Is it morally wrong to cause a fictional person to suffer? If you create a world and people of fiction is it immoral to make them suffer even though they only exist in the minds of you and your audience and not the physical world?

They're not real. That said, it would be amusing if every time you imagined something, it in some sense became real, since things like typing "imagine someone suffering" would mean that you made people imagine someone suffering, and now you're responsible for thousands of people suffering.
