Art things /ic/ never taught you.
>Even if it's shit, it's good to make finished, fully rendered pieces. If all you ever do is sketch figures, you'll only be good at sketching figure. So it's good to not put off rendering until you're "better." Now is always better than later.
>>3081872
What if I don't want to render you fucking faggot. What If I just want to make cool drawings like my boi KJG. Why do all you faggots on here trash people because they aren't interested in painting?
>>3081888
Also, people on /ic/ always recommend you to finish your work. Lurk more.
>>3081888
You know rendering isn't necessarily painting, right?
Any advice on fighting distractions and developing a good creative routine?
I imagine a few of you are addicted to this website, for example. How do you manage to still draw so much?
Deactivate your social media accounts and lock yourself up in a boring room with just your tools and reference pictures, and whatever else you need to make art. Once you get into the flow and habit of making art, you won't get distracted as much. Making a schedule with goals the night before or the morning of your day is really helpful as well.

He was nuts.
I am not good at drawing backgrounds. Any tips?
>>3084334
>Post a shit drawing
>Say something that isn't there is bad
Is this a new meme?
>>3084342

i like so totally CANT deal with this kind of bigotry right now
>>3084342
You must be over 18 to post here.
>Live in D.C in a ground level townhouse do oil painting because a art school dropout gave me all his supplies/paints.
> Painting the backgrounds on three canvasses, leave them outside on my door to dry overnight and also because I don't like the odor of the oil paint in my house when I sleep.
>Wake up to find the wet unfinished paintings stolen.
What level of niggery does it take for someone to steal a WET UNFINISHED canvass? I mean its was literally a blue background!
>>3084050
Maybe they confused it for an expensive piece of modern art
>>3084076
Or maybe the trash collectors thought it was trash.
Because your work probably was trash anyway
>>3084050
>Unfinished art stolen
if it is stolen, then it is officialy finnished.
>tfw a beginner and I cant or want to do anything other than art
>on top of that be poor as fuck
Who got it worse here?
Time to start hiding those pathetic threads. All of you crybabies need to move to /soc/, /r9k/ or /adv/. Enough with this bullshit
That's including all those sad fucks that make fun of other artists on Deviantart. If only you drew instead of complaining all day you could've gotten somewhere. You deserve your misery.
>>3083950
But I draw, I just took a break.
>>3083950
I agree with everything except the deviant Art thing, I still have an account on that site from 2011 and honestly there is just to much garbage to quickly add "don't make fun of deviantArt" at the end of your statement, there is some down right degenerateArt on that site and I'll be damned if I cant make fun of it, within reason of course. I'm not saying that all deviantArt subs are terrible infact some of it is absolutely amazing. I guess what I'm saying is that the topic of deviantArt being made fun of is still out in the open.
With that being said I totally agree that these crybabies need to get the fuck out.
I don't need a job right now, but I feel like shit because I don't have one. What entry level jobs accommodate art study? I was thinking a graveyard shift nightguard, but are there any others? Please, post your own experiences and opinions!
>>3083816
Graveyard shift most things. Anything work at home if you can. I write federal government tender (lol) for an employment services company and I have a lot of free time. Doesn't sound like entry level but I got picked up by the company right out of HS. Craze is kinda over but I convinced my disabled mother to flip fidget spinners from asian wholesale sites on facebook. Low effort work for some okay reward. Delivering newspapers and catelogues (at least around my area) is a pretty chill job and gets you outdoors so there's a lot of opportunity for some side cash and drawing there. Babysitting too, a lot of kids like drawing and are happy to do it with you. Petsitting also if you live in an area that can support it.
Less ideal but jobs with low hours in general might also work if you're desperate. My brother is a cleaner and he only works like 10 hours a week. Lots of retail outlets take casuals but they generally lean toward giving more work to adults so the short easy shifts can go to kids.
Ask around anon, there's lots of jobs that don't get advertised that might work for you. Alternatively you could get into volunteering - no money but it gives you something to do and potentially some networking and references for your resume if you need them.
>>3083853
Where would you look to find these jobs? Newspaper? On craigslist? Or do you basically just have to scour and ask around town until you get a lead?
>>3084034
Got mine from going to one of those resume review/interview training things that are aimed at the unemployed. The guy running it loooked at mine and asked me if I was interested in the opportunity (yes pls $30+/hr entry level). Did an unpaid test write and then I was in.
Newspaper and craigslist are fine (I think? I'm australian. Craigslist here is for drugs). Family and friends are good. If you feel comfortable walking into a store and asking for a manager to speak with to hand your resume that's great too. It sounds stupid and braggy to say but honesty all the best things that have happen to me have sorta just happened - I was in the right place at the right time. I volunteer teaching non-english background kids basic literacy and numeracy and one of the tutors there offered me paid work. I think it's really about knowing the right people anon, because most people apply online and it's really hard to get noticed like that.
Looks like something by Brad Rigney.
Cryptcrawler is beyond skilled. Probably had a few different smaller refs open as guidance, but essentially created this fresh.
Musician - rich
Writer - rich
Artist - broke
Why?
Well majority of musicians and writers aren't rich.

