"Socrates was the buffoon who got himself taken seriously"
"Nietzsche thought that the word idiot best described Jesus. According to Walter Kaufmann, he might have been referring to the naïve protagonist of Dostoyevsky's bool"
The only correct thing stated
the anglo man is the classic example of the untermensch
Übermensch are alphas
slaves are betas
if you understand this, then you know everything
From petty criminal to master of half the world.
At least read the damn books. There's multiple chapters dedicated to this in twilight of the idols. Socrates was the one that got the ball rolling towards the 'death of the real world'. Nietzsche believes Socrates really did corrupt the youth with degenerate philosophy.
It's both really. You need to understand that humanity is only a collective of indivualis. The way evolution (and I use this word metaphorically) works is that the transition is slow. When humans transitioned from monkies there were once many many monkies and only a few humans living among them, but these were not fully human they were still part monkey.
So there will be a few humans that excele so much that they stand alone as Ubermench among normal humans. However this is very rare, less than one a century. The total arrival of the complete Ubermench is a gradual struggle that all humans are taking upon themself. Some of us will be more ahead than others. For the individual it's not important that you become a total Ubermench (it's most likely impossible) but it's something you strive for and get as close as you can within your life.
One way to interpret Nietzsche's skepticism on free will is by thinking what droves Nietzsche to such a stance. Nietzsche was a petite bourgeoisie in a historical period that it was very difficult for a petite bourgeoisie to accumulate further wealth and raise his social status. It was the rise of the industry era, the power of the accumulated wealth was already visible, and big wealth was in a position to limit the mobility and the prospects of other classes. His own life was filled with accidents and poor health, so by his perspective, the notion of free will, that naturally arises from a period of history in which the middle class was able by using hardiness, luck and belief in oneself to sustain or develop their social status, has become an empty concept. With the same method you can understand the problem of the cause and effect. Now, effects seemed uncorrelated to the causes, no reasonable selection of causes could create the necessary effects i.e. the social sustaining and growth. "Now" the traditional methods of social rise were obsolete, "a human could no longer satisfy the requirements". It would require a "super-human" for this. A mystical, immoral way of wealth accumulation and social status. This is the perspective of the petite bourgeoisie, camouflaged behind a criticism to the urban free spirit.
This entire post really seems like you have never read Nietzsche. Nietzsche was born into a successful family, he become a tenured professor at 20, and knew the important people of his time like Wagner. His response to his sickness, and he makes this explicit in Ecce Homo is a philosophy of optimism and finding hidden meaning in trajegy. He explicitly tells us he used his sickness to understand decadence, and used it as a motivator to double his efforts to be healthy in mind since he cannot be healthy in body.
Trying to argue that his understanding of free will came from looking at social situation is basically ignoring everything he ever wrote and putting in your own damn interpretation. His understanding of will comes from Schopenhauer which argues that it is the will that controls us, not the other way around. Nietzsche expanded this in a new metaphysics in which there is not one will in a person but many and they have a complex relationship with some controlling others but none of them being fully free or fully subjugated.
Thus the idea of free will naturally does not make sense in such a metaphysics. Schopenhauer also believed that neither free will or determinism were valid understandings.
I don't know who wrote your copy-paste but they clearly have no interest in representing Nietzsche even remotely accurately.
Good shout, actually.
Samefag here, also pic related.
>According to the Franco-Bulgarian historian, Frank Mintz, even during the Second World War, the Makhnovist impact appeared as "Ukrainian guerrilla groups still brandish the black flag and fought against the Nazis and the Stalinists".
>Prison's full of them, look for them there.
1/10 understanding, the individual can collapse in the Dionysian. The Ubermensch is also not actually a fucking person.
Masters are alphas, 4/10 understanding.
That's sort of subjective. I'd say men that have started with nothing and were masters of innovation or industry. Also brilliant artists.
In my opinion:
People who are great analogies to grasp the idea:
Alexander the Great
Unreal things that the idea is literally based around:
But overall it's the individual who determines it.
In some regards, sure, but his entire system was based on a bullshit sense of German superiority. The biggest problem with Nazis is they had no concept of the Dionysian, when did the Nazis ever stop and gain pure self-reflection? They never did.
I don't know so much about his life, but in some ways I can see it. However, again, no Dionysiac-esque concepts. Henry Ford is not an example of a person who recognized the tragedy of life.
No, just no. He's a very good example of what's not superman.
Fuck no, you're delusional.
Now you're just trolling. Beethoven > Wagner in this regard.
The only one alive right now?
Elon Musk. No one else is even remotely comparable. No one has overcome the level of difficulty he has. Nor has anyone accomplished so much in such a short amount of time.
This man is singlehandedly taking us to Mars.
