The Vela Sat sensor was still under construction when the Israeli-South African fleet warped in from the Gum Nebula. If it had been operational, most likely the Sino-Australians would have won the battle of RCW 35, and in that case, the Israeli-South African defenses at Monoceros would probably have been inadequate against a massed counter-attack. The Sino-Australian starfleet was amply provisioned and might then have broken all the way through to the Solar system.
