What is the correct translation of the word "arsenokoitai" used in 1 Corinthians 6 and 1 Timothy 1?
In the last couple of hundred years this has often been translated as "homosexuals" for bigotted cultural reasons.
However it is a word that appears to have been initially made up by Paul that is not used in many other ancient sources and does not have a clear meaning.
It clearly cannot mean "homosexuals" in general as it is referring to men and therefore cannot be referring to lesbians.
It has been translated previously as masturbators and other possible translations are pimps, male prostitutes, male of male rapists or paedophile.
The latter would certainly make sense as the Greeks did not define people as homosexual or heterosexual as we do today but certainly pedastry and the rape of boy slaves was widespread.

Check again.
Romans 1:26-27
"...This is why God has given them up to degrading passions; so that their women exchange natural sexual relations for unnatural; and likewise the men, giving up natural relations with the opposite sex, burn with passion for one another, men committing shameful acts with other men and receiving in their own persons the penalty appropriate to their perversion."
Now, logically speaking...what sexual action involves two some chromosomal couples?
Oxford dictionary's, Homosexuality:
Syllabification: ho·mo·sex·u·al·i·ty
Pronunciation: /ˌhōməˌsekSHəˈwalədē/
"Sexual attraction to people of one’s own sex."

That has nothing to do with the meaning of "arsenokoitai". It is not used in Romans 1:26-27
Lol. The historical use of homosexuality in society to fulfill a political agenda to weaken men and weaken infrastructure and start a new agenda. They said that greeks so feared this that they practiced a kind of homosexuality so as not to weaken them and increase the bond. Because many societies did this to others to completely annihalate the men.
In egypt it may had played a little different. Women with women. However these lesbians would fall in love with very macho foreign men that would completely dominate them.

I'm thinking it's "arsen" meaning male, and the root of the word "coitus" in Latin, which was originally Greek.
So it does mean male intercourse, basically.

They're the people mentioned in Leviticus 18:22. The term arsenokoitai stems precisely from this commandment.

But it's a description of homosexuality.

And it says homosexuality is caused by God.

>God has given them up to degrading passions
>given them up
the whole passage saying that He lets them indolence passion, but he doesn't endorse it.
Maybe, it'll help if we read the verse before.
"They have exchanged the truth of God for falsehood, by worshiping and serving created things, rather than the Creator..."