All jokes aside, why does the majority of Tumblr artists draw the same style and that God forsaken nose?
Do they just all copy off eachother?
>>3081931
something something diversity something something aesthetic
>>3081931
because tumblr artists are all a single organism not individual people ... like mushrooms or some shit
>>3081931
Because they are fat, Sjw's that share a brain with the Tumblr network Jew.
Tell me what you think
I think you should have posted in the Alt Style thread rather than making an entire thread for yourself.
rate my anime style
>>3081840
I think that picture is cute, but I can't tell shit from your style if you only post one image.
>>3081840
p.cute, legs are weirdly long.
>>3081840
this is the sort of thing i get jealous of, not because i want to draw stupid anime sluts but because the style seems so easy and total, it's graceful, which enrages me because i can't be stylish
What do you guys think of lavender town? I wanted to know if you think her advice is good or not, I think it's alright sometimes. But i'm curious on your thoughts.
Who? What advice?
>>3081532
She's a artist that graduated from art school and gives out advice for beginners in art on youtube. She's pretty alright i think
>>3081537
Are you her? Will you date me?

We knew illustrators get shit pay. Also entry level ones earn less than a McDonald employee, that's what you get after all those years of learning.
what part?
t. arch grad
>>3080449
technical drawing actually can get you a well paying job, unlike figure drawing.
How do I reconcile the two?
Lately I've noticed that I've become far more invested in video games than in any other hobby. And not just playing them. I listen to video game podcasts, most of my youtube subcriptions are video game related and of course I purchase and play a lot of games.
I've noticed at least and entire year go by without me making any meaninful improvements to my art. It's most certainly due to my increased interest in gaming. I feel bad that I've wasted probably multiple years of progress putting time into listening to people talk about, reading stupid news about, and playing a lot of games.
Any avid gamers here? How do I effectively drop gaming as my primary hobby and focus on art (without dropping gaming entirely).
Hell I just bought a PS4 and had planned to buy a Switch in a few months without realizing that I could have saved for a new drawing tablet/better computer for art.
>>3080243
Side note.
Are there any good digital artists with youtube channels/twitch streams worth watching? Twitters to follow?
Or some art related podcast?
I feel like I've lost so much time to games because there's so much content and people willing to talk about them/gaming news. If I get more random art content in my newsfeed I'll hopefully be more motivated to keep practicing.
>>3080243
I pretty much gave up gaming, my social life, and dedicate every day to drawing or drawing related stuff. desu I can't even stick to gaming now, every time I try to play something I feel disgusted and think "I could be using these precious hours to make art gains instead"
>>3080254
Fuck, that's exactly what I didn't want to hear. The missing years is starting to hit my chest.
Now that I think about it, I do have a few tumblr's followed of people who play Overwatch a lot or FFXIV and still manage the time to make art gainz.
I bet those are the ONLY games those people play though.
