of paint at a time, for a average sized panel, like 8x10, and you only need a handful of colors, and be learning to mix the rest with them. Larger tubes like 75ml last me years, in oils.

Art supply shop worker here.

For Oil I'd recommend either Gamblin 1980 or Winsor Newton Winton. They're both student lines but as far as student paints go they're pretty high quality. I know alot of professionals use them for underpainting or just use them if they're cheap bastards.

For acrylic I'd say try Amsterdam. Again, they're student grade but they're not awful and they make a ton of colors so you don't have to do a lot of mixing which isn't good on lower end paints.

For surface, Burch panels with gesso are sturdy and cheap but can warp. Fredrix makes a line of canvas sheet pads that are pretty nice.

Don't use Georgian, don't use anything Sargent, and don't use Daler Rowney system 3.

Also avoid shopping at Dick Blick if you can. They're a garbage company with a shit head CEO and literally every other art supply company hates them. They're on Walmart level.

i have question /ic/

How important is knowing skeletal anatomy, being able to draw an accurate representation of the pelvis and the ribcage, not just a simplification.

Also the limbs and the skull, should learn to draw them?

And if so, what are some good recourses that teach you that, cause a lot of the art books only teach superficial muscle anatomy.

Also, how can you use the integrate the human skeleton into the 8 head model.

Also share some good recourses for learning fundamentals if you have some.

Use 3D models (like design doll) and trace over them. In the modern age, there's no need to learn the fundamentals when you have increasingly advanced technology at your disposal.
