He isn't wrong, but I think for many people they just can't do it. Part of me wants to agree fully with him and my own experience and say that happiness is a learned habit, but I think a lot of people are just naturally more inclined towards that habit than others, and it might not be as learned as it initially seems.

The guard were constantly his life and title, and he was very sick at the end of his life and hurt all the time. Just because he held a powerful office doesn't mean everything was just jolly for him.

Churchill and Roosevelt delayed hte opening of the western front as much as possible because they wanted the Soviet Union to become almost broken in terms of material losses and casualities. They were, sufficed to say, and Stalin was completely aware of this. If the Americans, British Empire and Europeans who fled to Britain had not opened been involved in the war then the USSR would have been utterly BTFO.

Look at their casualties! They were flying bi-planes! If the RAF had not been taking up the Luftwaffe's attention then Soviet cities and factories could have been annailated.

The only purpose the USSR served was providing fodder for the allies. Thank fuck the Western Front was opened.
