I bought a cintiq pro, but my computer doesn't have a display port, only an HDMI and that apparently doesn't work so there's no other way of connecting this correctly should I just return it
You mean like the cintiq needs a vga port? You can get a hdmi to vga adapter for like 3 bucks, so I would try that.
>>3065219
I'm pretty new to this, but to connect the cintiq, you need either a usb-c without adapter, or a minidisplayport with the adapter on your computer. My computer only has an hdmi port, but apparently people have tried to connect their cintiqs with an hdmi-mini display but the screen wouldn't show up. There are ways to connect using minidisplay and display but my computer doesn't have that.
>>3065226
Ah I see, I don't know much about the cintiq so I was pretty much guessing. If your computer doesn't have the options to use what you need to display it, then I would return it. You can try and see if any of the other display tablets will work with your pc.

I like his choice of colour palette.
As far as composition, I think there might be too much empty space. This can be made more interesting by adding other things.

Hi. I am here to request help for the search of a video, that I've failed myself to find in many attempts for over several years. I dont know if its a famous video; To find it would not be as problematic if the case was so - I will give brief information since my memory of it is short, but providing as many details as possible.
The video contains several artistic sceneries, which play in different scenarios throughout the video. It involves art such as dancing, dressing and expressing abstraction with roles. The main language is english, with a scottish accent to be more specific, I think.
One scene, if I do recall correct; it being the first part of the video with men dressed as clowns dancing on a bridge. It's a sunny evening and they stand in boxes (?) with their heads above, singing. As their singing continues they pop out of the boxes and start to dance. (not sure how I could explain this scene more clearly, but apologies for the short description)
One scene that I recall most clear, since I personally found it the most relatable, plays out in a club where a man is dancing & figuring out ways to express himself whilst one of the clubbs guards is holds him by his shoulder. There isn't too much to this scene more than this.
A woman dancing with Hula Hoops, is part of a scene. I do not remember too many details about this scene, although, I think that she dances with a man after a short period of time as well.
There are many more scenes in the video but I do not remmeber them all too clear. I remember that one of the artists, who also plays several roles throughout the video doesn't have legs. In one scene a man with a camera follows this man who lack legs, as if he was an animal, filming him.
I hope the information that's given is enough for someone to recall and help me in my search.
Many thanks,
A woman dancing iwth Hula Hoops, is part of a scenery where she use them to dance.
"A woman dancing iwth Hula Hoops, is part of a scenery where she use them to dance." wops, my fault
>Illustration isn't art

Why are fine arts twats such massive cunts? Especially when the technical skills of a professional illustrator, comic artist, animator, etc... is almost always much higher than that of a fine arts twat?
I think most "art" people agree illustration is art. I think there's a bias towards types of art, anime being one of them. Of course its bs
>>3066137
>Goes to school for fine arts
>Complains when they want him to try to produce fine art
Really makes you think.
It didn't sound like they were criticizing his technical skills, he just didn't do what they told him to do and they gave him a bad grade. Just because they're pompous cunts doesn't mean that they're not in the right in this instance.
>>3066137
It's merely a question of semantics. I knew an illustrator and the dude insisted that he wasn't an artist (from what I understood, his reasoning was that he delivered what people wanted, akin to a ghost writer). There's been numerous cultures which used different words for artists or never made the distinction between ars and tekne. Call yourself a musician and tell them that it's a divine gift and that the four evangelists are whispering in your ligameme.
anyone know good tutorials on how to draw hair?
study ur loomis forms perspective fundamentals lmao

study leyendecker
the way he stylizes and simplifies hair is helpful to understand how to draw it. look at it like ribbons or fabric.
also study sculpture
helps understand the volume and shape of hair

I'm way better at sculpting than I am at drawing or painting and I was wondering if maybe real life sculpting using super sculpey or something is used as concept art or some shit for making video games? Or maybe even just making animation. I tried googling this a bunch of times and I couldn't really find any info. Basically, can I make any money from sculpting besides selling sculptures?
Not really but you can use ZBrush to sculpt digitally
It's different from 3d modeling
>>3065724
I don't think there's much value in real life sculpting for concept art. Games are ultimately supposed to be played on your computer so it makes no sense to not make the models in a 3d modeling program.
Concept artists used to roughly sculpt their designs IRL to see how light works on them. But again, with the coming of 3D modeling software which makes the process more efficient I think that died down
I suppose it can still be used for stop motion animation.
You might want to try out Zbrush, it's kind of the photoshop of sculpting.
they used clay models for doom :]
srsly its pretty easy to learn sculpting on the computer if you already can sculpt.
give sculptgl a whirl
>forced myself to work at least 2 hours per day for the past two weeks
>went from doing nothing for months on end to literally feeling physically uncomfortable if i dont at least do week every day now
wtf it works bros
Don't break this pattern! I used to be like that too and life circumstances led to me dropping art for awhile and I'm struggling to get myself back into it.
Welcome to the ascension.
could it really be so simple?
Should I get a sketchbook? I've been drawing for a while now, but sometimes I draw things I'd rather never see again and I fear wanting to rip pages when the drawings don't achieve what I'm aiming for.
Is there a difference from just buying a normal notebook and drawing shit, then ripping pages you don't like? Sketchbooks here are fairly expensive...
I also read something about filling at least one sketchbook per month. How many pages are we talking about?
Also to finish what should you draw on a sketchbook? Could you draw like annotations from a tutorial or is it only for finished drawings?
Thanks.
>>3063763
>I also read something about filling at least one sketchbook per month. How many pages are we talking about?
200
If you're remotely serious about developing your skills then I would say a sketchbook is mandatory. Don't rip the pages out, keep your shitty drawings as you'll need them when you become more advanced. If you ever feel like you suck at drawing, assuming you've been diligent in your studies, you can always look back and see how much you've improved.
Or it can serve as a wake-up call to work harder. Don't over-think it, put all types of drawings in there from quick sketches to finished illustrations if you want.
Hope this helps.
>>3063770
Thanks for your input, guess I'll do that.
Could it be a normal notebook with blank pages or does it have to be one of these more expensive ones?
Anyone own one of the Body-Chan models that Bandai put out? There's clearly a second joint in the knee but I can't seem to get it to loose itself. I haven't seen any references where this joint moves either. Did they include a non-functional joint? The male version works fine it seems. Obviously I don't need the pose to be identical to the product and I could just live with it, but damn I wish this fucking thing would move.
I have other figuarts figures and some of them have this same double joint.
It has full range on this on but I think on yours it's a little too high up.
>>3064737
I was just going to buy one of those. Is Amiami a good place to order from?
Heat it up (hair dryer, hot water) then carefully move it.
Make sure it's not a bootleg too
>>3064833
yes
Work hard on improving this week, /ic/! And remember--you're going to make it!
I know it

is that your? you're making it!
