Here we post our favourite historical music, be it either as sheet music or youtube links.

I'll start with some of my favourites:

The point was to link music which was recorded long time ago or which was made long time ago?

I cry every time.

Either! New recordings of old songs, or old recordings. Go nuts.

My favourite turkish war marches right here.

A scorn song written by Alfonso X of Castille.

A friend song by D. Dionísio of Portugal

written originally by the jacobites but adapted by Padraig Pearse who led the 1916 Easter Rising

Oh-ro You're welcome home,
Oh-ro You're welcome home,
Oh-ro You're welcome home...
Now that summer's coming!

Welcome oh woman who was so afflicted,
It was our ruin that you were in bondage,
Our fine land in the possession of thieves...
And you sold to the foreigners!

Oh-ro You're welcome home (x3)
Now that summer's coming!

Gráinne O'Malley is coming over the sea,
Armed warriors along with her as her guard,
They are Gaels, not French nor Spanish...
And they will rout the foreigners!

Oh-ro You're welcome home (x3)
Now that summer's coming!

May it please the King of Miracles that we might see,
Although we may live for a week once after,
Gráinne Mhaol and a thousand warriors...
Dispersing the foreigners!

Oh-ro You're welcome home (x3)
Now that summer's coming!
oi f am what are those fluty instruments called at the start of the marsche?

This is the best part (no doubt) of the FIRST OPERA EVER. That is, Monteverdi's L'Orfeo.

Fun fact, this is one of the oldest pieces of classical music that is still played regularly.

And this snippet is the best part of it.
