Why didn't Europe not have a 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s etc (what I mean by this is like signature decades). We all know what this time period was like in the USA but I never see anything about Europe in this regard.

Strictly speaking about Western Europe of course. Not Eastern for, uh, obvious reasons.

But we had that, it' just that we don't have such a huge media machine to glorify those times. Also not a real individual drive to fap over those times.

Should these two be held up as giants of Western intellect? It seems they held the West in an arrested development that wasn't broken until the time of Descartes/

That's only because they were giants. They were so great we masturbated solely to them for hundreds of years.

>Plato is always concerned to advocate views that will make people what he thinks virtuous; he is hardly ever intellectually honest, because he allows himself to judge doctrines by their social consequences. Even about this he is not honest; he pretends to follow the argument and to be judging by purely theoretical standards, when in fact he is twisting the discussion so as to lead to a virtuous result. He introduced this vice into philosophy, where it has persisted ever since. It was probably largely hostility to the Sophists that gave this character to his dialogues. One of the defects of all philosophers since Plato is that their inquiries into ethics proceed on the assumption that they already know the conclusions to be reached.

>Plato possessed the art to dress up illiberal suggestions in such a way that they deceived future ages, which admired the Republic without ever becoming aware of what was involved in its proposals. It has always been correct to praise Plato, but not to understand him. This is the common fate of great men. My object is the opposite. I wish to understand him, but to treat him with as little reverence as if he were a contemporary English or American advocate of totalitarianism.

What would Evola have thought of Kanye? I thought his main issue with 'negro' music was that it was too depressing / focused on temporary enjoyment. Kanye's music on the other hand focuses on success and it's various offshoots.

We only really know the meme entertainer Kanye, but I think if Evola met and spoke to Kanye as men he would express disgust in Kayne's encouragement and profit off of mindless consumerism.
>>
>>2855452
>We only know the meme Kanye

Guess what music is?

I agree with the personality clash, but in terms of over all contribution to Evola's heroism given the realities of modern life I think he'd see Kanye as a rather great person. Especially for a 'negro'

The question basically sums it all up. What do you think a conventional war between NATO forces along with the 435,000 forward deployed U.S. troops against the Soviet Armed Forces and their Warsaw Pact forces would look like?

It's very likely that it could have gone nuclear but let's assume that for the first few weeks, the conventional forces on both sides resort to fighting in a traditional style of warfare that was seen in previous large scale wars. What would that look like?

>>
>>2855050
What era?

After 1980, Pact loses. Before 1980, Pact wins. Simple as that.
>>
>>2855064
But this is all assuming that it never went nuclear. Could the Warsaw Pact or NATO really win or lose if nukes are used on the battlefield? I guess this depends on if the nuclear exchange is only limited to the battlefield and its not outright total war involving nukes. I should have thought this through in regards to the era. Let's assume both eras. Before 1980 and after 1980.
>>
>>2855050
A strictly conventional war would last many years and perhaps upwards of 100 million would die. The outcome would reply on whomever could acquire an advantage in the opening weeks.
Germany and the balkans would be lost definitely. The Soviet seven days to the rhine plan would have succeeded. NATO knew this too, and established defensive positions in France for the eventual Soviet wave.
The American heartland would be threatened by Soviet bombers that could be refitted with conventional munitions. American and Canadian interceptors would have likely diminished their effectiveness however. Ultimately Europe would be a lost cause. NATO would succeed in traditional scenarios however, as the Soviet navy would never be able to penetrate the north sea or the Mediterranean effectively. As well, American and Canadian assaults from the east, launching off of Japan and Alaska would have put the soviets on a two front war. The Canadian army specifically trained and still trains to this day for these kind of conditions.
The war would be cataclysmic and even more drawn out than previous wars. Neither the United States or the USSR would be majorly threatened by invasion, and Europe would be a proxy battleground for the entirety of the war. It would be attritional.

When did "real" capitalism began? Some say it started only with Industrial Revolution, others say it goes back to medieval communes.

The dutch likely had every feature of capitalism (According to Marxist theory) developed in the 16th century, so it was pre industrial. One could argue that the same system worked as early as 14th century Italy.

This does however not cope well with Marxists for a variety of reasons, mostly because it shows that their theory has fundamental flaws in understanding history. More so because they see capitalism not as an evolved economic system that just builds on older economies and the natural behavior of humans, but according to them is something invented by Adam Smith.

From 1918 German economy was absolute shite. Nazis didn't change much by investing everybody on the military (Despite what their propaganda said). Things went up for Germans after they starter exploiting conquered lands.
After 1945 they recieved US money, which they invested to recover. They didn't had much of opponents on European market, France and Britain suffered decolonisation while eastern Europe was under Soviet subjection

no it was not
European Powers had fought wars before, and never before had one nation (German Reich) been punished to this extent
paying reparations, yielding territory etc was common
but Germany was fucked beyond belief

this is not a defence of what Germany did later

>Why have people always hated the bourgeoisie?
Because people being successful makes other people envious and bitter.
>Why not hate the nobility who didn't have to work for their wealth?
Why hate a state of thing older than living memory? It's easier to accept something that always was than a new change. It's not a coincidence that new nobility was generally held in contempt.

A Roman general, Marcu Atilius Regulus was captured by Carthaginians, he was sleep deprived for 2 weeks, then his eyelashes were cut off and they forced him to stare at the sun until he went blind, then they covered him with honey and let hundreds of wasps and bees stung him, then they put him inside of a barrel full of needles and let the barrels slide off a cliff, then he finally died.

Hell, anyone who was crucified normally would also qualify, given that most take a couple of days to die, not a few hours. Rabbi Akiva was flayed over the course of about a day, that's pretty fucking awful. Probably more I don't know about.
