Is CIA not the right answer?
Wherever you have a large number of angry poorfags, you're going to find utopians and hucksters trying to capitalize on that anger for their own political gain.
Redpill me on Leonid Brezhnev /his/, was he the crappiest Soviet leader or did he make some good policies?
>>2926556
Basically you need to know is that he was less authoritarian than Stalin, but more authoritarian than Khrushchev. He undid a lot of the cautious liberalization that took place during the Khrushchev-era, basically reverting the Soviet Union to a position that you could call Stalin-Lite. Andropov and Chernenko continued his policies and made no changes worthy of note.
>>2926556
He was a jovial good hearted fellow, not very smart. He was allowed to get the top job because he wasn't really ambitious or had any plans or policies. He just let the other party bosses rule collectively and be corrupt without the fear of being shot or put in prison.
He was just a figurehead.

Why did Romania join the axis?
Could they have kept up neutrality?
>>2926519
Because they occupied the dubious position of being one of the major producers of oil on the European continent without significant military force of their own and their major protector being France. It was either join the Axis, or have Hitler demand a load of oil from you and roflstomp your country if you didn't give it to him.
>Could they have kept up neutrality?
About the only way they could have is if France managed to hold up and be a major obstacle to Germany for the bulk of WW2. Of course, if that happens, WW2 takes a markedly different turn overall, so much so that it's hardly recognizable.
>>2926519
They would have ended up like Yugoslavia had they not.
>>2926519
They were Slavs and, unlike Croats and Bulgarians, realized that the Nazis will eventually kill them of the Romanians and enslave the rest
Why aren't Galicians and Belarussians happy that Muscovy gained independence from the mongols and united Rus, saving it from Islam and Catholicism?
If it wasn't for Moscow, the territories of Rus would be speaking only Polish and Turkish now.
Also

How about citiziens of Novgorod, why weren't they happy? Oh wait, they got all killed. Uniting my ass.
>If it wasn't for Moscow, the territories of Rus would be speaking only Polish and Turkish now.
>Implying that's a bad thing.
>>2926419
>Why aren't Galicians and Belarussians happy that Muscovy gained independence from the mongols and united Rus?
Because Belorussians and Galicians aren't Russian
>>2927245
>How about citiziens of Novgorod, why weren't they happy? Oh wait, they got all killed. Uniting my ass.
They were Russian. They got united with moscow because they were too weak to defeat the mongols themselves. Novgorod wasn't killed, its Russian and always will be
>Implying that's a bad thing.
Roaches and poles assimilating nations is really bad
>>2927382
During the Kievan Rus they were Russians with Russian dialects that diverged into seperate languages of the same family as Russian. because they descend from the same statehood, have the same customs, have similar languages, have the same religion, and were united with Russia again, they're Russian and not Polish, not Turkic, and not Baltic
Some poor lasses are trapped in Peking and you are now an Infantry man of one of the nations of the 8 nation alliance.

The Luxembourgians?
I don't know either.
the king has been lying on his deathbed for months with a disease that can not be cured
his eldest son died in battle against a rival country, his other 2 sons were lost at sea on a trading expedition. his only remaining child is his 2 year old daughter who is betrothed to a distant duke.
each of his dukes believe they should become the new king.
the first duke is an experienced man who has been ruling since the king was still in his cradle.
his lands are rich and he has led campaigns to protect and expand the kingdom. his subjects love him but foreign leaders see him as too aggressive and unwilling to cooperate with anyone. and on top of all that he is 85 and unable walk without assistance.
the next duke is about 19 and has just inherited his title from his father who is the king's distant relative. he has experience fighting in wars but no experience leading. hes know to be a deeply pious man and has openly called to retake land lost in a holy war.
the last duke is 32 and is a hunchback and has been racked with pneumonia since he was a child. he has served on the council for years and pushed for major reforms to "take power out of the hand of nobles and priests, and give the peasantry more freedom" foreign leaders see him as a persuasive man and has kept an amicable relationship with several leaders. he holds the smallest dutchy and his subject have been plagued by perpetual famine.
who takes power in this situation?
>>2926217
The 19 year old on the condition that the other two are advisors/councilors whatever term you want to use.
After all, it sounds like the 19 year old is the only relative of the king besides the daughter.
>>2926217
>he king has been lying on his deathbed for months with a disease that can not be cured
>his eldest son died in battle against a rival country, his other 2 sons were lost at sea on a trading expedition.
Honestly you could just end the post there.
The answer is whoever wins the war of succession that will inevitably follow the king's death. Succession was very often an incredibly messy business, even when lines were clearly drawn, and this is a fuckup on top of that. The only way this ends without war is if one of the dukes has enough military allies to make it obvious to the other two that they have no chance.
in your opinion

How come in WWI they didn't just parachute behind enemy lines?
>>2926041
You don't have actual ATRs. Hell, getting planes that could deliver bombs was tough enough in WW1. An Airco DH.10 had a payload of 417 kg. A H.P. O/400 could carry about a ton. That gives you about 2-5 guys per plane, if you want them to carry equipment. These were late war planes too, some of the best available. They were also built in nowhere near the capacity that you'd need for an operation. The attack on Crete used 500 Ju-52s; and you didn't have either of the above even built in that number.
Secondly, paratroopers are pretty useless against other combat arms without serious support. You can't reliably communicate with them with WW1 technology, and they'd get chewed up by enemy reserves, which at least on the western Front, are usually floating around, certainly anywhere your planes can reach.
>>2926041
Same reason they didn't drop hydrogen bombs.
>>2926041
Intel agents and saboteurs were dropped all the time, the guys who killed Heydrich for example.
Pic related was one the planes of choice
In gsg games/historical simulators like Steel Division and Hearts of Iron IV close air support is so powerful that you can pretty much ignore tanks and other armor and win solely by spamming a lot of infantry, artillery, and CAS. Is this in any way realistic historically or just poor game design? Are there any battles where tanks came up against just infantry, artillery, and air support and got btfo?
>>2926020
You very rarely had tanks operating on their own. When they did, it was usually part of some sort of deep penetration where other, slower assets couldn't keep pace, and were against rear echelon stuff, not facing organized resistance. Even then, they ideally had air support, in fact, often close air support was necessary for such missions to compensate for lack of artillery.
I'm not even really sure how to integrate your two questions, they don't really cohere to each other. Tanks served a role on the WW2 battlefield, and were pretty indispensable for that role of the rapid breakthrough once penetration was achieved. They were not generally that great at penetration, although they could be used as such in a pinch.
>>2926020
Planes really were not good at hitting tanks. It is extremely difficult to hit a relatively small, moving target like a tank from an aircraft in the 1940's. Planes were much better at disrupting the support vehicles that tanks depend on.
>>2926020
Early on it was extremely effective, but as technology improved it became weaker and weaker and by the war's end it was essentially worthless.
Why was ancient """"art"""" so shitty?
They hadn't come across the mathematical principles behind making a 2D medium appear 3D. They were just eyeballing it.
But give them credit, nobody figured it out anywhere in the world until like 14th century Italy.
>>2926004
Desu even the shitty medieval paintings from ~1100 (before the renaissance etc) look better than this.
>>2926039
I was under the belief that most ancient paintings were totally lost, with only a handful of frescos preserved so it's difficult to judge the 'skill' of the ancient masters since we don't really have many examples of their work.