Actually raiding banks, post offices, trains and ships is called "expropriation", it's the only way to finance the activities of the illegal group without attracting any foreign funding.
Money were needed to buy guns, paper and ink, food and disposable clothes, to support the runaways, bribe the policemen...
Wat? This "against Stalin and Hitler" idea came up in the literature of ukranian nationalist only in 1943 when everything went south.
And there definitely were no more black -flag guerrilla troops in Ukraine during WW2.
>all he does is talk about muh ubermensch and will and shit
>is a shit-tier permavirgin beta IRL
Somehow I can't take him seriously.
>glorified auto-erotic fanfic becomes a major discussion topic years later
I've never seen this as good criticism of the man or his ideas. The easy way out would surely be adopting an egalitarian mindset and decrying master morality. But he didn't, he was dealt an unfair hand and didn't let his own misfortune corrupt his thoughts.
What? If Nitch had a better.... It was his philisiphy and understood it like no other. He mentions buddhism as a religion of decadence but at least they were honest about their unwillingness to suffer. He felt Christians were full blown hypocrites.
wasn't that more timing than anything else, there was huge social mobility as the governments were experiencing huge changes in ideology and structure, look at all the dictators in the era: Hitler, pol pot, stalin, Mao Zedong were all nobody.
Alexander the Great
this anon understands
>He explicitly tells us he used his sickness to understand decadence, and used it as a motivator to double his efforts to be healthy in mind since he cannot be healthy in body.
All the more tragic that the spent the last decade of his life a lunatic. In the end he was robbed even of his mind.
>Nietzsche expanded this in a new metaphysics in which there is not one will in a person but many and they have a complex relationship with some controlling others but none of them being fully free or fully subjugated.
Pixar stole Inside Out from Nietzsche
Never, ever, did the entirety of the USSR outnumber the United States and West Germany alone. Then there is China and India each being twice the Soviets. That is a jarringly ignorant thing to say.
you seem to misunderstand skepticism for cynicism. To be skeptical is to weigh options and to lean towards one. The man was quite literally mania ridden and delusional there was no weighing of evidence, he was right and everyone else's opinions were wrong.
After reading 7 essays he wrote throughout his life i'd be surprised if someone did want to read him given the ratio of garbage to content. besides, once you filter out the stuff he stole from eastern religion and philosophy not much original thought was there.
by far, most overrated philosopher and madman i've come across. not once in the philosophy classes i've taken have Wittgenstein, Russel, Comte, Weber, or Charles Sanders Peirce even been mentioned.
people can say plato is the most overrated, hell no. At least he had ideas
This may be news to you to learn this, but the Government of Chiang Kai-Shek actually fell, and the British left India and a fellow name Nehru took over.
Alters your calculations a touch.
>elon musk is singlehandedly taking us to mars
That's a bit misleading.
Anyone with the proper resources COULD take us to Mars. It's not like we don't have the capability to go to Mars. It's just that we haven't because robots are easier in almost every conceivable way, and that you most likely would not be coming back.
Elon Musk is simply the only man bothering to put the effort into such an undertaking because he's not worried about profit. He has the money and wants to see people on Mars.
The children he would have had with Grace Jones would be truly supreme beings.
What about Keanu Reeves
>Now 50 years old, Keanu’s life has been full of more tragedy than you would expect from a movie star. Despite each setback, he’s kept pushing forward. It’s helped develop himself into the awesome person that he is on and off the screen.
>At the age of three, his father left their family. They stayed in touch for a few years, but after the divorce and moving from city to city, they fell out of contact. Keanu attended four different high schools and struggled with dyslexia, making his education more challenging than it is for most. Eventually he left high school without earning a diploma, though through sheer will, he is an avid reader now.
>At the age of 23, his closest friend River Phoenix died of a drug overdose. During a Reddit AMA last year, Keanu said: “He was a remarkable human person and actor. We got along very well, and I miss him. I think of him often.”
>In 1998, Keanu met Jennifer Syme. The two fell instantly in love and by 1999, Jennifer was pregnant with their daughter. Sadly, after eight months, their child was born stillborn. They were devastated by her death and it eventually ended their relationship. 18 months later, Syme would die in a car accident.
His sister also died of cancer
Also Kenshiro from Hokuto no ken
>To become the true successor of the hokuto school one must know the true sadness of the world
>once you filter out the stuff he stole from eastern religion and philosophy not much original thought was there.
well at least his eternal return is a secular samsara which talks to people.
fought against communism in three different armies (finnish, german and USian), distinguishing himself for valor each time
a staunch individualist, he was nevertheless renowned for his capacity to lead and inspire those around him
the kind of guy that you send in knowing that he WILL turn the tide of a battle by just being there and doing his normal thing
also didn't really give a fuck about normie life
> you will never have raunchy animal-style sex with Grace
