Why are these people not part of Mongolia? They are literally Mongolian.
>>
>>595811
Russkies quietly annexed them while WW2 was still going on.
>>
There's a documentary called Tuva - Independent People that explains what happens there.
>>
>>595811
Russia didn't want Mongolia to have a monopoly on throat singing
>>
>>595811
How do the russians control all this remote as fuck territory?
>>
>>595867

Transiberian railway.
>>
>>595867
They don't. However, nobody else wants it.
>>
>>595914
>nobody else wants it.
China wants it and will probably get it.
>>
>>595862
kek
>>
>>595951
Explain how. Russian military is solid and I don't think the Russian government is going to hand over territory to China just because.
>>
>>595811
No they aren't, they're Turkic.
If you want to talk about Mongols in Russia, look east of Tuva, at Buryatia.

I'm sure China wouldn't mind some more underdeveloped buffer states between it and its powerful neighbor like they have in the south with Nepal and Bhutan between them and India.

People overstate separatism in Siberia, but I think the southern border republics like Tuva, and maybe Altai if the demographic trends continue indefinitely will one day ask for true autonomous status, if not complete independence. Buryatia will never be independent though because of water resources, and it is overwhelmingly ethnic Russia now.
>>
>>596031
They're republics, rather than oblasts, meaning they already have autonomy.
>>
>>596038
Sure they do

Yes, they do

>The level of actual autonomy granted to such political units varies but is generally quite extensive. The parliamentary assemblies of such republics have often enacted laws which are at odds with the federal constitution. The republics' executives tend to be very powerful. However, this autonomy was lessened considerably under Russian President Vladimir Putin, who sought to impose the supremacy of the federal constitution.[citation needed]

>The establishment of eight large "federal districts" above the regions and republics of Russia, with presidentially appointed governors overseeing the republics' activities, has strengthened federal control, and respect for federal supremacy in the republics. In addition, Putin strengthened the position of the republics' legislatures, while weakening their executives' power. The executive heads of republics are now appointed by the President of Russia himself. The President's nomination must be accepted by the republic's parliament.[3]

>The executive heads of republics are now appointed by the President of Russia himself.
>The executive heads of republics are now appointed by the President of Russia himself.
>The executive heads of republics are now appointed by the President of Russia himself.

Are you trying to prove yourself wrong?
>>
>>596031
Well, they already have Mongolia. I think the chances of those republics becoming Chinese or in the Chinese sphere of influence are not very likely as long as the Russians care for that territory or their military becomes weak enough.

Provided as well, neither Russia nor China would have an armed conflict over that territory alone.
>>
>>596064
Putin appoints them but he then gives them pretty good autonomy as long as the leader stays loyal to him. See kadyrov in Chechnya

So they're autonomous so long as they stay loyal to the Kremlin's desires? Doesn't sound too autonomous to me, friendo.

Holy shit that's sick as hell. Free Tuva!
>>

They can use repression methods that'd make putin blush
